Silver was fast. Back in the day, she could outrun Amber and Crimson with a small bit of effort. Now, by the time they had started running, she was gone. In an attempt to follow her, they ran into the woods, only to find an ambush waiting. Decrian soldiers hid behind the trees. It took quite an effort to get away unharmed.
“Lady Cera…” Crimson whispered, watching the barracks from in a tree. “What are you doing outside?”
“Silver…” Amber whispered as well, watching the silver haired being follow Cera in.
“That-”
Crimson was interrupted by Amber jumping out of the tree and running to the barracks. Of course, this was an irrational decision, due to the soldiers that were standing directly below them, that they had… Just lost.
As soon as she touched the ground, four Decrians rushed out behind her. She attempted to run to the barracks, but more moved to cut her off. If not for Crimson hoping out as well and using the force of the fall to deliver an incapacitating kick to two of the soldiers, Amber might have been caught.
“That wasn’t too bright.” Crimson sighed, pulling her weapon out. The two remaining soldiers were turning to face her.
“Better then nothing.” Amber responded, bringing her own two weapons into the soldiers’ necks. The two engaged in a pincer attack until both soldiers fell. Of course, with these four down, the many others were now all emerging from the woods. As the ones near the barracks revealed themselves, the others near the manor did as well.
“No…. not really.”
They began to flee from the massive crowd of soldiers. First, they headed for the barracks, but it was already surrounded. Then, to the manor. Though, as it was now in the process of being raided, there was no chance of being safe there. Looking back, the soldiers that were following them prevented them from returning. Though Amber did notice Emilia escaping with Cera on her shoulder.
Yet again, they were forced into the woods, up a tree. It was a miracle that they could lose the same simple minded soldiers twice. In the exact same way. One would think the people would take two seconds to look up.
“Lady Emilia escaped.” Amber whispered. “With Cera. We should join her.”
“No…” Crimson replied. “I doubt we’d be able to follow her without drawing these idiots along. We wait… Until we can slip away.”
So they watched as the manor was ravaged. The many soldiers coming and going, with swords and torches. Fires came and went, and all was in general chaos. It was only a short while before they saw Silver. She was being followed by two soldiers holding the defeated body of Clairene over their heads. She was entering the manor.
“Silver…” Crimson sighed.
“Crimson,” Amber whispered. “I have things to tend to here. Use the opening I provide to get to Cera.”
“Am-”
Again, before a response could be given, Amber hopped out of the tree, and started sprinting for the manor. This time, due to the chaos, a much smaller amount of soldiers flocked to meet her. She made it into the manor with relative ease, drawing in all the soldiers who had been wandering around outside. It wouldn’t be difficult to get to Cera now. But, alas, she couldn’t.
She merely sat in the tree, held by indecision. Which was the best thing to do, really, as she witnessed a new arrival. A pair of ivory wings ascended from the heavens, followed by three brown pairs. A flock of harpies, coming to this horrid scene. One cera, alongside three vultures. Crimson couldn’t identify the vultures, but the cera was well known.
“He’s the high priest of Serris, and leader of the cera.” She whispered to herself. “Andreas. Why is he here?”
He then walked into the manor, motioning for one of the vultures to follow. The one that did was holding something. Something small, yet extremely heavy as showed by his efforts to hold it. Both hands wrapped around it, and slouching forward, though it couldn’t be larger then an apple.
The other two took to the skies. Crimson didn’t see why. Though she now saw the interior of the manse as the place she needed to be. So a few moments after Andreas entered, Crimson followed.
The halls were in a state of chaos, with soldiers running about. None of them seemed to care, though. The manor had fallen, and they seemed to think no enemies remained. Crimson was able to walk through with no real effort. The first room she came upon was the audience chamber, though. The door was slightly ajar, and she decided to look through it.
Inside was a horrific sight. What seemed like a battlefield, with guards and soldiers thrown about like rag dolls. Silver stood triumphant, holding Amber up by the neck and standing on the lord’s fallen body. A few feet in front of her, Andreas stood laughing at the sight.
“So, in your plan you manage to…” He started, looking around. “Allow both Cedrick and Cera to escape, and kill hundreds of irrelevant people. But, by some odd coincidence, you finish two missions that weren’t assigned to you.”
