Ksrugi

Shadowy Prophet

Ksrugi darted foward and crashed his head into a table, with the arm still holding onto his leg. Stars exploded into his vision and he could have sworn he heard someone screaming.

"T-tao....sumfting outzide mate. I tink itsa kid. Go help 'em, I'll be fine man."

Ksrugi waited a moment for his vision to adjust and then fought off the wave of naseau. He could barely make out Tao's form, it being only a blurry silhouette. He opened his mouth and a cracked voice cried out in desperation.

"Go Tao! He needs our help..."

And with that, Ksrugi fell to his side and lost conciousness.

Conciousness returned, though the light did not. The Boy's eyes were filled with black, like permanent sunglasses, as he got painfully to his feet. His head pulsed painfully, and his legs suddenly sprang forth. His body was not under his control.
The Shadows were too close.

It was as though he were watching a bad movie with fire coursing through his veins. He felt his arms vault him over a broken window frame, felt himself bleed on broken glass, watched as people fled before him, cried on the floor as the presence left him.
His hands were smeared with blood. Not his.

The Boy gazed sadly around the room. Noises, bangs, smashing rang in his ears, but it didn't register at all. He merely slumped down against the wall.

"Thats okay. Names Calliandra, but everyone calls me Cal." She said trying to force a smile onto her face. Now that she thought about it, the girl did look slightly firmilar, but with all the people she had seen come and go, all the souls she had seen fleeting from a disembodied flesh. There were just far to many faces to remember just a glimmer of one.

"Its not safe to be wandering out here. There are creatures far worse than that begger lurking around every corner." Cal warned the girl polietly wondering why someone had chosen to travel through the lands, alone, and during these dark times. It just wasnt safe to do anything anymore. Even breathing seemed to come at a price.

Cereah nodded, "Yes, I know, I'm sorry. I was just on my way back to the Derelict and I got... distracted." Cereah looked down, ashamed that she let herself get into such a vunerable situation. "I usually don't leave the Derelict, but I needed to go get something from Espon City..." Cereah's eyes met Cal's. "The city is completely destroyed now and people are frantic. We should probably head back before someone else catches up with us." Cereah paused before asking, "So why are you out here with everything that's going on?"

Tao gasped for a quick breath. Now would be the worst time on the planet for a panic attack or a case of the shakes to come on. He shrugged off the lack of breath and the shivvers that shuddered across his spine and ribcage. Letting his grip upon the barrell of the shotgun loosen and the weapon slide down into his hand, he looked at Ksrugi. He closed his eyes for a moment, drew one more breath. As he was about to take off out the door he realised that by leaving Ksrugi there, he would be condemning him to death. He quickly lifted Ksrugis magnum from the floor, slid it into his belt and hoisted the unconscious friend up by his arm. He gritted his teeth, K was heavier than Tao thought- or else Tao was weaker than he had once considered himself to be,

"I thought... with the lack of... uh... food... you would have... lost weight..."

Tao headed out the door, the shotgun swaying over his shoulder by the mud encrusted strap. He looked around, not a sign of anybody. Not a single soul.

"Dont tell me your tripping too."

Ksrugi's hand started to grab at the air, his speech nothing but a steady stream of non sense. He started to trash around, not allowing Tao to hold onto him anymore, all the while living in some world of his own.

"731? DL? Hey guys! It's me!"

He turned and stared at Tao, a look of utter shock rivetting through his system.

"Tao?! I thought Chi had you!"

Ksrugi babbled on without a worry of his surroundings, his mind boggled and muddled from the attack. He suddenly stopped and then knelt over.

"I thought we were in that huge tower trying to save you. Where's DL? Where's Weasel? Tao, tell me..."

Tao dropped Ksrugi to the ground. He stared at him, his face flustered and his eyes filled with nothing but sorrow and grief.

"Thier-"

Tao broke off. He stepped back, it wasnt safe to be in range of this area. Let alone standing in the middle of the street as they were doing right now. He grabbed Ksrugi by the arm and dragged him hurriedly into a building. Glass shards littered the ground. He looked at Ksrugi,

"DL. Weasel. You dont remember."

