Lady Angelishia Like maybe: 1- Gypsies 2- Dark Carnival [Like Bliss' Idea] 3- Fortune Teller 4- Clowns 5- The Rides 6- Animals 7- The Stands I really like Angelishia's idea. The 'dark carnival' room could be a select show that tuned dark or something. We could even turn that into a mystery for the guests to figure out. As for the animals, we could have some really cool costumes for that. I can also think of possible problems for many rooms. A ride could break down, the animals could get loose. There could also be a single person (from the dark tent?) sabotaging things? I'll try and come up with ideas that make sense. XD

TemporalMeteor animemangakuryujiru Temporal- yea a lot would be hard for people to go about doing. But then again, variety calls for more excitement and fun. Which is what keeps us going back to the theme park. Honestly, who goes to Universal or Disney for one day only? XD if we can, we should extend the length of the ball =0 3 days is just not enough fun (for me at least XD) oh and... me! i buy season passes and go whenever cause i live 1 hour away blaugh well at least you got a season pass XD I meant who buys a one day ticket? D: ooh you think we can create a game of some sort? Its just like the contests, but not like those drawings, writing etc we should still have those (since they are classic!) but we can have a different type of game....just thinking of what yet XD I got some but I'm not sure how to execute it; I also thought of using Sims Carnival to create games but I dont know if thats allowed. Sims Carnival allows us to create our own games, so if possible we should maybe create a game or two and let people play it =D so high scorer wins x3 And I think if we go with the fortune tellers and gypsies idea, they should be together. Since gypsies do fortune telling in addition to other seasonal work. Its hard to just separate the gypsies from fortune telling. There'll be little for them to do without it. oh, and what does people think of a Host Club theme? <_<;

That would be so much fun!!! if only we could get Gaia to have like an outfit contest so the members of Gaia could make outfits for it..like they do sometimes...

Thanks! I like that idea. -nod- Though with the carnival... Will there be room for people to dance and everything?
What would be the reason for the ball? Maybe like the ringleader opened up the circus for free one night to hold a giant party celebrating the carnival? x.x I dunno. But I thinks we need to make sure that even with an idea as unique as a carnival that there's room for pretty dresses and dancing. <3
The Greek Mythology thing would be good too though, don't you think? I think if the Gods and Goddesses were fighting over something, we could easily have an rp plot. Which I think was the problem when we discussed it last night. And that definitely leaves room for some pretty costumes and dancing.

I decided to try and come up with rooms for the Mythology idea. Because I think I may actually like that better than the carnival, even though the carnival is an awesome idea. But like it was suggested earlier, the Gods could easily decide to hold a celebration for all us mortals~
So here are my room suggestions for that: Okies. So I looked it up and there are 14 Olympian Gods and Goddesses. 6 Goddesses and 8 Gods.
[Main Room] - Zeus [This could take place on a series of clouds, or something like that.]
1. [The Room of Wisdom and Arts] -Goddess Athena of Wisdom and Arts + God Apollo of the Sun and Music [This room could take place in someplace like a library or a museum] 2. [The Room of Life] -Goddess Hestia of the Hearth and Goddess Hera of the Family [This room could take place in someplace simple and earthly like a tavern.] 3. [The Sea Room] -God Poseidon of the Sea and Sirens[?] [This one could take place on a boat or by the sea.] 4. [The Marketplace] -God Hermes of Trade and God Hephaestus of Metallurgy [This could take place in a center of trade or at a fancy auction with lots and lots of shiny things] 5. [The Celebration] -Goddess Demeter of the Harvest and God Dionysus of Merrymaking [*Dionysus is listed as the God of Wine, but maybe we could make him God of Merrymaking so that we don't have to mention Wine or alcoholic drinks?] [This room could just take place at a giant party, maybies? There could be a giant feast set up, or something.] 6. [The Dark Room] -God Ares of War and God Hades of the Underworld [This could take place in a really darkly decorated castle-thing or in a cave.] 7. [The Room of Beauty] -Goddess Aphrodite and Nymphs[?] [This room could take place in a beautiful garden setting, or a lavishly decorated parlor.] 8. [The Forest Room] -Goddess Artemis of the Hunt and various forest creatures [This could take place in a forest. >w<]
Those are just some ideas. -nod-
The one potential problem I see with this theme is time. Do we set it in ancient Rome? Or say that the Greek Gods and Goddesses came to present day Gaia to share their joy?