“I wasn’t about to end my little game so quickly, my master.” She sighed, casting Amber onto the floor in front of her. “Cedrick is now fleeing. And Cera… In two attacks, I’ve taken her from five guards to two. Albeit with the aid of the now dead wench…”
Silver then walked over and kicked the body of the lady of the house.
“Such a worthless woman, wed to such a worthless man. It took both of them together to make anything of worth.” Silver sighed, then kneeled beside the woman. “Their children, both avatars. More trusted by the gods then their own high priests.”
“Yes, yes. That young girl…” Andreas sighed. “That young girl was more trusted by Serris then I. How annoying.”
“Is that why you’ve sent me to capture her?”
“No.” Andreas responded, pulling the blade out of the dead lord’s hand. His wings responded by lighting up to a white of untold purity. “I could care less who Serris chose as an avatar. But we still need at least three avatars.”
“Very well,” Silver said, standing and walking over to Amber again. “Why these two, then?”
“You can never have two many assassins in your employ. And since you turned out so well, I can only assume your two friends have just as much potential.”
“Not these two.” Silver sighed, poking Amber. “They were worthless a years ago, and don’t seem to have improved. Though it is decently fun watching them both make the same mistake.”
“You mean the other one didn’t go to join the avatar?”
“She’s sitting right outside of this room.” Silver remarked, smiling.
Crimson wasn’t about to stand around after Silver said that. As soon as she finished speaking, Crimson turned to run. Trouble was, there happened to be a six foot figure covered from head to toe in black cloth. The gap for it’s eyes was a tiny one, that she could hardly see standing directly in front of it.
“Unimpressive.” it scowled, before punching her in the gut. The force sent her through the door, sprawling into the audience chamber.
“So, Five…” Andreas began. “You manage to complete One’s job of catching the two assassins…. And Three’s job of collecting the shard. But not your own job of capturing the avatars.”
“You expected her to capture them both by herself?” The figure from outside asked, while entering the chamber. “I told you this job was too much for her.”
“Why you-”
“Yes…” Andreas interrupted. “I do believe my priorities may have been out of order. One!”
“Yes.” The large figure responded.
“You’re to find and capture Cedrick, as your current job is done.”
“Right.” the man then exited the room.
“Five!”
“Yes.” Silver responded.
“Throw your friends in the prison, then hunt down Cera.”
Silver then exited the hall for a few seconds, returning with two soldiers, who she commanded to carry Crimson and Amber.
“And tell the vulture to lay the bait, since you’re going to be walking near there anyway.”
Silver waved him off, before exiting the chamber. Shortly after, the guards picked up Amber and restrained Crimson. Amber was lucky to be incapacitated. She wasn’t being forced to walk into her own imprisonment.
“I guess I should know that by now…” Silver spoke as she walked. “The master doesn’t care too much about the hunt. He’s all about results. But what he doesn’t know, is that Cera’s been taken from five guards to one. And that one will crack eventually.”
“You don’t know Emilia, then.” Crimson responded.
“I’ve killed enough elite knights to know she has a limit!” Silver laughed. “That Clairene one did. And Julia fell to a single, lowly opponent. I know Emilia is stronger, but that doesn’t mean she’s unstoppable.”
Crimson remembered seeing Clairene being carried into the manor. And the fact Julia didn’t return…
“Why do you need her?” Crimson asked.
“She’s an avatar. Don’t ask me how or why that matters, as I’ve never heard of avatars being able to do anything without a god by their side. But…” She sighed. “The master requires three. I know you heard that much.”
“But there are at least thirteen. Why Cera?”
“Of the thirteen gods, three have told anyone of their avatars. Empran, Entrice, and Serris.” Silver sighed again. “I’d rather not kidnap two nobles. And I really don’t feel like attempting to outdo an archmage.”
“Then, why?”
“If you’re not of use to them, they don’t bother keeping you alive.” She then stopped and turned to face her childhood friends. “In all truth, you’re going to be subjected to some tests. Succeed, and we can work together again. Fail, and…”
“So, we should take care not to fail?”
