"Wh-what kind of consequences...?" My hands were trembling in my lap, my heart fluttered like a captured bird. What was going on?

Richard cursed his attempt at warning, now she would never come with him. He answered her hnestly though, trying to at least keep his reputation for staying honest with her. "You wouldn't be able to come back... Not very soon anyway, you'd dissapear..."He looked away from her again, like he seemed to do whenever he talked about something negatively. "But most people seem to think that it's worth it... Leaving everything behind... For the caverns..."

I struggled for words for a moment; a strangled little squeak came from my mouth as I did. I started chewing on my bottom lip, mulling over the choices in my mind. This is wrong. What if it's a trap? What if you're just going to be held hostage, or killed, or worse? You shouldn't go. You should call the police right now. You should run. Something. Something. Get away from him!
But if I didn't... I would always wonder... what would have happened?
I swallowed dryly, barely able to comprehend what i was about to say. "...I think I understand."

Richard smiled warily, his cheeks raising because of it. He wondered, if she had guessed, if she really understood where he came from. "Do you know the ledgends? The ones about the mysterious horse riders who come once a year to take girls away so that they're never seen again... The evil ghost riders who drag these young women into the ground, the hidden caverns..." He shut his mouth finally and unhooked his hands from his knee, letting it fall to the ground before he stood up, looking a bit dejected.

I hurried to follow his lead, standing up and snatching his hand in both of my own pleadingly. "You don't seem so evil to me."

Richard felt Jubilation grab his hand and couldn't help but wrap his fingers around her own, he turned to look her in the face, having to tilt his head down the slightest bit to do so. Was what he heard true? Was she trying to tell him that she didn't care about the ledgends, about the truth? "Really? But I would take you away from your home, your family... It's selfish, wrong in so many ways... You wouldn't call that evil?" He kept his gaze on hers, noticing how bright her eyes were, the clor, the shape, how her hair fell into them. It would hurt if he had to leave her here, to try and forget.

I shook my head minutely, temporarily disabled as I fully considered it. "...I... I don't want to leave my family behind..." I said quietly. "But you... You could stay here, with me, right?"

Richard had begun to shake his head before Jubilation finished her question. The very thought of leaving his home, the caverns he'd lived in his entire life, with the crystal gardens and fountains and waterfalls that came from nowhere, leaving the dark for blinding sunlight, he couldn't do it. His pale skin would burn, his sensitive eyes wouldn't see quite as well as they did even now, with his glasses. "I couldn't, my family, we're so close. Everyone, even if they're not related to me by blood, they're all my family. We all depend on one another to do our part... It wouldn't be right..."

I didn't dare ask the question that logically came next. Instead, I dodged it, trying to reach a compromise that I knew would never be. "Is there any way to keep in contact...?"

Richard shook his head politely, letting go of Jubilations hand with a sad smile. "We dont get mail." His horse had come back over, to lean its head on the mans shoulder and snorted like most horses did once in a while. He put a hand to the animals muzzel, stroking it.

The news that this was probably the end, already, hit me harder than I thought possible. The hand he had released suddenly felt very cold. I wrapped my own hand around it and held it close to my chest, forcing myself to look at something other than his sad smile. My gaze settled on the moon, and it reminded me of how late it was and how tired I had become. I yawned, rubbing my eyes as I tried to think of what to say. "...Well, since I'm sure I must be dreaming anyway..." -- I'm not sure if that was a lie or not -- "Why don't we just enjoy the time we've got 'til I wake up...?"

((Don't bother yourself about it. Eternal still hasn't posted either. xD))
Nathaniel's heart thrilled at the feeling of her hand in his; her skin was so soft and warm. He squeezed it subconsciously, not wanting to let go. "Yes. It's my home."

(-Feels so lousy for missing her own RP- Gosh Dernit...)
Richard tried to smile normaly, but his face didn't seem to be able to fit the bill of the particular brand of smile he'd wanted. He didn't like seeing her like this. "Yes, I suppose... When you wake up..." Or if you don't... I wish you wouldn't. He leaned against the tree trunk her tree house sat on top of and looked down, pushing his hands into his pockets to keep them warm. Letting go of her hands had been entirely to hard. "How shall we enjoy it?"

I blushed as muy overactive imagination got going, then hid it with another yawn. "I dunno... What's it like where you're from? In your home?" I feigned nonchalance. "I'm curious.
((It's okay. xD))
