Unwanted CompanyWord Count: 738 It had been two days since Howl had found out. Two days since he had gone to the hospital and found the room that belonged to his dear friend, Franz St. Germaine, to be completely cleared out. Even now, after two days, he still preferred to call it that instead of what it really was.
The teal-haired lad tried to keep to his usual schedule as normal, including his extracurriculars and what used to be considered Franz's extracurriculars as well. Yet, somehow he seemed to be quieter than usual. It was during English class, one of the few joys left in the basic curriculum, that a crackly voice on the loudspeaker made a request.
"Howl Wickham, please report to the attendance office."
Several pairs of eyes fell upon the effeminate student as he stood up eloquently and walked out with more grace than a chick could ever hope to have. There were even a few whispers echoing in the classroom that touched the edges of Howl's ears. "What the hell could Wickham do to get called to the office? Such a goody goody!" Remaining completely detached, he exited the room and walked down the hallway.
Usually the hallways were crowded during passing period, but they were completely empty, save for the occasional hooligan who was cutting class in some form or fashion. It was amazing they were still able to pull such things off in such a school. Perhaps the faculty really didn't give a damn about the students. As he walked, he could hear his feet clicking against the tile of the hallway, the sound echoing about ahead and behind him. If he had something to worry about, it might have seemed like a longer trip than it actually was. It was only about 2 minutes of walking.
Swinging the door open daintily as to not ruin the hinges on the door, Howl glanced to the office manager. "You wanted to see me?"
The office manager shook her head. "No, the principal will actually be speaking to you."
Closing the door ever so gently, he couldn't help but ask "Is there a particular reason?"
The woman paused. "It is in regards to your current dormitory situation."
The silence was almost deafening. The only thing to break the lack of sound was the creaking of a door slightly down the way. "Howl, please come in..."
Being made of all manners, the young man did as told without any hesitation. This was a military-styled school after all, and hesitation was always the wrong thing to do in such an environment. Howl entered, but dared not sit down until he heard an invitation to do such. "Be seated." Almost mechanically, he did just that.
The man seated himself behind his desk, maintaining the professional relationship the two had. "I will not sugarcoat this any, Howl. Your prior roommate is no longer enrolled in this school. His possessions will be returned to his parents, and you will be assigned a new roommate."
For a moment, it felt as if his tongue had swelled up to the point of being useless. He opened his mouth two times, as if testing to see if he could form the words, and found himself unable to say a word. His tongue almost seemed to clumsily cluck against the roof of his mouth. When the words finally left his lips, it was a rather unrefined question.
"How soon?"
"It depends on when we will need a new room. It could be a new transfer student, or it could be a room change for another student already at Hillworth." The man folded his hands upon his desk.
That wasn't very helpful at all. "Understood."
Eventually he was dismissed and returned back to class. Eyes were on him, and a few voices attempted to sneak the information out of him. Howl's tongue still seemed to suffer from the swelling that had happened in the principal's office. It wasn't like he was the sort to speak out of turn in a classroom environment. It was later that evening when he returned to the dorm that he finally began to show some signs of emotion. He pressed his head against his desk and his his face under his arms. No, he wasn't crying, but his body was shuddering.
Franz was dead.
There was going to be no mourning period. Everything was changing, and in all honesty, Howl had never approved.

Royal WeddingWord Count: 554 Mother definitely had a strong opinion when it came to Americans (Howl used the polite term rather than the slang his mother used). However, Howl could agree that there were things they could never understand.
Hillworth office staff were absolutely baffled when Mrs. Wickham came to the office demanding to pull her son from the program for a full day. It wasn't an emergency as she had stated, nor was it anything medical. However, legally she could pull him out if she saw it fit, so they could not withhold her son. Soon enough, the teal haired figure was escorting his mother out of the office and off of the campus altogether.
Though there was definitely some sort of contentment in the fact he would be away from Mr. Cartier for one evening, this evening was not meant for fun and games. There would be no celebrating over something so frivolous.
As they rode back to the condo, Anastasia could not help but point out the obvious. "This has been keeping your father quite busy over the past few months with planning."