“I would much rather you didn’t.” Silver then motioned for the guards to continue. “You’re the only friends I’ve ever really had. I’d prefer it if you didn’t die.”
And their paths separated, Silver walking off one way while Crimson was pushed along to the dungeon. The soldiers didn’t bother searching them before throwing them into a cell, alongside another person.
Clairene was lying there, asleep and unarmed. Her armor was still on, but her shield and sword were lying across from the cell, and out of reach. Out of three people within the cell, Crimson was the only one awake. And she cursed at the fact it wasn’t the one with the secret exit.
Of course, it wasn’t without it’s charms. It had previously caged a beast, that had taken the time to beat it to bloody hell. There were dents and holes aplenty, speckled with blood. Only one day before, Emilia had been caged within it.
Crimson attempted to take advantage of this by attacking the already weakened walls. And after a lot of struggling, she failed to notably change it. They were far from weak walls, and Emilia must have been powerful to dent them so.
“If only we had someone…” Crimson started, before looking at Clairene. “Who was strong…”
She then proceeded to poke the sleeping knight. Then kick. Then whisper to. Then yell at. And as if by a miracle, both Clairene and Amber awoke. Clairene merely sat up, but Amber got to her feet in an instant at the sight of her sister.
“What the hell are you doing here?” She asked.
“Knew you would get caught. So I had to help.” Crimson really didn’t feel like dealing with her, and looked at Clairene. “Could I ask you to break down this wall?”
Clairene merely gave off a low sigh.
“And in trying to help, you managed to get captured yourself. Good going!” Amber then kicked the wall. Before standing there staring at it. “I’ve got an idea.”
“What?”
She kicked the wall again, this time causing a sound. A large sound similar to that of a wall collapsing. An auditory illusion, for no real reason.
“I’ll make it look like there’s a hole in the wall. You blend us into the walls.”
The plan was to make it seem like they had knocked down the wall and escaped. Without actually escaping. It seemed odd, but Crimson went along with it, and used her visual illusions to blend herself, and Clairene into the wall. Amber took care of herself, while making it seem the wall was no longer there.
“What was that!?” A voice came a few moments later. A soldier ran into the prison area to inspect the noise. And to his surprise, he found the cell empty with a hole in the wall. Naturally, he announced it before opening the cell door.
As the man walked in, Crimson took her blade to his throat. The man fell quickly. Amber then looted his body for keys, and ran over to the other cell door and opened it. The cell with the secret entrance.
Crimson followed her promptly. But she wasn’t followed by Clairene, who was still just sitting there. If the other soldiers were to find her alone with a dead soldier…
“Clairene, my dear, we’ve got to get out of here!” Crimson went back and began pulling her along. She moved without much effort, but didn’t do anything else. Her sword and shield remained on the ground.
And the mass of soldiers would run into the prison to find it empty, with the exception of a single dead body, a sword, and a shield. The three had made it outside, emerging from a bush. There were no soldiers looking at it, as it wasn’t a well known exit. Their escape was going to be…
“Excellent.” a voice rang from a nearby tree. “You don’t seem to be as worthless as Five said. Quite amazing that you managed to pass our test so quickly.”
“Who’s there!?” Amber exclaimed, drawing her blade and pointing it at the source of the noise.
“You’re better asleep.” the voice came from the bush this time. A hand extended from it and grasped Amber, forcing her head into the wall. It was more then enough to knock her out.
As Crimson noticed this, she pulled her blade out and stabbed at the bush. The figure who was within abandoned it a mere second before she could strike it.
“Not quite a fighter yet.” the man who had previously been addressed as ‘One’ remarked.
“You’ve not seen me fight!” Crimson again tried to stab the man. He merely batted the blade out of the way before punching her in the gut.
“Now now, Eight. No need to get angry.” the man said, watching her stumble. “Now, pick up Seven and follow me. We’ve got a noble to catch.”
“Who do you think you’re talking to?” Crimson responded, while regaining her posture.
“Who else, eight? You’re the only person here.” He then looked at Amber, then Clairene. “Other then Seven and the knight. But Seven isn’t awake, and the knight doesn’t seem to be taking any of this in.”
“What do you mean ‘seven’ and ‘eight’?”
