30-35 is a fun age, don't you agree? Old is not what I'd call 30s. I'd call 50s old age. I call 30s... settled?

I would've loved to have my Bat Mitzvah in Israel. One of my friends did that, and then had another ceremony when she got home for all her friends.
My Bat Mitzvah was 29 September 2007 - Hol Hamoed Sukkot. It was portion Ki Tissa, the same one my older brother had like nine years ago. We're really close, despite the age gap, so that was nice. Plus, it's the same portion read on other Hol Hamoed days, I believe, so I've been able to read it twice since then. =]
My bat mitzvah was October 21st. about 50 people were there... woop. I made money! ^_^ Not very many Jewish people where I live...

I had a B'Nai Mitzvah with my younger brother, so I had to wait until I was 14 and he was almost 12. This was back in 2002.
a B'nai Mitzvah is when two or more people perform a Bat/Bar Mitzvah together. "B'Nai" meaning "Together"
We each read a portion from Leviticus and because mine was so gross (it talked about how to prepare an animal for sacrifice) my Rabbi prompted me not to read the English translation, so less work for me biggrin
Our party was OK. The DJ seemed more interested in entertaining our parents than us.
Reading all of these makes me remember it all. I went through 1 year of training. But in the last 4 months the parasha got changed 3 times. I had to memorize each one. Not easy.
At my aliyah I got pelted by hard almond candy like in traditional normal Sephardic/moroccan fashion. Good god I thought I was under attack and ducted half way through the reading/chanting. Those things hurt. I main really hurt. I had lumps on my head. It was a few days after my 13th b-day.
My barmitzvah party was later on on labor day weekend in 2002. Man it was fun, lots of people, lots of dancing, loads of Israeli and Mizrachi music, lots of food, and Yugioh. lol.
before that, it was just lots of running around the whole day and constantly practicing my speech. I was so nervous. Baruch HaShem it was all worht it in the end.