Hey folks,
I think there was some confusion in what I felt the Non-RP rooms would be used for. It wouldn't be completely for the sake of asking questions. It would be events/activities that simply did not require the person participating to have to role play. As Naryx said, he's not really a role player. There is a large percent of the user base that falls into that category.
However, that's not to say that I don't think we should eliminate RP, but it is my theory that if we cater to both RPers and Non-RPers, each will thrive better separately more so than compiling both crowds together.
My next bit of curiosity seems to lead me to wonder where some of the pre-set molds are coming from. Is there a reason why we are wanting to focus on 7 rooms? Or for that matter, rooms at all? Or are we wanting to set this carnival idea inside of a Ball Room.. and decorate the ball as a carnival? And, btw, replace carnival with any of the other ideas like game boards and goddesses, etc.
I may looking far more out of the box than I should be.
Oh and as for how those machines that spit out fortunes.. generally they're automated fortunes that come out when someone puts a coin in. No quiz would really be needed. Just randomized funnies.
I also have a friend that does tarot spreads that might be able to lend his services if we go to this direction.
As for doing an amusement park setting-- as much as I like the concepts of amusement parks, I'm not entirely sure we should re-create disney again as we just did that. Maybe a fair/circus that encompasses a carnival. The mystique associated with a carnival is far different than an amusement park. Its like apples to oranges-- even though they're both still fruit the taste is not quite the same.
There is sooooo much to mythology that there is no way we wouldn't have enough activities and plots to work with if we went with a gods/goddesses theme. As long as we didn't isolate the entire focus to one or two gods. But, there are tons and tons of demi-gods and amazing greek mythology stories that we could wrap a large scale event around.
I'm a bit skeptical on the board games-- but depending on how it was set up it could be a blast or an entire fail.. but too soon to tell on that, yet it definitely would be very unique.

I think the idea of gods/goddesses would be fun. However, I think a carnival would be more creative, and intrigue more people.

I forgot to touch on the science fiction idea. I'm not against it, but I can't say that I am entirely entertained by the idea. Maybe should you elaborate on it I might be more won over on it.

Pixelated has a point I actually didnt visit the rooms much or at all because they were all Role Playing and I is the suck >.<
If we were to have a neutral non RPing thread or maybe several with different topics, like art or maybe general discussion, we would have a lot more people participate.
Also on what lady angelishia said I agree wit here room choices but i disagree with some of her settings I think we should go more with unearthly rooms that might be found on Olympus or in the other realms like the underworld. I think we could get a lot of the info from books or even if we want something more modernish the show Hercules.
Unfortunately I have to go I will be back later to discuss the games we could have

There really weren't a ton of 'realms'. And greek mythology seems to be a pretty overused roleplaying theme, so we'd need to put a twist on it.

Mythology and carnival stuff is both heavily over used-- but, that's likely because they've been tried and tested throughout the times. And, well, with roots that strong they never seem to lose their pizazz. In fact, I think the mythology games is what triggered carnival stuff. But, before I completely geek out on this topic, lol, I do like both suggestions and agree we would have to be very creative to use either without having that sense of "Oh god.. not another event like this.." feel.
I'd say if we were to really want to go into a "fresh" direction.. it'd likely be board games. Games like candyland and mousetrap where you have various hurdles and such that you must go through. Using RNG to allow people to move through the board. Making up cards to use for the game kinda like those of Monopoly. Certain places on the board to trigger mini-events. Though.. If we didn't use board games, I think I might end up doing a candy land event at some point.. maybe around christmas. Cus I got this zany idea in my head that could work for Life or Candyland, or a hybrid of various elements of each of the games to come up with a game that could be very suitable for Gaia. haha. Only problem with board games is I think they will either hit or miss on the audience. We'd also need to trouble shoot these games and test them out before we launched them to the public. And I'd imagine we'd want to use a D&D style rp with them to make them flow well.
Thinking more on it, though.. If we were to go with an amusement park, we could also encompass a board game as like an interactive ride/game. Not sure if anyone here has played WoW-- where you are in the instance that is like a chess board.. where you take control of the piece on the board and you play as that piece.