“You’re part of our guild now.” the figure remarked. “We go by numbers. You two passed the test, so you get numbers as well. She’s Seven, and you’re Eight.”
“Sorry, but I have to pass on that.” Crimson pointed the blade at the man again. “We have no intention of joining you. And we’ve already been assigned names. If you want us to go by anything else, put two seconds of effort into deciding the names!”
“Two seconds of effort?” the man chuckled. “Like it would take to come up with Crimson? Your current names are a joke as well. Being named after your hair color. Hah!”
“A color is better then a number, One.”
“In any case, Eight, those are the names you’re going to go by if you want to live.”
“I told you, we’re not going to.”
“Then I gue-”
He was interrupted by a burst of energy from within the Manor. A burst of dark, perverted energy pure only in it’s impurity. It’s presence was easily felt, and seen. As soon as it came about, the bushes and trees began to die. Or perhaps mutate into some devil plant. Clairene perked up as it came.
“Oh, right. There’s that.” One said, looking at the building. “Andreas’s gift. Kill all witnesses and erase all evidence. The field of dark energy’s going to destroy this place….”
Clairene then lunged to attack him. He easily dodged, but was forced back. She then attacked him again. And again. And continuously on ‘till he fled.
“What a strange being.” he said, fleeing into the trees. After he disappeared, Clairene returned to the state she was sitting in before. Crimson couldn’t decide which of the two she liked more.
And she ended the night by carrying Amber off, while pulling Clairene along. As soon as she could no longer feel the effects of the dark aura surrounding the manor, she set up camp and went to sleep.

Emilia was awoken by the morning sun. And the sight she saw wasn’t nearly what she wanted it to be. The past few days had been within a cell, and she had been hoping for the morning she would wake up outside of it. She had assumed that that morning would be nothing but absolute bliss in comparison.
She had been horribly wrong.
Straight from the freezer and into the frying pan. The day after getting out of a wrongful imprisonment, she was in a deeper hell. Her charge was wanted by a madwoman, she was the only real guard that could guard her, and she had recently hired a questionable assistant.
Who didn’t seem too bad at all. The man was sitting there observing the forest for signs of enemies. He was definitely tired, as his head bobbed from time to time. It seemed as though he had stayed up all night, guarding his new employers. Odd behavior for a mercenary.
“Morning.” She whispered, causing the man to jump in surprise. He was either half asleep or not paying very much attention to the people he was guarding.
“Night…” He responded shortly after, collapsing from exhaustion. He had been waiting for someone else to wake up so that he could fall asleep himself.
“Well then…” Emilia looked at the girl in her lap, and the soft being laying a few meters away. And shortly after moved Cera to use the man as a pillow. “Now where did you… Bring us?”
She scanned the immediate area, finding it unfamiliar. Not surprising, as she didn’t walk through the woods too often. After that, she attempted to find the footprints that would lead back to the road. To no avail, at that. The mercenary had removed them, and left them god knows where in the woods.
“Well, nobody knows where we are…” She sighed, looking at the man. “Including ourselves. Getting lost is quite the double edged sword…”
Julia wasn’t there to agree. Clairene wasn’t there to complain. Emilia now cursed the lack of her fellow knights. Not only did they tend to make her job easier…
“At times…”
But they also had personalities that she enjoyed. Or at least had gotten used to. Now she didn’t know the current status of either of them. Since Clairene hadn’t returned, Emilia assumed her dead. And Julia was supposedly recovering at the Derrice manor.
“What type of commander would allow such things to happen?”
The only upside was the fact that General Marx had failed to keep the women out of harms way. She looked forward to running into him and laughing in triumph. You can keep Emilia away from the fight, but you can’t keep the fight away from Emilia.
But… What would they do next? Heading into town would grant a moment’s respite at best. If they were after Cera, allowing word of her location to get out would have more negative consequences then positive. Perhaps it would be easiest just to go into hiding. Maybe in Toleris…
Emilia’s thoughts were interrupted by a n earth shattering scream. Turning to look, she would find that Cera was looking in terror at a shocked Larose. Emilia had made the mistake of making the first thing Cera saw in the morning male…
“Bandit! Fiend!” Cera yelled, crawling away from what was her pillow. “Marauder! Demon! Emilia! Where are you!?”
