Location:: Entrance Hall (w/ Misha/Ziazan) ---> Dorian? Somewhere getting happily buzzed/his shoes getting spat on

Claudia frowned as a tarot card came off in her hands where the feather was. She searched her memory banks for which one it was. It said ' the Death' on it. Then she found it and almost sneered, quite uncharacteristically for a child, but a motion she was used to and had copied from Dorian himself when he'd hated her when Marianna had died. It was supposed to convey disgust and dissappointment, sometimes sarcasam. This was the purpose she was using it for. Looking up at the psychic Essentic, she frowned and glared up at him.

"Death. How appropriate. The beginning of a new life. As a result of underlying circumstances transformation and change. Major changes. The end of a phase in life which has served its purpose. Abrupt and complete change of circumstances, way of life and patterns of behaviour due to past events and actions. Alterations...." she scowled, ripping the card in half with as much malice as she could muster without having a true personality system. The 'ghosts' in her present system let her feel the slight fear of being obselete to Dorian though. Looking up at Ziazan and Misha, whom was above her, fear flashed in her eyes once or twice before she continued brazenly.

"I assume Papa will trade me in for one of you.....because you're living and I'm not. I do not care about you personally, I don't have the AI emotions to care for anyone outside of Dorian. All I want is an answer on HOW you became living. So that I may replace one of you when the time comes. I will not let some silly rock take my place." she hissed, letting on her true nature of being something less than human, and more than less truly living. She easily removed Misha's hand from her own, no matter how sweet and cute she thought the bunny was, and turned to bow to him. "Thank you for controlling me. Had I been yelled at much more and not given the answers that I need to install my own AI system and augment it with your biological capabilities, I do beleive I may have lost my.....what is it called.....temper?"

~~~~~~~~~~With Doriaaaaaaaa~an~~~~~~~~~~
Dorian blinked as some random young man spat on his shoes. What was wrong with Rum? Was it a bad rum? He had no idea, as it was one of the alcohols' he hadn't sampled yet. Nonetheless....these were his favorite, most treasured pairs of shoes, and this man had said they had no taste. In his slightly buzzed state, Dorian took it as an insult instead of an apollogetic joke, and his eyes narrowed accordingly, setting down his glass of Burbon on the nearby table. Sucker punching the guy in the gut, he decided now was as good a time as ever to a)have a little fun, and b) show everyone he was not someone you could walk all over despite his feminine apperance. After the suckerpunch, Dori wrapped his arm around the man's waist and slammed him to the ground, standing up to place one of his 'tasteless shoes' on the man's spine and put a little pressure on it while he leaned over to talk to him. All the while a jovial smile was plastered on the Doctor's face. His fingers grazed the red tips of the man's slicked back hair and he let out a small giggle. In his hand, pressed against the man's shoulder was one of his needles, though he wasn't just stabbing it in like usual. Nope, this time it was a threat. He only had one sleepy-time injection with him tonight. Didn't wanna waste it.
"Feel lucky that I had these 'tasteless shoes' waterproofed. Or you would be out like a light right now with one of my favorite sleepy-time injections that I always keep on me. But I suppose the cat has played with the mouse enough for now, because I want my burbon back." he smiled, standing back up and stowing the injection back away in his pocket, almost humming with pleasure at causing a tiny ruckus. He was a little rusty with that fighting though. There used to be a time he'd had that all taken care of in less than half the time. He was getting old and slow. Brushing the imaginary dust off his shoulders, and fixing his ruffled sleeves, Dorian picked his foot off the other man's back and calmly took a napkin to wipe off the Rum from the boots.
Nope. They were fine. He almost beamed with pride. Man, he was glad he'd sprung for the waterproofing. After doing these small rituals of detatching himself from the frightening performance he'd just given, he picked up his Burbon and held a delicate hand out for the man to take and get up with, cocking his head with a smile, all that white hair falling to one side.
"I'm Dorian Cromwell. My little girl slash toaster Claudia is around here somewhere. Probably sizing everyone up. May I ask who you are sir?" he purred, those predator-like eyes booring into the pretender but not knowing yet.
"Jesus, this place is amazing! Come on, Shade!" Verdant reached down to pick up his younger friend's hand and pulled him forward. He was in a ballroom, for godness sake; he had to dance! The music was playing, though nobody was dancing just yet, and it was calling out to the nymph. He couldn't help it; birds gotta fly, fish gotta swim, nymphs gotta dance and sing.
Verdant pulled Shade in front of him and beamed down at the young imp. "You do know how to dance, right?" If Shade did, then great! If not, he was gonna learn, durngummit!
Out of the corner of his eye, he could've sworn he saw some strangely-garbed... person(?) get tackled by a bunny boy. Then he was sure he saw Ellandra in a lovely dress, but he wasn't sure if she was alone or if the person next to her had come along with her. Meh. He'd ask later. Right now, it was time to dance!
