Vossa was already heading on out the door, when the emmissary for KDY came to announce his presence, and intention to hold discussions with her. She gave a sideways glance towards the chrono and pouted. Knowing the kuati, they were always aristocratic and stubborn, requiring an immense amount of tact to make sure one didn't get stuck into formalized apologies. Meanwhile, there was the entire need of her to witness the counter rebuttal, something which she fully intended to comply to. A choice of evils lay before her feet.

"Show the representative to quarters. I'll send my Assistant senator to the floor. Whatever bodyguards he has, make sure he leaves them on his ship. If he is so set on talking to me, he shouldn't feel threatened when doing so."

The blast doors of the Engineering Operations Center slid open, revealing a grim collection of Mandalorians and drawing surprised looks from the Quarren working at the computers.

Without a word, stunblasts slammed into the technicians, knocking them unconcious.

The Mandalorians swept out to secure the room and Jag motioned the astromech to a terminal.

The droid plugged itself in and began to work, the pirates keeping an unsteady watch.

The op was going smoothly. Too smoothly.

Jag's grip on his pistols tightened as he waited for either a charlie foxtrot grade situation to plop in his lap, or for the droid to finish its work.
Whichever came first.

Teroch pushed open the durasteel doors labeled Depo #117, into the dark and silent room. Behind him steadily followed his squad, his always faithful and trustworthy brothers. When they had all entered the room, and the lights had not gone on automatically, Teroch located and tried a manual lever which seemed to do the job.

The Depo was exactly that; an older, unused storage Depo. Silver (most likely) steel containers lie strewn around in piles that once must have been neat stacks, a couple pallets and crate were lying about, and the floor was covered in a almost solid layer of dirt and dust. In the corner, a very broken down speeder bike sat in a state of sad disrepair.

Set me up some obstacles and make shift bunkers, boys. Make due with what we got here, I'll ask for some more.

Teroch called in to the platoon quartermaster, asking for a few simple items such as sandbags, helmets with lights, and other various otherwise worthless trinkets.

Oriss stared at her knuckles. They had grown hard and swollen from the constant training, and her palms were no different. She could probably draw a knife across the bulk and not draw blood.

"How unfeminine," she said to herself. She looked at the rest of her clothing, giving a sigh over the appearance. A Jedi must not love, that's what she was told so much as a young child. Flirting however, why not every once in a while? But lust was still not highly looked upon. Oriss took a big sigh and released the pent-up tension. She began to meditate in the garden by crossing her legs and closing her eyes. The world around her exploded in an array of colors and clouds of energy. Levitating herself off the ground just a bit, Oriss let the Force flow through her and look into the future. It never held any answers, but ever since the death of the Senator Palpatine, she had found it much easier to see. The last several months only showed her scenes of war. The battle droids with guns blazing scarred her visions. Oriss could only conclude that the future would lead to war, and the Republic's final hour could be felt all too well.

Barely a minute after the data was retrieved, a security droid team entered the room on a patrol.

The B1's took stock of the situation and were about to act when the Mandalorians made them pay for their hesitation with hot bolts of energy.

"Time to go." Jag announced.

He motioned for his Mandalorians to head back out into the hall as he radioed the ship.

"Gorobe."

"Yeah, Cap'n?"

"We got the goods. Heading back. Get the ship ready."

"We are ready, but there's this Recusant out here that's been giving us the eye. Brand new, too."

"Sink it."

"Huh?"

"Its just one Recusant. Aim for the Engine Spar and sever it. That'll leave it floating and cause a build-up of energy in its reactor, forcing it into an emergency shutdown. If its brand new, its not fully crewed yet."

Jag suddenly turned his head to look at one of his men looting the unconscious quarren.

He took a step in the man's direction and then delivered a swift kick to the man's backside.

"Moekno you dumb barve!" Jag barked harshly as the pirate snatched up his weapon and scrambled out the doors. "You slack off again and I'll roast your brain inside your own bucket!"

He turned back to his call, giving the room a last visual sweep before he shooed the droid out too and brought up the rear.

"Like I said, we're on our way. Deal with that destroyer and be ready. We're gonna be real popular in a hurry."

Very popular indeed. Security Team 542 had all been planted with homing beacons, like every other security team. These fed directly off the droid's circuitry, so when the droids went down, they turned off. As soon as they disengaged, warning signals went up all over the main security room.

It was clear they had a breech.

No sooner had the droids gone down, than the Quarrens working the security feeds tracked down where the signals had turned off, and looked at the holocam feeds. Naturally they found the Mandalorian team, a very unwelcome surprise. The officer gave an order, and moments later, claxons were blaring.