That wasn’t good. Emilia hoped there weren’t any enemies that could hear it.
“It’s alright, Cera!” Emilia exclaimed, running to the girl’s side. “He’s your guard.”
“B-but….” Cera stuttered. “But mother doesn’t allow any male guards! The vile beasts are too easily enticed, and what they do to young women are-”
Old lady Melody had been quick to trust her bias to her daughter. Men, with the exception being those of upper class. Of course, the examples given were all grown, so she never grew to fear male children. Half the reason she hated Decrian scholars was the fact they were male.
“If he tries anything suspicious, you know I’m here.”
“But-”
“Relax.” Emilia said, hugging Cera. “I’m here.”
Larose fell asleep again at that moment. The shock wasn’t enough to keep him awake after that night. Only one person noticed, and it wasn’t Cera or Emilia.
“Knew I was close.” A voice came from a tree. “Never expected you to lead me straight to you, but… Nice scream.”
“Who’s there?” Emilia said turning to face the source of the noise.
“Not but the most humble of reinforcements,” the voice came, as a figure jumped down from a tree. Easily identified by it’s silver hair color. “Here to take that girl off your hands. As you know, it’s not safe here.”
“I doubt she’d be any safer in the hands of the enemy.” Emilia responded, pulling her halberd off her back and pointing it at the woman.
“So it seems my intentions have been… Misunderstood.” Silver sighed, placing her hand on her forehead. “Me? The enemy? I only wish to help, you know.”
“Help? By taking so many innocent lives?”
“It was necessary, for the sake of our plan. As we need Empyria’s help if we’re to end this annoying little war.” Silver removed her hand and looked at Emilia. “And the only thing that kept them out of it was the lack of a reason. If that man had accepted my warning, then it wouldn’t have had to happen.”
“Wait…” Emilia paused. “If your goal is war, then why do you need Cera?”
“Added insurance.” Silver said smiling. “If we made everybody think that the young nobles were kidnapped, then someone might go off and try to get them back.”
“That’s wrong…”
“I promise we’ll treat them well. They’ll be in the higher worlds, far away from the conflict.”
“Higher worlds?”
“Yes…” Silver sighed. “None want peace more then the inhabitants of the upper world. It’s becoming quite the bother watching a war go on just below them.”
“Then why don’t they do anything about it?”
“You’re dense, aren’t you? They already are.”
“I can’t approve of their methods.”
“Then you’re going to hate mine.” Silver said, smiling and motioning for something to come forward. Something responded, giving a loud moan from behind a tree.
“What’s that?”
“A distraction. Don’t look behind you!” Silver then pointed at the area behind Emilia.
And Emilia immediately turned to look. What else was emerging then a large shadow with a scythe, not making a single sound. As Emilia moved to block it’s scythe, it merely passed through. Almost as if it wasn’t even there.
“I told you not to…” Silver sighed. “Don’t you know the meaning of distraction?”
As the illusion passed, Emilia attempted to turn around again. Though she was tackled mid revolution by a being she couldn’t see. As she hit the ground, she noticed that Silver was still standing exactly where she had been standing before. Didn’t take too long to elbow the thing off.
“I know it hasn’t even been a day, but I thought I’d reunite the women of the Melody family.” Silver laughed. “That other knight had no trouble fighting off those peasants. I hope you have no trouble sending her back to the grave.”
Emilia then turned to look at the figure that just attacked her. An odd figure, cut up beyond most forms of recognition. It’s features could be that of the lady Melody, but could just as easily be anyone else. The only thing that made her think it was really who it was claimed to be was the jewelry. And that alone made her hesitant to strike it.
“This is sick.”
“I got bored of playing with death.” Silver continued laughing. “So I decided to take this one technique. Now I can play with undeath!”
“Or you can play with the inferno.” Cera scowled, sending a jet of fire into her mutilated mother. “You insult my friends, myself, my knights, and now my mother. I’m going to enjoy killing you.”
“Cer-” Emilia attempted to place her arm in Cera’s path. Cera grabbed a hold of it and cast the spell of paralysis. Emilia instantly fell to the floor, unable to move.
