Kaida squealed and jumped out of the way, only to bump into the castle and accidentally give it a layer of gold.

Zaraya drew in a deep breath, "Kallan look!"
Zaraya's surprise caught Dahlia off guard, stopping her splashing, "What...oh..." She managed, as the sun caught the glint of the now gilded castle.
Kallan was torn in two. He wanted to admire the castle, at what she'd done to his creation, but he wanted her to feel safe with them too. He bit his lip, trying to figure out what to do. "Yeah...it's nice..." Maybe not drawing too much more attention to it was the right way, he thought.
"Nice?" Dahlia asked," Nice? It's covered in gold that wasn't there before...and all you can say is nice?"

Kaida cringed away from them, horrified. This was what always happened. She slipped up, made a mistake and broke something or hurt someone, and then those that might have been friends started yelling at her, chasing her away.
"I'm so sorry," she whimpered, backing away slowly. "I didn't mean to... It was an accident... I'm sorry I broke your castle..."

Kallan frowned, confused. "But...you didn't break it...it didn't even hurt it...so there's no reason to be scared. It just...happened."
Zaraya smiled, "Yeah, if anything, you made it better!"
"Yeah! Why didn't you tell us you could do something cool like that?" Dahlia flew up into the air and looked at it from above. "You should see it from up here! It's all sparkly and shiny!"

"You're... you're not mad?" she looked between the three siblings, amazed and more than a little confused. She had never thought her curse to be... pretty.

"Why would we be mad?" Zaraya tilted her head, being mad had never even crossed her mind as a possibility.
Dahlia shook her head, "Nah, there's nothing to be mad about. Do you know how many sand castles that Zar and I have destroyed of Kallan's?"
"Yeah...they've done their share of destroying...you just made this one prettier." Kallan smiled, "And it looks so much better."

"It....it does?" Okay, it was official. These kids were weird.

"Yeah!" Zaraya chirped, "Now it's a castle fit for a king!"
Dahlia nodded, agreeing eagerly with her sister.
Kallan smiled, "It is."

"Yeah I can. I'll just start a new one," was his reply.
"Kallan builds lots of castles anyway." Dahlia nodded.
"And this next one maybe we can help with more." Zaraya squealed eagerly, clearly excited by the idea of helping to build a castle from start to finish."

"So... You're really not upset?" Kaida asked, doubtfully. Regardless, she could feel the tension easing out of her shoulders. These were odd creatures, but maybe she could still visit with them for a bit longer.

"Not mad. Promise." Kallan smiled again, "So you'll still play with us?"

"Yay!" Zaraya grinned and flopped around awkwardly on the beach.
Dahlia rolled her eyes, "We're glad that you'll still play with us."
"Yes we are." Kallan's friendly smile came easily. "More castles for us!"

"I... I've never built a castle from the start," Kaida admitted, trying to ignore the warm feeling she was getting from their acceptance. Fuzzy feelings usually led to harsh ones when things went south.
