Humans can't survive a week without water. *shrugs* Lol.
No, um, Raizen still had a six-pack, and despite popular belief, when you starve yourself, at least this is the case with humans, the first thing it eats away is muscle (not fat >,>). So if he had a six-pack after all those years...
Maybe those were his ribs???

So perhaps his muscles had been eaten away at...
But then again...demon bodies might be different. In a harsh environment like demon world where smaller reigns are always changing, whose to say that they wouldn't be built to last long times without sufficient nutrients. *shrugs* Koenma DID say that demons could only come through during the Dark Ages, where Raizen had vowed to never feast on humans hence forth.

Maybe that's what he was living off of- animals, but then he was still wasting away- it was just enough to keep him alive? guessing so much guessing.

I think that might've been what his drinking buddies approaches were if they hadn't evolved to no longer need humans to survive, just because they were still nice and built. : D
I think Raizen just starved himself completely in all truth. Kinda an idiot, if he could've survived without the stuff, but (shrugs) whatever. His choice. lol ; D

IIRC, he could only eat human meat. I can't explain why, of course--as far as I know there is no difference between human meat and that of most animals (as far in as chemicals and composition, anyway.) Maybe it had to do with human souls, too, or something. I think he wouldn't have starved himself if they could have eaten other things--he would have promoted eating other animals if that was the case.
The problem with his statement was that, while it was amazing and great for him to starve himself rather than consume humans, it wasn't practical or realistic to assume other demons would do the same. Don't get me wrong--Raizen was awesome and it was so great of him to do that. But you can't expect demons to give up their lives for humans (following years of stomach-grinding starvation, to boot.) I doubt humans would do the same for demons. Maybe that's why the manga ended the way it did.

Not knowing how the manga ended, I couldn't say, but it does make me wonder about his drinking buddies and what they did. Did it ever specifically say that THEY needed to eat humans too? Or were they just out killing for fun???

Yeah I think it has to do with something about the souls- you can get some of the energy through the blood...something like that I guess..though Goki..remember big oaf green shirt worked with Kurama and Hiei...he said he would consume Yusuke body and soul....but maybe he was just talking- by devouring the body you can't devour the soul, can you? cuz if you can then he didn't need that orb anyway..so nvm... but the blood might have some energy in it.

Okay, anywho. Gouki needed the souls of the humans. I remember him talking to Yusuke about how the Orb of Baaz (sp?) made life easier on him because he could get fresh clean soul without the hassle of baking the body. See, if you kill the body the soul is damaged or killed or something, so he had to be careful, but the orb, he never had to worry about it.
I don't think the blood would have energy, but it'd make an interesting fanon if you wanted to have vampire demons. (shrugs)

I don't think Mukuro's that type of demon, hun.
You see, something that always kinda confused me, was that they're basically making out multiple demon species. Some eat certain things, others don't and can't and ahg!
Like the whole thing when Chuu stole some lower class demon's beer during his fight with Yusuke in the Dark Tourney (forever and a half ago, right? ; D) completely threw me off. I was like, "Wait, that THING can drink THAT THING?" It was weird. o--o;

I don't think so, just because I didn't catch any other mentions of it. I think the reason why Demon World was so against Raizen's rule was because he wanted to let the humans have their peace, which is something many of the prejudiced demons (or some weren't prejudiced I guess...) would not be fond of...

...Maybe you're right.....For some reason I was thinking Yomi and Mukuro ate people's souls....but now that I look at it.....no.....Cuz something more would have been said..Where the heck did I get that impression from..ehem.
But Raizen's monk buddies eat humans. *sigh* I guess some do and some do not.
That sentence was the most obvious statement ever.

Hahaha! Well, you know, some could have them as like, an afternoon snack, and other times--hahah! Joking. ; D
I started to wonder if it had to do with power level and the support the demon's body needed to run, however I decided against it because of how Gouki ate human souls but was only a lower D class demon.