Tao hung his head.

"Their dead man. They have been dead for a long time now- years. Dark is gone. Their all dead."

The glass cracked and scored the wooden floor as Taos feet shuffled uneasily.

Ksrugi blinked once and it all came back, like a tidal wave annihilating the lone surfer. He remembered where he was and what had happened since the original infiltration into Chi's base. But still, he didn't know some of his old friends were dead.

"N-no...They lived through Chi and all that s**t and they were killed by these Shadows!?!"

The grief churned within him and he let the guilt that festered within him to release itself, after all those years. He fell to his knees and mourned the loss of his friends, something he should have done years ago. After a few minutes, he stopped and got up. He wiped his eyes on his sleeve and then wordlessly searched for his magnum.

"Sorry about that Tao. Guess whenever you bottle it up like that, it comes out sooner or later. Let's just move along."
PostPosted: Wed Dec 14, 2005 4:54 pm

Tao searched for words but came up short.

"I."

He didnt even know what to say. Or what to think. He reached behind his back and dragged out the magnum from its tucked away position underneath the belt,

"You. Eh you dropped this back at that house."

Tao turned on his heels, the shotgun still swaying silently by his hip. The glass continued to scratch away on the floor as he turned on his heels and looked around.

"K- I dont think we're alone here."

Tao raised the shotgun and his head nodded towards a blood stain on the window frame.

Before Cal could answer Cereah said, "Oh! I'm sorry! I shouldn't ask that, should I..." Cereah saw one of the jackets was falling from her bag and tried to force it back into the bag. Failing miserably, Cereah decided to just take the one jacket out and zip the bag shut. Holding the jacket, Cereah looked back to Cal.

"I tend to be nosy, so just ignore me. Well, are you heading back now? If you want we can go back together." Cereah then began to walk back to the Derelict, taking her time so as to give Cal time to decide. She might have friends in Espon City that she needs to save... Maybe asking why she's here will only upset her... either way, it would be better if we all returned to the Derelict for now... I hope everyone is okay...

Cal stood in transfixed horror. "D-destroyed? Espon is...g-gone?" She managed to stumble out. She looked almost pleadingly with the girl for a moment, before she wipped the discraceful expression off her face. "I have to go to the city. I'm sorry." Cal said, turning around, heading slowly back towards the run down garage. She could hardly believe what she heard. She knew the day would eventually come, but not now. Not when everybodies moral was already so low. "I-It was nice to meet you." Cal murmered trying to at least be semi nice to stranger.

The Boy awoke to the crunching of glass and the throbbing pain in his palms and spine. He scurried up against the wall, pressing himself against the wood in fear.
With a force of will, the Boy turned his fear into anger, anger against the monsters after him, who destroyed his family, his future. He pulled his lead pipe up off the ground as he stood. He knew that something was there, and knew that he'd stand his ground even if it killed him. He didn't care about being a martyr. He cared about getting what revenge he could. And now he would get it.
He heard the crunch of footsteps, and pressed himself against the window frame, pipe raised, ready for some thing to come through...

Ksrugi nodded and tightened the straps on his boots. Ksrugi accepted his magnum and he grinned at Tao.

"You know man, doing crazy s**t is something we've done since the beginning. I feel young again."

Ksrugi ran as hard as he could, pumping his legs like an expert track runner. He dove into the window frame and his arm straightened right away. Ksrugi had a perfect shot of the person hiding there. But he couldn't fire. Something about the boy kept him from pulling the trigger.

As the Boy whirled around, he let out a yell of surprise and swung his pipe hard.
Half a second into the attack, he dropped the pipe in surprise, letting it fall to the floor as his arm finished the swinging motion. This person had a gun pointed directly at him. Magnum, by the looks of it. ...How did he know that?
"Wha..."
The Boy rasped as he fell backwards against the wall.
