Mizuki smiled lightly and looked at the blood-stained ground, his eyes lost in the past. "Yes, I can understand that way of thinking. I myself am tired, tired of running to catch up and fighting to stay ahead. Tired of this world we have inherited." He straightened, turning his eyes to the sky, "Some things change, some never do. Take us for instance, we remain at least slightly friends even though both of us desire control of this gate." He gestured with a hand, waving it dismissively at the structure behind them. "My desires are no doubt for different reasons then yours though. I see no reason to venture to and from the human world anymore. Theirs is a world lost in suffering, let them sort out their own mess." Mizuki flexed his arms for a moment, tensing his hands to work the blood back into them, then placed them behind his back in a military fashion. "Besides, if I were to try and take control of this gate, I'd have to kill you then wouldn't I?"

Relaxing his tensed muscles, Mikhail sighed. "This gate is what stands between the bloodiest battle to rage the sereitei and the miniscule bloodshed that's already taken place. Thousands of shinigami remain on earth and if they were to return then our race would surely kill themselves off." Turning his head towards the sun, Mikhail basked in the sunlight. Smiling at Mizuki's words, he turned to face his old friend and laughed a little. "You'd have to try and kill me."

Mizuki smiled lightly at Mikhail's laughter, then reached up and gave his old friend a pat on the back. "It would be an interesting fight, that's for certain. I am confidant in saying that I have a few tricks that even you don't know about." He lowered his hand to his waist and resumed looking out at the broken building surrounding the gate. "Whatever the course of history holds Mikhail, I do hope you and I never have to fight to the death. I feel as if the force of that battle would tear this fragile world asunder."

Crossing his arms across his chest, Mikhail's expression grew serious. Leaning into Mizuki, he whispered in his old friends ear. "We both have an ace in our pocket and I can guarantee that any fight we have will tear any world apart." Tapping his forearm with hsi forefingers, Mikhail took a step away from Mizuki and spoke before he took his leave. "When ones power leaches off ones surroundings, then that person is only as strong as where they stand. When you stand firm, you fight till the ground beneath breaks, not your stance."
With that, Mikhail shunpo'd off to the outer wall, vaulting over top of it and landing on the other side where his presence disappeared altogether. As he dashed through the Sereitei off on a new mission, Mikhail thumbed through his thoughts. Why would he even insinuate we would ever fight? He should know better than anyone that I'm a one hit one kill when I don't feel like toying around with them, so why would he even bring it up? Does he really want to fight me? Unable to shake his thoughts, Mikhail tucked away the prying questions and dashed on deeper and deeper into the Sereitei.

Mizuki smirked lightly to himself as Mikhail left. He could tell that his actions were confusing the fellow captain. This mattered little to him at the moment however, he was preoccupied with another feeling, something he had not felt for a long time. He closed his eyes for a moment, then vanished with a small puff of dust, flash-stepping to an unknown location.

Kusari wondered over to the gate. "Why am I still here? Everything Soul Society once stood for has been diminished into a boiling pot of crap. What happened to democracy? Why not just allow the squad members to vote on a new general and end this nonsense." He began to wonder if anyone else say things through his eyes. Soul Society was meant to be a step away from heaven, but if this was heaven Kusari could barely imagine hell. Some days it seemed like Hueco Mundo was better organized than the chaos that Soul Society had become. The only thing that held him to this place was training. If he were fully trained he would have deeply considered leaving soul society and joining the Arracar in their quest to end this wretched piece of filth. Even more so the question was called to mind if Kusari was even worthy of being a divine protector while thoughts like these ran through his head.

Kusari saw the hell butterfly lazily floating towards him and let go a sigh of anguish. He didn't feel like working right now. He approached the slow moving article of beauty and held out his finger for it to land on. "All Captains and Lieutenants will attend the captains meeting taking place later today. The butterfly disappeared from Kusari's finger and he simply replied, "And so must I my friend, so must I." He sped off into a flash step towards the sou taicho's meeting room to take his place amongst the others.