“And I’m not going to get stopped this time.”

Silver stared at the girl with a confused look. The assailed had just made the assailant’s job easier. How peculiar.
“One guard asleep, the other paralyzed.” Silver sighed, turning to walk away. “Very well, Cera. Come along. Andreas is dying to meet you.”
“I’m not going with you.” Cera scowled. “I’m going to kill you.”
“Tall words for such a diminutive being. I’d prefer it if I didn’t have to harm you.”
“You couldn’t if you tried.”
Silver just stood there for a few seconds. Then twisted, drew her blade, covered the distance between herself and Cera, and placed a cut on her cheek. It all looked like a blur to Cera, who couldn’t even fathom responding to it.
“You’re underestimating me.” Silver whispered, after leaning in close to Cera’s ear. “I don’t particularly enjoy being underestimated.”
Cera was left without a retort. A mix of anger, fear, and something else left her body in a very confused state. The being in front of her… She wasn’t sure if she should attack it, or run away.
“If you’re going to kill me, do it quickly. I’d rather we leave soon so I can focus on my other targets.”
Cera wanted to kill the woman. She wanted to burn her, and spread her ashes over the fallen bodies of the dead militia. But that want alone didn’t allow her to move. The contradicting emotions that held her body arrested all movement. What the hell was this silver haired being?
“Now if you refuse to do anything, I’ll expect you to follow me.” Silver sighed, withdrawing her arm. “That, or I’ll knock you out and take you anyway.”
And as if it had been planned, Cera grabbed the woman’s retreating arm, attempting to cast paralysis. Though, unlike with Emilia, Silver didn’t go down. Nothing happened at all. The woman continued moving as if nothing had happened.
“I’ve seen that spell too many times for it to work on me now.” Silver said, forcing her arm our of Cera’s grasp. “Tell me that’s not all.”
Cera then attempted to summon a jet of fire, and send it at the woman. Silver grabbed her hand before she could do so, and sent the jet of fire into a tree. It went up in flames, making a signal to whatever living being was nearby.
“Think before you act!” Silver yelled, slapping Cera off her feet. “If that had hit me, while I was only a small distance away, you would get just as burned.”
“I-”
“Don’t talk, cast!” Silver interrupted. “I’m not giving you this time so you can bore me with a speech. I want to see if you can do as you say you can!”
Cera attempted to send a jet of fire at the woman again. Silver reflected it into a second tree, this time with a spell. Some spell of force…
“Please tell me that isn’t all.” Silver sighed.
Cera got the message that fire didn’t work. Unfortunately, that was her only offensive spell. Fighting against such a person with no effective way to attack wasn’t a good idea. Cera couldn’t help but ask herself why she paralyzed Emilia. That was the worst idea she had made all day.
“Burn!” Cera exclaimed, forcing her hands out as if shooting off a jet of fire again. This time, however, it was a burst of harmless light that quickly overtook the assassin. Using this, she began to run away, into the unknown forest.
After a few moments, she realized she had no idea where she was. The woods were horribly unfamiliar, and Cera quickly lost her way. Knowing that Silver would eventually follow, she ducked behind a nearby tree and stayed silent. Only a few moments later, she could sense the silent Silver coming. As she didn’t make a sound, Cera’s ability to sense auras really came in handy.
“Light, in it’s most basic of applications. Using it to flee is an assassin’s technique, you know.” Silver was talking… Taunting even. “Something I’d expect to see from someone who knew my childhood friends. Though I would have thought you would pick up the ability to rid of your footprints.”
Cera looked at the ground beside her, noting a most definite footprint. Not difficult to imagine that the woman knew exactly where she was. A few seconds after coming to this conclusion, Cera felt the cold of steel against her neck.
“Reminds me of the days I played hide and seek with Crimson and Amber. You ever play it before?”
Cera didn’t respond. Instead, she set off running again, running faster then her body would usually allow, due to a spell of physical enhancement. Silver didn’t have any trouble keeping up.
“And we raced as well… Perhaps not through the woods, but I always did win. Those were some fun times…”
Cera attempted to hit her with a jet of fire while she reminisced. Again, she deflected it into a tree, which went up in flames. It was certainly a horrible situation that she had gotten herself into.