A surprised look came over Shade's face as Verdant pulled him along after him. He'd never danced in his life, but it appeared as though he was going to learn how - not that he would complain. He didn't really have a reason too. In fact, he didn't mind the idea, despite the fact that he'd never taken interest in the activity before.
The impling shook his head as he looked up at Verdant. "I've...never tried before." He wouldn't mind learning though - it might be fun! Hopefully, he wouldn't step on Verdant's feet or anything. He'd prefer to keep the injuries to a minimum. He'd just have to tune out the others in the ballroom - he'd have to concentrate for this!
[ Location-- Entrance hall. ]
Now this was some party!
Heavily tended floral gardens, a long gravel drive and a host of different staff doing a whole plethora of different jobs to keep this giant place running. The scent of money, a lot of money, hung heavy in the air. Whoever owned this place must be minted! Admittedly high luxury wasn't foreign to Seb, his parents supplied him with pretty much everything he required and his own bachelor pad was something that would make most other twenty year old's stomachs churn with jealousy, but the sheer scale of this party venue really blew him away. He'd been to classy homes when invited to other upper class teen parties... But normally by the time he'd arrived at their stately homes, he was fashionably late and half the place had already been trashed by youths who knew all too well that even if they got absolutely lashed and broke stuff in their drunken clumsiness, Daddy or Mummy could cover the costs. This gathering however seemed to be less of a piss up and more of a classy event, which explained why he was yet to see the usual sight of someone heaving or passed out on the floor.
This train of thought regarding the exclusively posh feel was continued as he observed his surroundings; he was standing in the entrance hall, hands jammed into expensive jean pockets as other guests and staff mingled around him. Heck, there were even butlers and waiters drifting around - silver embellished plates on outstretched arms offering nibbles and tall thin glasses of champagne. With a wry smile he took a glass, sipping the fizzy liquid. Normally he wasn't a connoisseur, preferring to get the drink down his neck as fast as possible to skip straight to the drunken amusement... But tonight he'd take it slow, savour the expensive drink and if he was lucky, find a nice girl and start talking. His shoes, fashionable plimsoll-like numbers, squeaked quietly as he moved across the marble floor. He just needed to get himself settled in with someone, introduce himself and get to know them, then the rest would follow naturally.
The thing was, he wasn't quite sure who to introduce himself to. There wasn't a single familiar face present. How was he supposed to know who was hot on the social ladder and who'd only just scraped their way into this exclusive party? Sighing heavily he adjusted his shirt and loosened his tie and collar to reveal a section of lightly toned chest before delving into task of introductions. Best not to head straight for the pretty ladies; he didn't want to appear like some sort of desperate creep. [ Though he liked to think that his attractive appearance warded off anyone thinking of him as a creep - but desperate was an equally unappealing slur. ]
Selecting an interesting looking man, [ Trystan ] he strode up to him, smiled, then spoke.
"Nice place isn't it?"
Count Kaosu
PostPosted: Mon May 25, 2009 4:34 pm
Location: Entrance Hall (Dorian)
Kaosu asked for it, and Dorian delivered.
The tipsy stranger performed better than expected. A sucker punch... A weapon... even a threat! Surely news of a squabble so early in the evening would pervade the ball in a heartbeat. In order to evoke that effect, Kaosu did not mind a little bit of pain. Most men would be humiliated upon being pinned by a 'girl' in public, but the redhead enjoyed an absolute lack of shame and took it gracefully. After all, his glass eye had not cracked and no real harm had been done. Instead of gasping in shock or outrage, as soon as the pressure on his lungs from Dorian's boot dispersed, he laughed.
Ignoring Dorian's outstretched hand, Kaosu cheerfully rose to his feet on his own. "I hope you know, you're a terrible doctor." At least he assumed the stranger was a doctor. Who else would be authorized to carry around some mysterious potent tranquilizer? He smiled and popped his neck. "I wonder what you're compensating for with that needle of yours..." Manners never had been an art the impostor cared for, and if he could provoke this quirky alcoholic it would save him the trouble of picking a fight himself later.
"At any rate, it's a 'pleasure' to meet you, Dr. Cromwell. The name's..." he fumbled for only a second, digging through his mind for his alias. "...Robert Lynd. That's it." Politely, as though they had not just clashed, he offered his own hand to shake. About halfway through the motion, however, he seemed to change his mind. Instead, he leaned forward and rather abruptly tucked his fingers into Dorian's pocket, retrieving the very injection that had been pressed against his neck only moments earlier.
"Wow, this stuff brings back memories," he hummed absently, smirking ever so slightly. "What is it? A benzodiazepine? Or is old school not your style? I bet you'd use ketamine..." Shrugging, he held out the drug so its owner could retrieve it, "Oh dear, now I'm curious." Kaosu almost snickered, "Why exactly would you want me unconscious, hm?"
