He nodded. "All right. We need to hurry; upstairs is the least safe area in a fire. Also, we need to get ourselves out before it's too late. Two minutes, then we're leaving."
He began opening doors and continued shouting.

There were sounds of children crying a little ways up - the door itself was on fire, but nothing around it appeared to be, oddly. Perhaps the fire was in the walls here. That meant they didn't have much time.
Then there was the sound of splintering wood and shattering glass within the same room. Oh, s**t.

"'Ey!" Finnegan cut in as he arrived at the house, now breaking into a jog, "Isn't anybody gonna do anything? There's a yougin' up there!"
He shook his head and sighed, "I'm goin' in." he said as he stripped off his jacket and ran towards the building. His foot made contact with the wall and he used this to push himself up to the nearest window and grabbed hold. He pulled himself in and began searching for the source of the sound.

Well, nothing for it. Schraeder raised a foot and laid a solid kick right next to the doorknob.
When the burning door fell away, he leaned in and shouted, "Come on!"

He got up to the window only to found himself beat into the room by a flying gentleman with a shattered stone shield floating on his arm and a mace of similar material embedded in the far wall. Several small children and a woman were crouched within, the children crying in terror.
The Thief followed the man in, embedding the knife in the wall behind him, barely missing Stone Man's face. Very Serious Man and Lizzie followed The Thief in, grouping up and trying to grab him. Very Serious Man was kicked back out; Lizzie narrowly avoided it and tried to stab The Thief with an energy lance, which was parried... with The Thief's arm. Huh.
That was certainly odd.

Adela followed after Schraeder and looked for the source of the noise.

What the ******** is this? Finnegan wondered, cautious to pull himself into the window. But, damn, the kids need my help!
With a sigh, he pulled himself into the window, he knew he would probably regret this later.
He stood firmly and projected his voice, "Hey, now, can't you see you're scarin' the youngins?" he said to the two, "Take this fight somewhere else, if you will, just leave the children be."

"Oh, another receptive one, hmm?" The Thief declared.
"Get... away... from them!" Lizzie roared, striking out again, the lance flaring. It slipped past his parrying blow, and slammed into the wood beneath them. The wood splintered and all three of the ones there fell as Very Serious Man entered the building and dropped after them.
The kids needed to get out - now the floor was even worse, and it would require incredible caution.

Finnegan was horribly confused. Receptive one? he wonder, What the hell does he mean by that? Oh well, he wasn't complaining, at least they were gone, even if the exit was rather strange. What mattered now was getting these kids to safety. Good thing Finnegan was rather agile and had excellent balance. He cautiously made his way over to the children, stepping lightly and testing the ground with each step.
"Now, now, don't move, laddies." he told them.

A throwing knife shattered the wood to Finnegan's right, destabilizing the portion of the house he was standing on. It began to collapse, slowly. Flames licked up from below - the people were fighting in the fire and punching holes all throughout the house. He had maybe thirty seconds.

Since he was apparently being ignored, Schraeder grabbed Adela's hand and led her back downstairs and outside.

"s**t!" Finnegan swore as he caught his balance. He remembered the children, "I mean...uh..."ship"." he corrected. He growled, no time for caution now, luckily he could still be fairly careful and speedy at the same time. He sped to the kids and scooped them up, one in each arm and another around his neck, "Hang on, lads, I'll get ya to safety." he assured them, heading to leave the room, the window was far too dangerous for the kids.
"Come on, honey, hop on my back."

Since Adela was being ignored along with Schraeder, she walked along with him until they got outside. "So....there's a burning building, an epic battle, and us." There was a moment of silence before Adela let out a huge sigh. "God...I don't think we have enough Scotch to deal with this crap." But then again, this was a dream. Therefore, there should be plenty and plenty of liquor...right?

The floor cracked and began to give. Finnegan realized that he was going to fall into the inferno.
There were indeed people down there in the flames, fighting through them - they didn't seem to have noticed. There were even more than before, and The Thief seemed harder pressed to keep them all back.
Finnegan, however, had a split second decision. He could either take the risk of jumping and perhaps not even get close, or he could secure the entire family with the time he had but almost certainly fall into the fire - he might survive, maybe. It was extremely difficult to say.
