"Oh, then I'll definitely have to keep coming by. I'm sure Oni won't mind introducing me to them all. I suppose I might even run into you a time or two, if you come over to empty her pantry when I'm over." She jabbed him playfully in the side. "Unless, of course, you get lax and your sister does manage to slip you something. In which case I guess I wouldn't be seeing you again." Her eyes twinkled in the darkness.

Oh ho!! She was a real fire ball!!! Aidan grinned, grabbing her hand when she pulled away from the poke. If she was going to push the limits, then he was going to push them further! He held onto her hand with a smile.
"Well yes, I suppose it'll happen one day, and no one will cry for me but Oni... but thus is life. Of course, maybe you'd cry too, letting some one such as myself just slip through your fingers."

She yelped a bit when he grabbed her hand, not expecting it, but then settled her hand into his. "Not cry... maybe more of a fleeting feeling. I certainly wouldn't want to see Oni upset, you know." She grinned at him, teasing.

When she yelped his grip softened. He hadn't meant to scare her or anything. He smirked just a tad, and looked up at the sky with a deep breath.
"No, I'd never want to see Oni upset. I have a few times, when she's remembered her blasted mate... it's a heart breaking thing."
It was very depressing, and tainted the idea of falling in love. At least, just a tad. Both Oni and Waka, her nephew, had lost love in such a manner. Waka had found love again, but Oni? He looked down at Azzura with a bittersweet smile.
"Love is something no one should take lightly. That is the lesson I learned from Oni."

Him sobering put a damper on her playful mood, and she frowned to herself. "No... I suppose not. I can't imagine what it would be like to lose someone you care about that much. But then, I haven't met anyone yet that I feel anything like that kind of connection to. I hope I do someday. I think even with the risk that something could go wrong, it would still be more than worth it."

She had her points, and Aidan didn't let go of her hand. He smirked, leaning in so that their faces were closer together.
"You have a point there Miss Azzura. A beautiful fae such as yourself should always hope for love, it could be even staring you in the face."
Of course, he was just trying to tease. Wiggling his eyebrows at the end to make it less serious, and more funny.

She laughed, as he'd probably expected. "I suppose it could," she replied, teasingly poking his nose. "Get out of the way so I can take a look?" She grinned. "Have you ever had anyone?"

Always dancing just out of reach with wit. Aidan laughed right along side her and moved to a more comfortable distance away. But still he didn't let go of her hand, Aidan didn't know why though. It just felt warm.
"No, never. Some sweet fae have tried to catch my eye but none of them were... right? They were sweet, with no spice. Cute, but not beautiful I guess. Any normal boy would probably want to take them home to Mom, but I... have never wanted to be so eager to find love. I think it finds you instead."
He was musing out loud really, trying to explain his situation.

Azzurra nodded. "That sounds reasonable. Better to find the right one, rather than just anyone." She squeezed his hand. "I'm sure you'll find the right fae someday, though." She lapsed into silence, not sure what else to say.
Around them, the woods were getting darker and thicker. If she'd been paying attention to them, instead of to Aidan, she would have understood why she'd been warned against walking this way at night.

Aidan hadn't been paying attention to where they were going either. The tall fae had been paying attention to Azzura after all! And what fae would pay attention in such a situation? He looked around without seeing, instead only having eyes for Azzura.
"Someday, somewhere. I'll make sure to trot her in front of Oni and yourself to get approval."
He smirked, joking around once again. It seemed that their conversation always took a serious tone when he never meant it to.

She nodded with a mock-serious expression. "Of course, naturally my approval is as important as hers - and more important than anyone else's." She broke into a teasing grin. "We can't let just any girl have you."

Aidan smirked, enjoying their conversation. He really hadn't had a sit down conversation to a girl he wasn't related to in awhile. Funny how that was. Suddenly, his ears perked up. He could hear something... scraping along stone. Like a claw being dragged down. Instantly he was on the alert, looking around for some sign that they were not alone. This didn't sound good.

Azzurra didn't notice the sound, and continued walking along beside him with her hand in his. They were reaching the darkest part of the woods, and the night noises helped mostly cover their pursuer's sounds. Any attack would be coming soon.

Aidan was on the alert, his senses stretching their normal limits to try and see what was going on. He gave a smile, trying to act calm despite the situation. And then, there it was. The nails dragging on the rock were louder, like a screech. And an almost silent chuckle sounded in the middle of the wind. Someone was out their, hunting them.
The tall fae's smile instantly faded. He pulled Azzura to a stop, and pulled her in close. The closer she was the easier it would be to protect her. He looked all around, trying to find the source.

The young female was still oblivious up until Aidan pulled her to a stop. She instantly went on edge. "What's wrong?" she asked, clearly worried, and quickly becoming a little scared. She curled up against the much taller fae, taking some comfort from him - he wouldn't let anything happen to her. Now that she was listening, she too began to notice small odd sounds, a twig snapping, pebbles shifting as whoever was following them moved.
The baddie hidden in the foliage realized they had noticed him, and his lips pulled back in a silent snarl. More careful to move without drawing attention to himself, he made his way from where the fae was focusing. There, he paused, waiting to see if they had been able to follow his movements.