Politely, her son replied "Indeed it has, Mother." His head nodded slightly.
"I am quite sure that he will get some of the most spectacular shots."
Again, the lad agreed. "I am most certain his company will make no mistakes."
His mother looked away for a moment with those beautiful teal eyes of hers, sighing wistfully. "I believe Kate's dress will be absolutely stunning. I must confess, I am a little jealous."
A nearly cheeky smile seemed to make its way to Howl's face, but eventually was smoothed out before he dared to comment. "Do not tell me you have taken like the school girls and are under some sort of wedding fever, Mother."
The pair laughed, but Howl did need to add "I would not be jealous of such an affair, personally. I do not think I could handle having all of those cameras present all of the time."
"You have a point son."
They could have continued on with the conversation, but that was when their vehicle pulled up to the condo. The woman glanced to her relatively new home away from. "It will be difficult, but I believe we should both try to get some rest. We do need to wake up early enough to ensure we are not late."
Howl laughed once again. "I would not miss this for the world, Mother. It is not everyday Prince William gets married." The lad may have technically been American, but he still had the loyalty of an English subject. In the wee hours of the morning, he would watch along with many others around the world as Prince William and his bride, Kate, were wed. It was a strange feeling for him. To feel such loyalty and devotion to someone who essentially was a complete stranger to him. It was an odd feeling, but for some reason, it felt quite pleasant. Almost calming in a sense.
As Mother had predicted, the cameras were all set in the best locations. Perhaps that was another thing to be proud of. The fact Father had once again managed to record a historic event so smoothly. And if anything, at least Howl could say he had the chance to watch the historic event unfold.

Something MissingWord Count: 552 For many students at Hillworth Grammar School, today was not any different from any other day. Even if it was the day when many of them graduated.
Leave it to a school of hooligans to downplay the importance of an important milestone in their lives. It was not Howl's time to graduate. He had yet another year of Hillworth to endure. However, being the active member of the student body he was, it meant he would still be present for the ceremony. To start off, he was to work gathering the tickets from the various people attending the ceremony. Each student automatically had 2 tickets granted to them, and the students were supposed to order any extra tickets in advance. However, there would always be individuals who failed to follow the rules.
And Howl happened to be at the school where many of the students were masters of failing to follow the rules.
It was interesting to see what sorts of parents belonged to the various peers he had in this facility. He was not impressed necessarily, but occasionally he was pleasantly surprised by what seemed like a relatively normal pair. However, one thing was growing dreadfully annoying for him.
"Thank you Miss!" one proud single mother offered as she checked in.
Howl just smiled in an effort to not make an issue out of this. It was not like he'd be seeing any of these parents and family members again in the future.
Once everyone had been checked in, Howl moved onto the next task. This current task was not anything fantastic. Merely just supervise the stadium during the ceremony. If someone wanted to leave to go back to their vehicle, they had to check in with Howl. Nonetheless to say it was a relatively uneventful task.
It was quite intriguing to watch those in the stadium and how they interacted and reacted to anything happening on the field. The children tended to act pretty much as bored children do. Various parents gathered in groups with others they were familiar with. There were some adults who were polite enough to keep their chatter to just whispering, but many of them weren't so polite, chatting rather loudly, even at the beginning. They were so blatantly rude, even during the songs the band played.
Howl imagined that Waylon Cartier was somewhere amidst the band players that were playing, then had to wander back to the seats in the field. It wouldn't be too long until his roommate would be called as a graduated student. This meant that the Cajun would be done with his term at Hillworth and be out of Howl's life for a while at least. Nothing was forever, as the teal-haired boy had learned.
As he stood there, watching the various people in the audience, he couldn't help but quirk a brow as he noticed something.
They did not mention Waylon Cartier.
For a moment, the lad went back to the tables where he had been passing out the programs for the graduation and flipped through the list of the graduating students. His roommate was indeed missing from the list.
Quite intriguing.
Rather than make a fuss about it, the lad returned to his post. He could ask Waylon about this later. For now, he had a job to do.