I have to say, when I said I like the carnival idea, I was definitely thinking a much more open carnival/faire/circus affair. It's more fun that way, and not nearly as difficult to diversify as you'd get with a simple carnival theme. And I actually find myself agreeing with Envy; though I love the 7 deadly sins idea, and the "dark carnival", it's very limiting on its own. With the "all of the above" approach, it gives the chance for a lot more opportunities. Some ideas for rooms, off the top of my head- The Gypsy Caravan The Bigtop(main area, possibly?) The "Freak Show"(wording can be changed if this is offensive to anyone, it'd be where I'd think the 7 deadly sins would fit in) The Tavern (concessions, possibly a food centered costume contest) Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! (do I really have to explain? razz ) It's All Fun and Games... (until somebody loses an eye!)
Plotwise, I had an idea of some kind of shady "Ringleader" who's pulling the strings behind the scenes. He could be the one who threw open the doors of the "land of games and grins and endless possibilities" for however many days. Possibly he could be involved with T-Corp? In any case, he would have some kind of bad intentions. IF WE WENT WITH THE CARNIVAL!!! I'm not trying to push, I just had some ideas I wanted to share here so I wouldn't forget them.
I really like the idea of the Gods and Goddesses as well, being the geek that I am. There are a lot of possibilities, and I'm trying to think of some kind of spin we could put on it to keep it from getting old. Maybe Zeus was throwing a party because someone had stolen his lightening bolts(sign of authority, officially he can't keep his fellow gods in line without them?) and he was trying to figure out which of the gods stole them. That adds a fun sort of "murder mystery" feel to it.
I have a question though. If we were to go with the Gods and Goddesses idea, would we have to go with Greek gods only? Because I'm quite partial to several pantheons, and I think the idea of all the different pantheons mingling would be fun. Maybe each of them sent representatives to a party (for what reason I have no idea at the moment). I love Norse gods, as well as Hindu and Egyptian, and I think it would be more original to mix and match all of them. ^_^

About the Gods theme, if that were to happen, I think Zeus should be located on Mount Olympus rather than clouds lol we should probably try to stick to their original areas than make it modern, since that might turn off some people.
But in all honesty, I still think that the carnival idea and Gods ideas, its good, but its not something that I would actually participate in if I was just a normal user and you guys announced it. I mean, the idea is good and there are a lot to do for it, buts as I said a few pages back, its just too common and normal. I've seen so many things based on these ideas before (heck, even Britney's album =w=) that its just...not really exciting anymore. We need something different=/
Pixilated said board games. Thats different and inventive too. And many will probably like to relive their board games days where they used to play Candyland and create giant ice creams in the ocean lol Not only that, we can integrate board games with modern games that we see now. That will also appeal to our more hardcore gamers that thinks board games are for sissy's >.<
hell, if we really want to stick with the Gods ideas too, we can even make them the Game Masters of the boards games and the modern games D: I'm sure we can find a game that can fit with one of the many greek gods and goddesses, and even the heroes and demis!
but anyways, this thread is basically a theme planning thread =] so lets try not all to stick around the carnival and gods ideas too much for now, and try to look into other themes. Its not good to just limit ourselves sometimes lol we might hit something even greater and better if we keep throwing in more ideas.
Pixilated- lol recreate disney? D: whoever said to recreate disney? XD just a amusement park not disney...I dont like Disney in truth <_<; corrupts little kids minds...