It was only a matter of time before B2s and Droidekas started arriving.

The entire facility shook as the shockwaves from the destroyed Recusant spread through the water. The Mandalorians were almost knocked to their feet.

Regaining their barings, the pirates pushed onwards, swiftly retracing their steps as the alert sounded.

A sudden rolling sound got the squad's attention and they saw a pair of droidekas pop up and deploy shields behind them. The blue light from the windows shone upon their intimidating blaster cannons, easily enough firepower to cut down the entire squad.

"Stop. Drop your weapons." Came the dull, mechanical order.

"Kark it," Cursed one of the pirates, "What're we gonna do Cap'n?"
Without a second thought, Jag blasted out the window near the Destroyer droids.

The full force of the Ocean poured in and smashed the Droidekas against the opposing wall with hammering force, crushing them before an emergency pressure field snapped into place to hold the water out.

"Don't soil yourself, idiot. For all their teeth, they're still just stupid battle droids. The Environment favors us and we have the initiative. Now shut up and move."

The squad hustled back on their way, nearly to the ship and safety.

The breech in the outer wall managed to flood an entire section of corridor, crushing two Droidekas and a squad of B2s. The destruction of the Recuscant on duty lost a good many lives, and in short, the Mandos got what they wanted.

By the time the emergency teams were reporting on site and back-up security ships were arriving, they were long gone. Left to assess the damage, they began backing up the system, recovering it, trying to see just what had been stolen, and trying to figure out why.

Giddean Kuat nodded to the guards, "Sorry, but I guess the good senator is afraid of you." There was a soft chuckle from one of the guards.

"Well then, you watch the ship. I'll go speak to the senator." Giddean headed for the turbolift and the senatorial quarters.

After a brief shootout with Manta fighters, vulture droids, and a second Recusant which left the seps with a lot of scrap, the Ruusan had escaped into hyperspace. on an indirect route bach to the Hydian way.

Now in his quarters, Jag held in his hand the data chit containing all the data regarding the Akula class of Corvettes. After a while, a small dragon-like creature fluttered seemingly out of no-where to land on his shoulder, giving a curious hiss.

"We did it, Jango." Jag said to the creature as he scratched it behind its head. "The Ruusan's safe now."

He plugged the data-chit into his computer and began studying the schematics with an interest, the Tailring having hopped off his shoulder to roost on a pipe hanging over the desk.

"We'll take a twisting route back to the home ship," he muttered to the animal, "refuel and rearm, then give the men some time off. Its probably the only way to pay them for going on this mission. Then you and I have some business to tend to on Brentaal IV. Going to have to move fast before the Seps figure out the whole story."

Vossa stared at the holoscreen beside her desk, tuned to the local senate channel, her eyes fixated in a stare which threatened to burn a hole in the wall. Her head tresses twitched irritably, although there were few creatures in the senate who could put up such minute signals, much less in her room. Many of her opponents came from the systems which had already gone through their reconstruction programs, and found her constant inciting of the rebuilding of the republic little more than annoying dribble which had been said before. Today was no different, as she listened to the speech. The sound of the turbolift alerted her to another's presence, though she still stayed glued to the images being played. A small remote recorded the session, before muting it.

"Well, I guess it could be worse," Vossa muttered, "I coudl be entertaining a Confederate representative..." Her mood lightened, as a classic smile adorned her face as she stared into the mirror, adjusting her dress again.

"Considering the deal that was just brokered on Kuat some of your colleagues would view a Kuati and a Confederate as one and the same." Giddean smiled slightly at the Senator. "Of course those same colleagues have little grasp of anything besides their personal ambitions."

"And considering everything Kuat does reflects on you yourself, One might also point out that such comments only strengthen the case that you are one in the same as the Confederacy, at best," she smirked back, dressing her head up a tad before turning to view him. "Kuat rarely gives us her presence besides buisness matters anymore; how come we never see you for a nice brunch?"
PostPosted: Thu Aug 13, 2009 1:06 pm

"Kuat serves no ones interests but its own, and its interests tend to be that of business interests." Giddean furrowed his brow. "I doubt you have full knowledge of the scale of the deal just reached by Kuat with the Confederacy. They've begun a military buildup the scale of which has not been seen since the war, and they were willing to overpay by several orders of magnitude. I doubt I need to tell you what this means for the Republic."

"It means certain doom, if the figures are even half of what you boast. The republic barely has a standing defense, much less trained crews and soldiers like the Confederacy. That is partly why we've been going more towards peace, because we simply do not have a tenth the military resources we shoudl to hold a worthwhile stand."
