a man, dressed in a smooth black suit and silk shirt, knocked on the door lightly. he didnt seem bothered by the dark lights.. nor the lack of people. in fact, he had been counting on it in case Miss De La Vonti didnt agree.

hearing the knock she didnt hesitate, kicking the door with her toe as she picked up a box of personal things. " whats up?" she asked, casting a glance at the door way. seeing the man she tensed, saying carefuly. " you should not be in here, visiting hours are 9am to 11 pm." she had thought it was Jane, the nurse who stayed late on most week nights.

reading her expression the man smiled slightly, amused. she was a pretty little thing.. but only a fool would mess with her now. " just some of your time, Miss. my employer would like to speak to you.. its imporant." keeping his tone light he stepped into the office, closeing the door behind him firmly. with a carefuly study he noted the packed boxs, his expression becomeing amused. she was running.. that made things simpler on the questioning end. offering his hand he smiled charmingly, applying all of his thieves skill as he said softly. " come with me, he is hurting.. and we need a healer."

her green eyes narrowed and she studied him closely, unnerved by his indifference. he didnt seem phased in the least that it was past visiting hours, or that her office was bare. but someone was hurt.. biteing her lower lip she considered it, her healing instincts telling her to agree.. while the darker side yelled a denial. that was what settled it, her hand takeing his to tune out the shadows in her. " alright.. for a bit."

his smile was pure demonic satisfaction, his fangs in full length as he pulled on his masters energy. he would not allow her a chance to rethink.. his master wanted her, he would not let her go now that she agreed. in a flash the office was empty, the boxs gone as well as the man and Shay. all that remaind was a sheet of paper on the desk, Miss. De La Vonti's resignation and a small note explaining her need to leave suddenly. there was no forwarding adress.

Samantha was behind the building, sitting against one of the walls, relaxing with partially closed eyes. She had been enjoying the bit of seclusion from view that the back part of the church offered. She took out a small little book and began sketching something.

Asa walked lightly along the side walk, ignoreing the cold stone under his bare feet as he sat on the church steps. leaning forward he braced his elbows on his knees, black hair falling from his shoulders to hang around his face like a shield. He knew what had killed his Mate.. and he could never change what had happened to her. She was gone, and he was left in this tainted world alone. so he sat, silent, intimidateing, and cold on the church steps.. lost in thought.

Asta walked into the cathedral with a black roasry in her hand. Ember waited outside as she sat in front of the altar and began to pray silently to herself.

The click of claws on stone made him stir, his gold gaze resting on the small fox with a mild amusement. without thought he offered his hand, still lost in thought when a voice made him growl and leap up. his posture relaxed as he took in the white fur, his voice still gruff as he rumbled. " Relic, Do not sneak around like that."
With a helpless amusement the Jackel lifted his clawed hands, his ears back as he offered a fanged grin. " Sorry Uncle, a few centuries of it and its habit. the wolf Jack informed me you were out, i came to talk." he was not fool enough to ask how the elder Jackel felt.. that would only get hostility from him. crouching down on his haunchs he scratched his too human face, carful of his sharp nails as he studied Ember near them. " Cute Fox.. think she is lost?"

Ember whimpered and looked towards Asta with dismay. She barked sharply for her attention. Asta opened her eyes from prayer and sighed. "Ember, hush!" Ember barks again. This time Asta turns around and sees the two figures near Ember. "Back away from her!" She says running to them.

Still in hi s Jackal form Relic held his hands up, both confused and wary of the girls actions. " calm down Miss, i was just worried for her. Fox's dont travel this far into a City." he didnt seem to realize how alien he would look, his tail brushing the ground as it wagged slightly and his ears pinned back with unease. standing strait he balanced on his pawed feet, his claws clicking softly as he backed up to give them room.
Asa, however, didnt seem to even glance at the girl or the fox. he simply sat back on the steps, inhaled a breath, and ignored them. nothing really ruffled him anymore.

Asta knelt down to Ember, the crucifix on her roasry touching the ground. She looked up at the figure. "I-It's fine. I'm Asta and this is Ember." She says with a slight grin.

" I am Relic, pleasure to meet you two." as he gestured to the man on the steps a low growl drifted in the air, Relic's fur bristleing as he took a step to the side.. away from the older man. it was clear he was not going to introduce Asa, the darker Jackal in his human form. The ancient Egyptian rarely interacted much with others, pushing him to do so just made him edgy. recovering he offered both the fox and the girl a fanged grin, bowing elegantly as he added playfully. " Forgive my grouchy companion, he is mute when it suits him. what brings you to St. Francis, if i may ask?"

Aeryn stumbled into the church and almost tripped over her own feet. She looked up at Asa and smiled. "Hello Asa, nice to see you again." She fell to the ground and gripped her bleeding sides. "Don't try to steal from hunters by the way, they feel and hear everything." She laid down on the floor and hoped she would pass out, but it didn't really work that way.

With a bound Asa was up, starting to lift the girl as rage turned his eyes orange. she was part of his pack, anyone who dared to do this... they were already dead, they just didnt know it yet. when a restraining hand caught his shoulder he snarled, snaping his head around to see Relic next to him. the younger Jackal didnt back down.. and Asa growled. " Pack-mate. Need to heal.. kill them."
" Your too drained to heal her." Relic said softly.. showing for once his well hidden Alpha nature. he could, and had been, keeping Asa calm since his mates death.. this litte theif getting hurt was throwing off his attempts though. pulling Asa way he added quietly. " You kill them, its your right to protect us.. i swear ill keep her safe." without preamble Relic lifted her, his ears pinning flat as her blood soaked his fur. " You know im right. Back off."
With slow steps he let Relic take her, laying a hand on her cheek as he promised.. his voice accented thickly as he started to shift. " You will not die, Aeryn. ill tear them apart for this."