Leaving on a Jet PlaneWord Count: 510 He packed his things. That in itself wasn't all that amazing. In all honesty, Howl was more than thrilled to get out of Hillworth for the summer break. Mother had the condo in Destiny City now, so he had a place to go and was no longer stuck on campus for the summer. In fact, his things had been all ready to go when the final day of school had expired. Mother had picked him up with no incident from the front office.
Despite how relieved Howl was to no longer be on the Hillworth campus, he made certain to keep his wits about him. This was not the time to act like a foolish school boy. Mother had asked him about his plans for the first day of summer vacation, and Howl merely replied that it would be lovely to relax with a good book and a cup of tea. There were things he had taken for granted prior to Hillworth. Things that were easier to obtain. It was not as if the school went about offering tea as the common place beverage.
Mother merely laughed at his response. Howl smiled politely and nodded, letting her continue thinking whatever it was she was thinking was silly about his plans.
The few days between leaving the Hillworth facility and shipping out to England were perhaps some of the most relaxing days he had experienced in a long time. The early wake up calls did not exist during the summer, though even the first two days, he couldn't help but wake up early out of sheer habit. Eventually he managed to ease himself into waking up at 7 am each day. Each day he had tea to accompany each meal. Each meal usually consisted of some sort of salad, which was a pleasant change from the grease-soaked pieces of cardboard that Hillworth tried to pass off as food. He tended to Fencing practice appointments at 10am, he practiced his calligraphy starting at 1pm, and he would set aside approximately an hour each day towards packing for his family's yearly vacation. He would watch television at night starting from 6pm until 8pm, then get ready for bed. His nightly regiments did not change much from when he was at Hillworth, aside from the fact he didn't have to room with a Cajun man who hadn't even graduated in the proper year.
Each day was bliss, and it was honestly only getting better each day that passed. Each day that passed meant he was one day closer to the family vacation.
On July 1st, he woke up earlier since much was to happen on this day. He and Mother would need to go to the airport. There was not nearly as much security to tend to since Father had one of the company vehicles there waiting. It only made sense that a man who consistently traveled from Britain to the United States would invest in a private jet.
At approximately 9:35 am, Howl said goodbye to the U.S. Vacation had truly begun now.

Vacation always has to endWord Count: 485 Life had been peaceful. It had been bliss. It had been free of all of the strange events that were everyday occurrences in Destiny City. There were no worries of the youma running loose in the city. No Senshi frolicking about in an effort to rid the city of the youma.
It was splendid to actually have time each day to visit with Father during supper. The man always seemed quite eager to take a break from the talk of business to make time for his son. It more than likely had something to do with the fact business grew tedious after a while. Any fresh breath of air was welcome. Howl had to hold himself back in an effort to hide how much he truly enjoyed his father's company. He did not want to seem desperate, despite how often he was starved of any sort of attention from this man. Even if the whole encounter always felt as if Howl had just participated in a business meeting, it was something that he would cherish each day.
It was also lovely to spend time with Mother. Her own schedule was far more open than Father's, since she actually took the time off from work. The young teal-haired lad would accompany her as she went shopping, went visiting with friends, and even when she visited the countryside to visit with Grandmother. It was lovely to see Mother acting more and more as usual self. In all honesty, it had been his own fault that she had gained a bit of a stricter side to her. If anything, it made him appreciate her gentler, kinder side much more.
In all honesty, his favorite times during this vacation was his visit with Grandmother (or rather, his Mother's mother). Her husband had passed away five years ago, and despite such, she was doing rather well for herself. She maintained herself quite well, keeping herself fit and quite attractive even in her older years. She did not need a wheelchair, a walker, or even a cane. Grandmother did not live in a large house, but it was by choice, not because she could not afford it. A smaller home was easier to maintain. Yet, she was able to maintain her home in a lovely manner.
"It must be lovely to live out here, Grandmother. To be able to enjoy the countryside to the fullest," Howl could not help but comment during lunch. "I must confess, I am rather jealous."
The woman just smiled to him in a proud manner. "I would not trade the life I have lived here for anything in the world, child."
However, a month was honestly not long enough for him. The day eventually came where he had to pack his possessions away in his suitcase and that he had to return to America again. Return to Destiny City. It would be a return to madness.