Location: Places.. I think maybe in the Entrance Hall.
Faolan smirked, amused at his wife. He almost wished at the moment they were home, but for now a good cuddle-hug from behind would have to do. "I don't care much for shoes either, but your dress is long enough, lass, you could've worn boots." He moved his hands to rest on her shoulders, massaging them. He knew his wife was tensing from the stress and didn't want her having another panic attack, especially here in public.
Zia frowned at the girl, not amused or trusting of her. She wasn't human. It'd felt it when he'd pushed her hand away. Empty. Cold. Thing. Its lip curled into a sneer, watching her walk away. "Make friends all you want with that thing, Misha, but I want no part of it. It's dangerous and you should be careful around it." The idea the thing had wanted to replace made Zia's stomach hurt the way it did when it dwelt too much on the visions it had seen in the rogue Essentic. Not good at all. Instinctively, Zia moved closer to Crux.
Ellandra relaxed a little as Faolan rubbed her shoulders. "I suppose, but there's no use dwelling on that idea..." She looked around cautiously again, sighing a little. "Should we. . . go somewhere else? It seems kind of silly, staying in the entrance when we're allowed in a lot of other places . . ." She trailed off, looking around curiously. "You sent Ziazan off a while ago... do you suppose it's alright?"
Not that she thought the short alter was in any danger here, but she worried over the little one - perhaps more than she should, but she couldn't help it.
Dorian--->Ballroom/Entrance Hall ('Robert Lynard') ; Claudia---> Ballroom/Entrance Hall (Misha)
Dorian shrugged and was actually vaugely amused when the rouge took his tranquilizer. He chuckled as the boy figured he was a doctor, a logical conclusion because of his heavy medication he carried. He just shrugged as the man made fun of him because of his 'needle'. "My wife didn't seem to think I was compensating. Neither do the various secretaries that I love and leave occasionally at the office." he chirpped, mentally wincing as he mentioned his former wife. It was still such a sore spot, and the only reason he even DID take advantage of the pretty secretaries was because he felt so empty when he saw a happy couple together and thought of Marianna.
Nodding as the man asked what kind of trank it was, he was vaugely impressed with his knowledge. Shaking his head as he asked about ketamine, Dorian snatched back the drug. "No, I'm not fond of horse tranquilizers. I like going old school, actually. Waaaaay back to the 1950s. I personally use meprobomate. It's mild, so it only knocks you out for a couple of minutes in the dosage I like to give on a regular basis. And as for answering your question, I usually knock people out when I'm vaugely annoyed......you better hope to GOD I'm not really angry at you, or I'd be injecting air." he smiled, cocking his head. Oh how he despised patients. He liked working in medicine, but he'd given up working at a hospital traditionally because he'd always been tempted to OD someone he didn't like. It was much easier to work on bionic parts for people to use safely. Speaking of, where was Claudia? He looked around and frowned, not seeing his little mechanic angel. Biting his lip, he stowed the drug away again and patted the pocket affectionately, turning to the man before he decided to find his girl.
"By the way....I don't know who you think you're fooling.....but try to remember your alias a LITTLE faster next time, and don't say 'That's it.' Pft. Amateur. It's like you've never crashed a party before," he shrugged, tossing the comment over his shoulder with a casual wave before going back towards Claudia. Drink in hand of course.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Claudia positively freaked. Not only had she been called a 'thing' but she hadn't been given an answer. She NEEDED to know. She HAD to know. Daddy would replace her if she didn't figure out how to live like they did, and then he'd leave and she'd go into storage and she'd never see him again. Her bionic lungs started working overtime and her heartrate sped up, her breathing was shallow and it was obvious there was fear in her eyes. She didn't like being a thing. She was Claudia. Papa's Claudia. SHE was his universe, not some silly little Essentic, right?

But if it could live and feel more like a human could, than she was obselete wasn't she? She was like the lifeless androids whom she'd surpassed eons ago when she'd been made. They didn't even have mimicing systems. They were walking computers. At least she ACTED human. Did this mean Essentics were HER upgrade? The 'ghost emotions' in her system were overloading her basic functions of her body parts, and she was slowly shutting down all processes right there. She needed Dorian to shut her down manually and reboot her, reset her so these 'ghosts' didn't make her upset anymore. Emotions only got in her way around every time she needed to be reset. She just didn't have the AI system or emotional system installed to handle them otherwise.

"I.....am NOT....a THING......I am model 005, designation C.L.A.U.D.I.A., Controled Living Android Understanding Deterimental Incurable Anomalies! Daddy NEEDS me more than he needs one of you silly little things! You stupid copies of humans!" she practically screeched at the winged Essentic, her system finally overloading. Just as Dorian came around from his little scuffle and conversation, Claudia fell lip in Misha's grasp and her eyes went dull, strange strands of green code flitting across the dim dark blue.

