The chaos bolt struck 213's blown-away shoulder; it somehow failed to react to the injured area.

Tanto shrugged as he lumbered back to wait for transport back to the base. He was rather good at simply losing focus on events going on around him.
Isaac stood up and walked towards Ty and Yarah, those two being the closest. "Hey," he said slowly. "Where's 213?" He looked around with growing confusion.

Yarah stared as Isaac returned to the meager group. Maybe he's not as gutless as I thought. He forgot about the cannon and checked Isaac over for the basic check up. "You shot at 213's arm and injured it severely. I am impressed by your ingenuity," he said stoically. After making sure that the boy was alright, he asked, "did you not know this?" Isaac looked shocked at Yarah's words - Was it just a lucky shot?

"Follow him!" Edward called out, exasperated. "We can figure out who made... whatever he is."
Carlyle agreed wholeheartedly.

"I...I didn't," Isaac said, straightening up slightly. "Did I really? After the pods blew, I lost visual and I figured that I m-missed! I got him!"
He smiled brightly, a rare look for the young Knight. Then he sobered slightly. "Wait...I hit his arm? I didn't finish him, then?" He looked glum for a second before hearing Edward's words. "He's right!"
Isaac began to head towards the other group with intention to follow 213. Tanto did not.

"If you want to follow him, fine! Let's wait for, y'know, orders?" Cassandra suggested. She was grateful there had been no obligation for her to make any actual attack.

"Follow him, but if he responds to you in any way, run," Camille replied. Anton Liu Jiar nodded his assent to his soldiers.
"We're going to have to heal La Capitan's arm," Dremmeur Sai replied. "Camille, do you wish to delegate command of your soldiers to me?"
"I suppose I shall," she said with a sigh. "I called HQ, they're teleporting in a couple of other soldiers."
Liu Jiar groaned. "I should see about getting reinforcements for an assault as well."

Isaac nodded and drew his swords. He decided to go in front of the others, so that his REF might be used to intercept any attacks.

Yarah listened to their commanders and followed after the group. He'd have stayed behind to help the Captain's arm, but well, he wasn't THAT skilled.

Cassandra shut right up after that; she had hoped the orders would be contrary. Hesitantly, she moonwalked moved after her teammates, rifle still in hand.

Ty seemed to be choking on air as the rest of them walked away. He looked at the abandoned tetrapod cannon forlornly. "But..." He had cheered for the success of the other weapon, and for Isaac. But... but they had a cannon, right there! Why did no one want it...?
Well, he certainly hadn't the slightest clue how to use it. He perked up and jogged after the rest of them, eventually catching up with Cassandra. "Hey! So what're we gonna do? Follow him to his commander? Won't whoever ordered him be stronger than he is? Maybe we should have, like, a cannon with us. Y'know, there's a cannon back there, back at the battlefield, that we could use. I'll bet you could use it, if me and Isaac aimed it. Then we could blow this dude's head off if he tried anything funny, right?"
He was between excited and distressed. There was literally nothing he could do against the construct. He didn't even understand it - golems were not in his realm of experience. He kept an eye on it the whole time, trying not to instinctively hold his nose. The mana was just... so strong. "How are you not blind, Cass?"

"I'unno, I don't want to draw any extra attention to myself from that thing," Cassandra muttered. How she was not blind... she did not know. It was apparent his mana was strong, and she felt like she ought to be hurting from it. Perhaps it was like squinting; enough to reduce the mana signature to something bearable. She didn't really understand her own ability. "I guess it's easier to block sight than smell," Cassandra suggested quietly. She stayed close to Ty. He might have mistaken this as some sort of indication of amorous interest. This would have been a mistake. No, this was more like "I don't have to outrun a bear, only you" sort of thing.

They followed him across the flat ground for hours, the chilly winds of the outback night penetrating clothing and armor alike; it seemed only those with demonic associations had any sort of shielding against it. Subject 213 walked tirelessly, small amounts of blood and sparks (both reddish mana and blue electricity) emerging from the stump of his arm. Over time, it seemed the metal mesh, which was interwoven into his skin, covered the wound as a temporary solution.
He walked into the shadow of some sort of rock formation and began to sink into it.
The question was in all of their minds - should they follow?

"No," answered Isaac shakily. He was cold and tired and afraid.
"Yes," answered Tanto darkly. He was impatient and bored and ready to kill.

Ty almost immediately flinched away from Cass when she mentioned smell, and awkwardly tried to cover for it while his gaze shifted to Isaac. How could she have known? Why would he have told? Did she... did she not care that he was a were? Maybe Isaac hadn't fully explained something, maybe... He shook his head. No. There was no way Isaac had told. He simply was not the kind to do that.
Unless he was.
In which case he couldn't exactly hold it against Isaac. It had been a lot to dump on him. No one could be expected to just hold on to that kind of information. The boy threw a kind of nervous grin at Cassandra and asked, "What do you mean, 'smell'?"
When they finally reached the construct's destination, Ty was the first to excitedly whisper, "Let's go! Are we waiting? Why?"
