Cassie watched the older woman move away, and openly smirked. The woman was probably going to run into another stationary object. Bringing her gaze back to Ian, she smiled, her eyes dancing.
"Really?! I'm Cassie, That's Captain Alan. Pleasure's ours." She said, relief swelling in her chest. "There old man! I now have an escort." She taunted, watching as the man tried to hide his displeasure. Going on her toes, she pressed a daughterly kiss on the mans' cheek before grinning. "I'll visit. I know where you live."
Alan knew he lost the battle and sighed. "In that case, I'm locking my door. I'll pray for you boy." He muttered, ignoring Cassie glare and shooed them off. " Go on. Leave me."
Cassie rolled her eyes at his reaction. There was no way she was falling for that one again. Walking to Ian, she gently placed her hand on his upper arm. "Can we leave...? Before he changes his mind and finds another reason for me not to leave." She whispered, leaning on her toes since Ian was at least a head taller.

Yes, she was free! Shizuru had edged away enough before bidding them a quiet good bye. This time, she didn't crash into anything. She almost crashed into Kino, but she didn't.
Another one of those street musicians? Shizuru stared at him. "You should get a real job..." She then left again to head for Aidan's place. If there was anything that Shizuru was disgusted by besides superstition was people being unproductive. Playing music wasn't exactly productive when you were just begging for money. To her, the guy should have gone and learned something more useful. There were better ways to make money than that! She wasn't about to help him.
((Uh, TriggerPerfect, you can have Aidan see Shizuru coming to her shop if you want.))

"It would be hard not be thinking of the festival today m'lord. Although I would think that everyone other than us is enjoying it outside their own thoughts," Azhure said, and then slightly shocked with herself for even attempting to joke with Lord Thomas, looked up quickly to try to gauge his reaction; and hoped she wouldn't see anger in his eyes.
The moment she looked at his eyes, she froze. She felt as though the lord could see through her, see her entire life. Every man she killed, every battle she'd fought, every demon she'd slain was there for the man to see. And yet, his eyes showed nothing at the same time. She only held his gaze for a moment before she had to shift her focus.

"Hm?" Kino met Shizuru's stare with an identical one of his own. After listening to her remark, he'd lightly chuckle nervously to himself, then when she'd leave, he would whisper in a low tone. "Human's sure are like they said they would be." A lgrin etched its way across his face, before rising into a stand. "Things should be starting soon." Kino started his slow advance into the city.

Aidan's nimble fingers moved bottle upon bottle of product as she listed her stock. She didn't need to make a physical annotation of what she was missing due to her advanced sense of memory. Besides, it was easier to keep it in her head than have to rely upon an easily lost, destroyed, or stolen piece of parchment. Her inventory went fairly quickly. One thing the Elf prided herself upon was her efficiency. There was always at least one of every product on her shelves. Sighing a little, Aidan climbed gracefully down the latter, pushing aside the curtain and reemerging into the main body of the shop.
As she waited for customers, the young Apothecary found a black marble mortar and pestle set and began grinding dried leaves in it's tiny well. The mixture was a simple remedy, used as a paste to promote the healing of minor cuts, bruises, and stings. Mothers with rambunctious children often bought the poultice in large amounts, making sure to always have some on hand while tending to their little ones. Aidan smiled a little as she worked, thinking of the tiny human children and their frazzled care givers. As he mind wandered, a tiny bit of depression settled over her. It showed ever so slightly in her facial expression, and would only be visible to those who knew her well, or were of the same race.
Upon reducing the dry poultice to a fine, powdery dust, Aidan weighed the mixture before pouring it into an empty glass bottle, corking and labeling it, and walking forward to place it next to it's fellows on a near-by shelf. This particular formula, was available to everyone, and sold out fast unlike those kept behind the fine curtain. As she turned to walk back to her counter, Aidan looked out her front windows, eyes gliding quickly across the crowd of people outside. She was sure she caught sight of the city's doctor, Shizuru approaching her shop, but the Elf paid no heed to the impending customer, instead moving back to her workstation, and beginning a mixture meant for burns that was often bought by metal workers. This was another formula that seemed to practically fly off the shelves.
Taking a deep breath, Aidan could taste the briny air on her tongue. She smiled to herself, glad of her shop's proximity to the ocean and harbor. If she strained her ears, she could hear the crash of waves upon the docks and other port structures.

Shizuru didn't hear Kino's comment about humans as she walked away.
As she approached the apothecary, Doctor Watanabe could see Aidan's figure moving about the shop. I'm not the only one busy, she thought. Ugh, her head still hurt a little bit. The ice had helped, but the bruise was going to take some time to go away. She probably looked a little strange with a red spot on her forehead. It was just her luck.
Shizuru sighed as she reached the apothecary and waited by the door. "Apothecary!" she called out.

