Leif nearly jumped at hearing his sister's voice before pushing off from the ground in a mad dash towards the house. His tail flew out behind him as he ran past blurs of green and others colors. Finally the teen slowed as he spotted his sister, "Mersi!" Leif laughed and poked his sister's shoulder, "You don't have to yell all the time." A small pout as he crossed his arms, "I was already heading back. What am I a child still?"

Mersi giggled delicately and wrapped an arm around Leif's shoulders, which seemed to broaden every time she looked. "Excuse me for not being able to read your thoughts. Mom said to call you to lunch, so I did." She lightly smacked his stomach and ran ahead. "Do you really want me to answer that?" She called back with a smirk. Her mind was still wrapping around the fact that they were teens already.

"Well, you're not excused." Muttered Leif right before the punch came. Pushing aside the fact that Mersi had completely caught him off guard, Leif exclaimed. "Heeey~" Though he tried to sound angry, a light laugh burst free as the teen chased after his sister. "Come back here, Mersi!" Oh, he would definitely get her back for that one!
From behind a tree came a soft chuckle of amusement. Deep eyes watched as the two teens ran towards their home and the foxtaur's tail twitched with glee. It was so weird to see them as teens instead of children, but it also brought him a warm feeling despite the sorrow of growing up.

"Gotta catch me first!" Mersi squealed with glee as she ran, bursting into the house. Smellls of warm food filled her nose and she grinned. "Smells great mother." She hurried to the pitcher and sink to clean herself up.
Terrie jumped when Mersi burst inside. "Ease up there you! Break the door why don't you?" She said, trying to hold back a laugh. Full of energy those kids were. She grabbed up a clay water pitcher before her son could burst in too and knock it over, clearly hearing him running up. "Did you see your father out there?"

Leif burst inside of the kitchen and allowed the door to slam heavily behind him. "Mersi! You!" He called before casting a warm smile to his mother, "It smells really great by the way, mom! And no, I didn't!" Leif's tail swished before he quickly moved towards his sister with a glare. Feeling quite clean, himself, Leif didn't bother with cleaning up for lunch. "Just wait..." He whispered mischievously before looking around for what his mother had fixed for lunch.
Emris walked around the garden one last time, checking over every plant with a thoughtful gaze as he passed by. Finally the foxtaur felt that everything had survived any teen damage and weather. So with a small grumble of hunger from his stomach, Emris headed back towards the kitchen.

Mersi snickered to herself. "Waiting." She whispered back with a playful glint in her eyes. Then she turned to the cupboard and pulled out the plates and cups to set the table.
Terrie nodded, brushing a stray hair away from her eyes. Spying Emris out the window, she smiled affectionatly and brought over the food. Smoked fish, bread, dried fruits. Water flavored with lemon to drink. "As soon as you're dad's here we'll eat. Leif? Why are you all wet?!"

"Could I say it suddenly rained or that I have no idea about what you mean since I'm perfectly dry?" Joked Leif before looking down through his damp hair to his still soaked tail. The teen smiled at his mother and just shook his head, "It's nothing really, just cleaned up a bit before lunch...in the stream. You know, wading isn't bad right now." That wasn't far from the truth at all, he did after all need to clean up and the stream just happened to be there.
A soft thud of the door's closing was hidden under Leif's words as another entered the kitchen. "Dry off better next time." Came a slightly stern voice from behind Leif, nearly causing the teen to jump in surprise. Chuckling Emris patted his son's shoulder and winked before looking back to Terrie.
Walking over he hugged his mate and looked around the kitchen, "It really smells nice." Emris sniffed lightly into the air, "Fish?" He asked with a happy grin watching as Leif went to help Mersi.

Mersi had seen Emris enter, and thus was able to laugh when Leif was startled by the voice. "Yeah, dry off better unless you're planning to use your tail as a mop." "Hi dad." She said, blowing Emris a kiss with her hand.
Terrie wrapped her arms around Emris' waist, giving his neck a quick peck. "Yep. We'll have to restock soon though. The pantry is getting low." She turned and poured the drinks. "Mersi, sarcasm does not become you. So where did you run off to this morning boys? Us ladies have been in the garden all morning and saw neither hide nor hair of you until now."

Emris blew a light kiss back before releasing Terrie. "It's a secret." He whispered playfully, his breath brushing against her ear. His eyes sought Mersi and he gave a soft apologetic smile.
"My tail prefers to stay out of this." Retorted Leif softly before playfully nudging his sister. "So give me something to do, 'cause I'm about to starve."
Leif's eyes widened before he quickly covered his guilty look with a smirk. "Really me and Da' haven't been doin' much." He spoke quickly and turned his gaze away from his mother to focus on the table and food. "Just walking around and no telling where he went later though."

Mersi smirked at Leif, picking up a dried strawberry. "Fine. Eat this." She said, barely able to restrain herself from just pushing it into his mouth. She giggled at the image, before narrowing her eyes suspiciously at the males. What was the secret that made even Leif look bashful?
Terrie rolled her eyes. "Oh, I'll get it out of you. Come on, lets eat. I'm starving from all that gardening." She sat and spponed out portions among her family. Her eyes glowed as she watched her famioly come together and sit.

"Sure you will." Lied Emris with a smile before sitting down himself. "Thank you for the meal." Murmured Emris before he started to eat. The food tasted delicious and for the first time that morning, Emris realized how hungry he felt.
"Thank you~" Replied Leif before popping the strawberry into his mouth. His tail swished behind him as he pulled his sister after him to the table, "Food!" Leif laughed before he started to quickly eat.

Mersi giggled and sat next to her brother. She wanted to scarf the meal down, but knew her friends would find it apalling. So she looked at Leif and chuckled. "I don't think the food is going to try to escape you." She lightly teased.
Terrie smiled. "See? I'm getting better at meals." Her ears flicked a bit, wondering what Emris was really up to. And was he having Leif tag along? She chewed slowly as she pondered.

"Of course." Emris smiled at Terrie before swallowing another piece of fish. Then his eyes turned thoughtfully to Terrie and Mersi, "So what exactly have you two been planting in the garden today?" He asked quietly while his fingers tore into a piece of bread.
Leif took a brief pause in between pieces of food so he could stick his tongue out at his sister. "It just might." He mumbled swallowing more fish, "And I just don't dare risk it. Food isn't meant to have any chance of escape from me after all." He joked with a faint laugh.

Mersi nodded solemnly. "I see what you mean. It might try to pull a silly stunt. Like this." Her hand shot over to his plate, swiping up a couple peices of fruit and quickly popping it into her mouth, grinning.
Terrie blinked away her thoughts and smirked at Emris over her drinking cup. "It's a secret."

Leif blinked at his sister with surprise. "Oh I did not just see you do that." He muttered with a playful scowl, "No one steals my food!" His hand reached over and grabbed a piece of fruit back from Mersi's own plate and Leif placed it into his mouth. "Hah!"
His tail swished the floor, when had his sister gotten that quick on him? He laughed softly and pondered over Mersi with a long gaze.
Emris shrugged and chuckled, "Then I guess I shall just have to wait til they grow. Surprise can be nice after all." He winked at his mate. His eyes went back to his food, but still a grin was clearly on his face as he ate.