“Of course, they never tried to burn me alive.” Silver mentioned, looking at Cera with an interested look. “You could make a much more interesting friend then the two of them. Perhaps that’s why they stayed by your side…”
Did she really want to help? Perhaps Cera could trust this person…
“I’ll never be your friend!” Cera exclaimed, shooting a second burst of light. Again, she ran behind a tree to hide, even though the peace would be short lived. She needed time to think of what to do when she was lost in the woods, getting chased by a mad woman.
Her best chance lied in magic. Fire wasn’t working, nor was paralysis. She could slow her down with light, but that was limited in it’s usefulness. And pretty much every other spell she knew didn’t have any application that would be useful in this situation.
“Ready to go yet?” Silver asked after sneaking up beside her. Cera immediately set off running again, though this time Silver just walked behind her, making sure to keep her in sight. The child was sure to run out of energy eventually.
And Cera was getting tired. Every step was taxing on her strength. After a long bit of running, she tripped on a root. Laying face down, she cursed her fate. The time she was down allowed Silver to walk over and step on her back.
“I think we’ve had enough fun for today,” she said smiling. “Since One has succeeded, you’ll be able to see my old friends. Once we get to the higher worlds, that is.”
“I’ll never go with you…” Cera scowled in response.
“Guess there’s no chance of you coming peacefully.” Silver sighed. “Well, it’s not really your decision to make, anyway. I was hoping it could be an enjoyable experience for you, but… You’re coming if you like it or-”
She was interrupted by something grasping her arm. A piece of wood growing from the tree that caused Cera to trip. She had recalled the spell she had learned from En. Causing the wood to grow. It was a far quicker process when the wood was still living. The wood wrapped itself around Silvers arm, then continued growing up it. Eventually, it encased her chest, and lifted her off the ground, allowing Cera to escape. Cera quickly stumbled over to the tree and used it to get to her feet.
“Druid magic?” Silver cursed. “That’s not common. Where did you learn it?”
“A girl named En.” Cera responded, forcing the wood to grow up Silver’s neck. “She made a table. I think I’ll make a coffin, just for you.”
“So, you plan to kill me with… This?” Silver sighed. “There’s no dignity in that… Please, any way but this! Cut me, boil me… Stick me in the oven! Don’t let some plant be my end…”
“My militia met their ends at your will. Now you’ll meet yours at mine.”
“Where’s the hono-”
Silver’s sentence was interrupted by the wood growing into her mouth, and sealing it off. She was rendered unable to speak, and forced to breathe through her nose.
“Assassins don’t meet honorable ends.” Cera replied, forcing the wood to grow into Silver’s nostrils and seal them off. “Suffocate, mouse. The blaze of the inferno is too good for you. But you're welcome to die by the smoke.”
In all truth, the only thing stopping Cera from burning the woman was the fact she was bound by wood. Burning the wood would allow her to go free, and that would be far more troublesome then worthwhile. Besides, suffocating would take longer then burning. The feeling of revenge would be more prominent, knowing it was as slow as possible. Cera found she enjoyed watching the being squirm, grasping for air.
But with time, the woman stopped moving. Her eyes closed, and her muscles stopped. She was sure to be alive for a small while longer, but the show was officially over. Figuring the woman was going to die regardless, Cera began to follow her own footprints back to Emilia. How surprised she was going to be, hearing that Cera had killed the woman on her own. Her emotion changed very quickly from fear and anger into excitement.
“So that’s what you’re capable of…” a voice came from behind. No… It was all in Cera’s imagination. Even if she was still awake, her mouth was sealed off. “That would kill a lesser being… Though it’s never a good idea to just leave an enemy for death to claim. You have to make sure they’re dead before walking away.”
It was talking an awful lot for a figment of imagination. So, just to be sure, Cera turned around to see if the woman was… Talking. Such an accursed sight, though, as all the wood above her neck was gone, and the rest was charred black. The smell of smoke was heavy in the air, which was only partially due to the trees Cera had set fire to. Somehow, this woman was burning through her makeshift coffin.
“You look surprised,” Silver laughed. “Did you think yourself to be the only one who knew how to use fire? Sure, you can use more of it then most people, but all in all it’s a basic spell. Anybody with half an ounce of talent can use it.”
