Chrow the Faithless Samhainn Chrow the Faithless I stress the IMO.
You're letting your emotions get the best of you in a debate. Not a good thing, Vani.
I clearly said that it could and could not happen. No use worrying about possible spilled milk until it finally happens. Sit back and enjoy the view, UNTIL it starts to happen. Then you take action.
But clearly, this topic angers you, so it is pointless to voice one's own opinion, without getting a heavy dose of sarcasm from you. :/ Not really faire if you ask me. Her response was her opinion as well. Good idea, sit back and take it, is a crude way of saying that let it happen it doesn't affect me, and oh well attitudes is what put the country and world in the place it is now. This is that limit for her, and for alot of people. If a revolution is needed it has to get started and changing old practices is one of those things that needs to happen. Emotions take these clear and precise thoughts into short bursts of expression ranging from guttural screams to torrent worth obscenities. We must all work on controlling our emotions. Live Long and Prosper If it did affect me, I would be still saying the same thing. For some it's a matter of perception, not about "What if it's going to happen to me?". I'm sorry my "Oh Well" attitude is so displeasing, it's just how my mind works. I'm not about to change my way of thinking just because some people think different. If a revolution is needed, then fine. Let's all fight. If it's not needed, then ok, let's have "peace" and love and junk. I understand the 'Ok whatev" attitude is the breaking point for some people, but it's not right to assume it's the breaking point for all of us.
Also, Epic win with Spock.
He hit the nail on the head. This can only happen if we sit back and let it happen. Hitler did what he did because people let him. I apologize for not being accepting of your mindframe, because a mindframe like that is what causes situations like the one we're in. Because people think they don't have a voice, and nothing they do or say matters, they let the government have as much power as it wants. This is a dangerous thing. Our government was set up to be run by us, the people. But because democracy doesn't really work well in practice, we gave them too much power.
Anyway, to summarize it: The more people who sit back and watch the world go up in flames, the faster those flames will burn the rest of us. My boyfriend thinks I'm insane right now, and I don't care. He can sit and let them tell him what to do, and inject whatever they want in to his system, and so can you. But I'm not going to, and I'm going to encourage people to care and take a stand for their rights. Afterall, we only have these rights if we take the responsibility to protect them. No one's going to do it for us, because no one else has our best interests in mind.
This is more than a simple debate. This is more than words and pixels, pictures and videos. Sure, no one can predict the future, but when something is slowly and clearly developing into a bad situation, it's not hard to see it.

You're again, assuming my "ok, whatev" mindset is just like everyone else's. Personally, actions are greater than words. I would love someone to kill any idiot in power right now, instead of just protesting and trying to get a word in edgewise. Like I said, I'm anarchist. Whatever the govy does and says to me is complete and total mockery of the human mind, and complete and total bullshit. But again, it's IMO.
Washington and those wonderful founding fathers of ours would be ashamed of what we've become. I know, the government was meant to be runned by us, but it's not. We can't run it because of the power and money hungry idiots. We don't even have a direct say in who we elect president anymore. You're right, our rights ARE diminishing. THAT is scary. How our own political ideas are being turned against us.
I believe mistakes happen to use as learning tools (If dictators didn't happen, then we wouldn't know what to do to stop them from gaining power. Same for monopolies). I know for a fact, that if I even TRIED to do something against what's going on, my attempts would be futile. There's reasons behind my mindset. Sure, Ok. Yes, it's good to take action, but when it comes to one person doing it, it's useless. You can encourage all you want to, to me, I highly doubt it would do any good. But to you, it might mean the world.
I accept your point of view, even though I disagree with it. You do, however make some good points about it. Everyone does mostly in this thread. I, though you might not want to believe it, makes some good points to. Points points points.... O_O attention span slipped.
It is, at this moment, a debate. It's more than one person discussing and expressing opinions over one or more subjects. What's slowly and clearly developing into a bad situation, is an event.

I'm assuming that based on the response I get from friends and family when I tell them they should be prepared. I calmly give them my reasoning and they look at me like I'm ranting and raving and I have 5 heads. Also, if someone did kill someone in power, that would give them more reason to tighten their grip on us. Because one person is much more important than the rest of us. rolleyes
You do make some good points. It's true that it's no use throwing your life away to worry and prep. "You can't survive if you don't thrive." But, again, you can't thrive if you don't survive! It's a balancing act, but even the government agrees we should be prepared. For what? I don't know. I do know, that if even the enemy (the government) is worried, then we're in for a bumpy ride.
Also, you're a fat cow

CDC Drafts “Isolation Order” for H1N1
Kurt Nimmo Infowars September 28, 2009
The following draft of an “isolation order” was discovered on the CDC’s website. It is a template for state and local officials to impose quarantines and what would effectively be martial law.
“Your illness [as determined by state and local officials] requires that you be isolated and requires further public health investigation and monitoring.”
Failure to obey will result in imprisonment without bail prior to trial and the possiblity of a two year prison term.
In other words, according to this document, officials can impose quarantine without evidence that somebody is actually infected with a virus that is now negligible at best. It may also be used to quarantine potentially millions of people suffering from any number of illnesses — or not suffering from any disease at the discretion of the state — that have nothing to do with H1N1. It is basically a carte blanche for martial law under the cover of protecting the public from a communicable disease that is demonstrably a manufactured and weaponized threat.

eek I can talk to people all day bout my personal philosophies and I get blown off like I'm an idiot who doesn't know a damned thing. razz You're not the only one who people think is crazy.
Vicious cycle is what I like to call that balancing act XD The govy is confusing in and of itself. It can get prepared for random things.
With that, I digress.
I wish I was a tall fat cow, but what can you do.
...I wish that Piggie flu stuff would actually make sense.

Piggie flu, eh? Isn't it just like regular flu?
Why do I have a feeling that they're going to quarantine anyone with the sniffles?

HAPPENING NOW
Montana Town Occupied By Private Paramilitary Security Force
A private security force whose biggest role is helping the U.S. government to “combat terrorism” is now patrolling the streets of a town in Montana, acting as law enforcement but accountable to nobody and operating completely outside the limitations of the U.S. constitution in a chilling throwback to the brownshirts of Nazi Germany.

Minnesota County Conducts “Operation Big Shot” Mass Vaccination Drill
In preparation for the distinct possibility of a mandatory vaccination of the American public, a county in Minnesota will hold a mass vaccination drill today dubbed “Operation Big Shot.” County officials expect “300 volunteers to conduct the drill alongside about 200 health department staff members. They emphasized that staffers will not dispense actual vaccinations,” according to The Star Tribune.
