The leader thought about it a moment. "Okay, then this." one of them said. "Two of us have the same number of farthings in our pockets, the other has a different amount. We shuffle ourselves, one of you guesses a number. If you're right, that one gets to pass free, wrong and you pay double, we shuffle and the next can guess. Only one can pass free this way. Have we a wager?"