Cera was no longer excited. The emotion had passed away, giving room to yet more fear. Who the hell was this person?
“Another basic one is force…” Silver said. As she said it, the wood she was encased in blew apart, sending fragments everywhere. One that was around the size of a pebble, hit Cera on the head. She caught and observed it, almost against her will.
“That’s… Not…”
“Admittedly, I was told you could only use basic magic, physical enhancements, and mind affecting spells. Paralysis and growth?” She sighed. “You should have told me. I don’t like being underestimated, and I don’t like underestimating anyone else.”
Underestimated? It was truly a curse. Nobody thought her capable of doing anything. Father came right out and told her she failed, this assassin wasn’t taking her seriously… Hell, even her guards. When is a guard assigned? When the guarded isn’t capable of defending herself. What’s worse is she just proved everyone right. Can’t even defeat one enemy…
“Tell me now, if you will. Any more tricks up your sleeve? I would like to be aware so that I won’t think you’re finished when you’re not.”
That was her final idea. She didn’t know any other spells, unless she wanted to play with emotions. She could use the spell of anger, making the situation that much worse. Perhaps the love one… No, that had odd effects. Her fear spell took a while to come into effect, and all the others were pretty much useless. Not to mention the fact that, like paralysis, they might not work. She was out of…
“Cedrick!” Cera exclaimed. The gift he had given her, so that she could defend herself. After a few seconds of searching her person, she found it and pulled it out. This would be her salvation.
“A toy?” Silver asked, looking at Cera with a confused look. “That’s the second of those I’ve seen… Sorry about your father and all, but I searched him after finding his corpse. He had one of those.”
“Then you’ve observed this trick already?”
“It’s more then a toy?” she looked from Cera to the device. “Do show.”
All that was needed was something that would fit into it. Cera looked around hopefully, but found nothing on the ground or in the trees. The small bit of confidence that had been granted by finding it was dissipating due to lack of something to fire. She held the device in her open palms, and found the small bit of burnt wood.
“Some crazy entity must be playing with my fate…” she sighed, placing the piece of wood in, and pointing it at Silver. She pushed magical force into the chamber, and let it lose down the tube. The tiny projectile flew out of the device, and shortly after ran into Silver’s forehead. The woman stumbled backwards, grabbed her forehead, and fell.
This time, Cera wanted to be sure Silver was down. So she walked over to confirm the woman’s death. There was blood on her forehead, and the hand that she had covered it with. Cera bent over to check if she was breathing. And in the end, the woman turned out to be alive.
“That was a surprise.” Silver stated, grabbing Cera by the collar and dragging her onto the floor. Within a few quick movements, she had the girl pinned. “That hurt. And I’d rather not have it happen again.”
The sudden pinning shocked Cera, just as the sudden quick movement a while earlier. There was no response to be had from her, other then a horrified look.
“It’s been fun, but I highly doubt you have anything left,” a drop of blood fell onto Cera’s face, getting into the cut that had been inflicted earlier. “And even if you do, I don’t want to see it. If you can draw blood with that, I don’t want to know what the next trick would do.”
Cera attempted to force the woman off of her, to no avail. This caused Silver to chuckle a small bit. Nothing fancy or magical, just old fashioned muscle movement. Victory had been attained. Now to transport her…
“Get off of me!” Cera commanded, still attempting to force her way out.
“Nonsense.” Silver responded. She wasn’t doing this for the sport of it. Though, her blood had met the open wound on Cera’s face… Silver released Cera’s left hand, to swipe some of the blood off her face, and mix it with the scar on her own forehead. “I can’t let you go now. After all, we’ve just become sisters by blood.”

Oh, and the TOC is NOT cheap. scream
It's simple. Simple and elegant. Er, close enough.
It doesn't have it's own post.
Thus I deem it cheap. pirate

Second one was in the O.R and we must see if it's gonna live. But 1&3 I believe to be cured.

My writing?
I don't think it's that good. But most of the people I know think I am.
Leads to alot of blank stares, thinking "I came up with that off the top of my head. How is that good?"

But, isn't it nature for people to hate their own work?