Aidan continued her work as the doctor approached her shop. It was easy to distinguish which footsteps belonged to the younger woman, and which were merely the meanderings of common passersby. Ready to begin business, Aidan slipped into her shop routine, a pleasant expression on her face. When Shizuru announced herself, Aidan looked up, as though the visit was unexpected. "Doctor," She began, placing the pestle down in the mortar's well. "How can I help you?" It was not like her to exchange idle pleasantries and useless small talk. Aidan seemed to care little for anything outside her business to those who were strangers to her distinct nature. With easy, graceful steps, the Elf moved from behind her counter, approaching one of the shelves that held common medicinal products. As she moved, Aidan made little sound, hands clasped before her. The young-looking female seemed almost too immature in appearance to be running such a notorious shop, and this trait confused many people who were new to the district.

"Perhaps." The lord nodded slowly. Thomas had recognized Azhure's attempt to joke, but Azhure's statement couldn't be more wrong. Certainly, people were enjoying the festival, but many had spent much time preparing for the festival. Naturally, they would be thinking about it going well as well as enjoying themselves.
Thomas's eyes remained emotionless. There was no anger in his expression. Ah, he was going to have prolong the conversation in order to delay his arrival. The lord inwardly thought of how he might have responded differently to Azhure's remark. His response probably killed the conversation. And in contrast to Allen, Thomas had no intention of learning any one's name unless something caught his interest....
"Your name and occupation?" the lord asked rather bluntly. The lack of transition between the topics was probably a poor choice on his part.
...but something about Azhure had caught his interest, her lineage. He had his secretive ways. He could tell that she was a halfling.

Shizuru didn't know Aidan was an elf because Aidan's hair always covered her ears. As most humans thought, Aidan did look a little young to be running a shop by herself. But Shizuru definitely thought that an apothecary was better than being a musician begging for money. Apothecaries were useful! And Aidan did good, so Shizuru didn't have any scalding remarks.
"A couple of sleep inducing potions please," Shizuru asked. "...for the festivities." She added.

Haucon Jonas meandered his way through the stables of the High Guard, pausing to scratch at the ear of a sleeping dog. Curious equine faces peered out of the stalls at him, but recognizing him they turned back to their thoughts (mostly the intense philosophical contemplation of oats and their byproducts).
Haucon finished his chores and then moved out of the stable into the main street. The street was fairly crowed in light of the upcoming festivities and he had to fight his way through the throngs of people near the apothecary.

Aidan nodded politely. Maneuvering her way easily through the neat little shop, the Elf made her way back toward the shelves that held anesthetics and other sleep inducers. Her shop was organized in a simple, yet effective manner: the products nearest the front doors consisted of everyday mixtures. As one made their way toward the back of the shop, the availability and severity of the mixtures changed until one reached the curtained room behind the counter, where the most dangerous products were stored. The Doctor had asked for something closer to the back of the shop, though not quite strong enough to be held in the back storage room. The apothecary was more afraid of what could be made with the sleeping drafts than she was of the mixtures themselves. "Will you be needing just the domestic grade, or one of more medicinal purposes?" Aidan asked, her voice smooth and pleasant, as though discussing the weather.

The doctor sighed deeply as she watched Aidan move gracefully about the apothecary. "Both work, but medicinal is better. Today is going to be busier. Same for you?"
Shizuru didn't really know Haucon, so when she saw him in the throngs of people, she didn't wave or say anything. And probably wouldn't unless he crashed into her.

Kino made his preparation to set off. "I can finally have fun." He'd state cheerfully before starting his advance into the city. One hand shoved his earned money into a pouch, then both hands would remain hung on each corresponding side. "Today looks like it'll be an interesting day." With light, gentle smile temporarily directed towards a group of females walking together on the right. Kino's cheek lightly blushing in response to the flattering flirt remarks until they parted in Chronopolis.

Aidan nodded finding the desired product on the shelf. Sighing almost inaudibly, the Elf wondered why she kept such tall shelves when she, the shop keeper, barely reached the middle of the displays. The room, luckily, had a set up similar to that of a library, with a ramp for a ladder running its way around the top of the shelves. The ladder itself was only a few feet away, so Aidan moved toward it, pulling it back with her to the correct shelf. Climbing two-thirds of the way up, the Apothecary found the correct vials before saying, "I expect it will be as busy as any shop on festival days..." Aidan was not used to sharing simple conversation with customers, so her voice immediately became softer and more delicate than before. "How many will you be needing?"