"Malfunction code 00864. System overload. Personality mimicry program corrupted......Malfunction code 00864. System overload...." she continued softly, and Dorian jogged over to see the problem. With a sigh, he shook his head and looked to the Essentics that were all over the place apollogetically. Stroking her pretty blonde hair, he leaned her up and pushed the hair at the base of her neck aside to show three perfect circle outlines on her skin. With another sigh, he took a small device out of his tux pants pocket and pulled the jack from the device, inserting it into the middle circle like a regular mp3 player. Pressing a few buttons on the device, Claudia's eyes got hazy, but the coding went away and she fell silent, then her eyes were bright again and she blinked.

Personality reset, she no longer was interested in gaining her own life. Just mimicing it and giving 'Papa' his reports on how well her body functions were working. "Good morning Papa. Did I fall asleep again?" she smiled, petting his white hair and making an expression as if she was saying 'pick me up'. Dorian nodded and treated it as if this was commonplace. Nodding to the group, he smiled sheepishly. He wondered what information she'd have to be retaught this time.

"I'm sorry for her commotion. When the 'ghosts in the system' that come with every higher personality mimicry program overload her usual functions, she acts like she has regular emotions and develops intense fear and a horrible temper. I really need to install an AI system in her capable of sustaining emotional processes. I apollogize if she said something out of turn. She didn't mean it," he covered, clinging tightly to his little bionic girl. He promised himself silently after this new blood project was over he WAS going to make it so she could think and feel, and live, and grow like a regular girl....they WERE experimenting with growing androids right now. He could easily make one to look like Claudia and install her conciousness and memories into it as a starting point. He could use the shell of the 'old' Claudia to experiment body parts on.

Elst’s jaw nearly dropped, held up only by the portion of his mind desiring to retain his composure. “Oh, oh my… A father already, Fao? You’ve been changing so much lately, although I can’t help but think it’s been for the best! Ellandra, I must say, you’ve had quite the effect on him!” At that, however, he began to notice the newly-wed getting nervous, tense even, and decided to give the two a little alone time. He distanced himself a bit, checking out the crowd, seeing Verdant with a be-tailed person of sorts, and what appeared to be a scuffle between two men he’d never seen before. All clear, so far, though the fight worried him a little. Maybe he'd talk with Trystan again some time, just to clear any residual tensions from their last encounter.

He returned to the enamored couple. “Sorry I slipped out there for a bit, wanted to check out the crowd a little. Say, want to see what else the Manor has to offer? This…Entrance Hall is it? Is nice, but I can’t help but think the other rooms are even more interesting…”

Ellandra smiled weakly at Elst as he complimented her, despite her still-nervous state, ad when he came back a momelater with th suggestion to look around, she finally found her voice for someone other than Faolan. "That sounds very nice. . . perhaps there might even be somwhere to sit down; these shoes are torture," she said quietly, moving her skirts a little so she could eye one lovely but annoying little white shoe. After a moment, she remembered something Faolan had told her a few minutes ago. "You were the one who provided those lovely daylilies, weren't you, sir?" She asked, a dreamy smile making its way onto her face at the thought of the day she received the beautiful flowers.

Ziazan had a look of utter contempt for the thing in the man's arms. The young Essentic wouldn't even deign to call it a child. What the glorified toy had said didn't matter to him so much as the thing being in his presence. Looking up at the man with as much of a dark look as he could ever manage (Trystan would probably have been proud), he spoke in a low voice. "Get it away from me."

Faolan shrugged at Elst. "No harm done, hinny." He nodded a bit at Elst's compliment to Ellandra, blushing slightly. "Aye, she keeps me true enough."

Elst returned Ellandra’s somewhat dazed smile. “Oh, the daylilies? Yes, I arranged them and such, but Faolan made the specifications; he was very intent on making them perfect in every way for you. And Aoi here helped get those grey patterns on the petals. I’m so glad you like them, though!” He directed his gaze downwards, however, as he felt a light tug on the base of his jade slacks; Aoi, wanting up. He lifted the Proto gently up onto his shoulder. “And here’s the artist himself, eh? Anyway, yeah, let’s go find you a place to sit down.”

Ellandra gave a little gasp at the sight of Aoi, before a warm smile stole over her face at the sight of the little proto. "Oh, such a lovely, sweet little one," she said, smiling at the little plant and already feeling much at ease. "It's nice to meet you both," she continued, eyes darting from owner to Essentic. "And thank you for adding those lovely grey designs to the daylilies, Aoi - they're quite wonderful!" Sighing a little and shifting her weight from foot to foot - and then onto Faolan because he was better support than her own aching toes - she nodded. "Yes... sitting down sounds good. My feet will thank you."
