'Whatever helps, okay then...'
Draqx saw the person charge and knew that while he was useful at range, such close combat was not for him, and all the movement would not be conductive to having clear targets available. So Draqx decided that perhaps a distraction would be best and walked towards the staircase.
The sound of a door crunching into a wall alerted Draqx and he saw troops rush in a side enterance, likely one that the innkeeper used to have stuff delivered to, and he ran for the stairs, labcoat trailing behind him a bit as he reached into the backpack and pulled out a flask. Not even looking to what was inside of it Draqx opened it and poured it behind him as he asended the staircase.
The sudden movement and the bright clean white of the labcoat got the attention of those that broke down the door and with a yell they gave chase. The first up the stairs did not even notice the liquid on the steps, and for the first few stairs it did not effect them that much, those following behind in the press of bodies did not even get the chance to notice there was liquid on the stairs.
The liquid Draqx had poured out was a lye solution, and probably would not have done much by itself to cause those in pursuit of Draqx to slow down, except that the choice of footwear worked against those climbing the stairs. The solution started reacting with the material in the soles of the footwear and started turning it soft, plyable, and slippery. Lye one of the ingredients use in one form of manufacturing soap ment that by the time they were halfway up the stairs, they had lost most of the traction they had and slipped. This caused a pile up an the stairs and the thrashing collisions ment that what was left of the solution on the stairs got mostly sponged up into cloths, with some skin contact, starting chemical burns.
Draqx had not gotten away clean thoug, while pouring out some of the solution some had spilled on the trailing edge of his labcoat, but being short of time and as a labcoat was ment to take spills Draqx just kept going up the stairs re closing the flask and putting it in a pocket of his labcoat keeping in mind that he should not sit down without taking off the labcoat first.

Jade could only watch on as suddenly Aron had bursted out the door. He had used his magic to create a wall of fire and stop the arrows. He blinked slightly as the one guard holding him ran at Aron and the other guard was stunned. Jade didn't really expect any of it but, this was the best chance to escape. He was kinda happy that Aron actually came to save him, he really didn't expect it, so he wasn't going to let his help go to waste.
Pulling his arm away from the guard holding it, he was able to pull it away a lot easier than he thought. Quickly Jade got to his feet and looked toward the solider. "Sorry about this sir." He said as he shoved him from behind as hard as he could. The already stunned guard stumbled and ended up falling into the wall. "Heh, that wasn't as hard as I thought."
With a slight chuckle he turned toward Aron who was fighting the man that hit him from earlier. "Thanks for the help, I was able to get free." He said clearly talking to Aron but, he didn't want to say his name in front of Gerard.
((I would escape more but, I really didn't know where you wanted me to go, so I just "defeated" the guard. So yeah.))

Gerard growled. "You stupid fools, you let him get away!" Gerard would have thrown a fit but blocked an attack from Aron. The two traded blows for a few moments until Aron charged and Gerard met it and both struck each others sword with a mighty blow.
Aron made his move, as they did the same move from earlier, they split off, Aron channeled his remaining magic to his blade and spun it around. He created a wall of flame between him and Gerard and ran away grabbing Jade's shoulder, moving it to his wrist and pulled him along. "Go go go!" Aron barked as he ran as fast as he could, the fire wouldn't last long and he didn't want to face a whole army.
Gerard yelled with rage as he watch his targets escape. "Fools! Imbeciles! How can you fail to catch people such as these!" Gerard's eyes sparked for a moment and then with one swing of his blade a massive gust of wind blew out the fires around him, along with shattering a few windows. "Find them, do what ever it takes, they must not escape!"
As the soldiers went off in all directions possible to search for Aron and Jade, Draqx on the otherhand didn't seem to be the focus. Although he caused trouble, most of the soldiers didn't seem to treat him as a foe. Those that did were promply knocked unconcious and were not able to do anything. When Draqx left the inn, or took a look outside, he'd see but bare streets.

Jade watched on as Aron traded blows with Gerard over the few moments that they were fighting. Aron then created another wall of fire using his magic to give them both the chance to finally get away. Aron didn't have to tell him twice to get moving as Jade was pulled along quickly. Even though Jade was still a little winded from Gerard's punch he was going to run as fast as possible. He didn't worry about where they were going, he was just going to follow Aron's lead. "That was quite the plan, sorry for getting captured, I'll tell you about what happened when we get out of this mess."

Draqx ran to his room and got the rest of his stuff and then noted the size of the stain on his labcoat, there was no time to clean it, but a moment to put some canceling agent to prevent it from eating a hole through the garment and it was time to go. Draqx peeked outside and saw empty streets, Draqx knew the general direction the others were supposed to be going, out of the city, and he thought he knew what way some might try... if he could take the streets and get there first, he could be of some assistance.
Draqx went out the window and made his way to street level. After getting to the street he took a brief moment to listen and look and then set off at a jogging pace, it would do no good to tire oneself out, and going fast would just get any gaurds attention. If things got really bad with the gaurd, Draqx could allways try putting away his labcoat, the mostly somewhat bland and nondescript nature of his cloths under it would mean that if the labcoat was taken off, the main identifying part of his attire would leave him somewhat overlooked... hopefully...
But there was no time for that so Draqx made his way along the main streets, labcoat trailing in the slight breeze of his jog. He might have to take some shortcuts, but by and large, the main streets would a fine job at getting him to his destination, as long as the gaurd did not take an interest in him. Anonimity is sometimes a great assest.

Renee fought her way across the rooftops, carrying Alexis was awkward. There were several times where they almost alerted the foot patrol that was now basically swarming. She glanced over her shoulder in the direction of the inn, she hoped Aron and Jade were okay, Renee bit her lower lip, she felt guilty that she left them behind. She shook her head of the thought and glanced down at Alexis, she had a job to finish. It was hard for her to make it to the gate only because it wasn't a straight shot from the inn rooftop to the gate, the buildings in between were different sizes. So in the end she had to go wide, double back, and Alexis made it a bit slower, though if the girl was awake she wasn't sure how that would work out. Renee frowned, 'She could clutch onto my back instead of me carrying her.' she wrinkled her nose and continued on her way.

"I warned you didn't I? This isn't some fun adventure were doing here, it's damn serious stuff!" Aron shouted as he turned a corner only to stop and turn and run the other way. "Wrong turn!" Aron said having almost run them both into a group of soldiers who quickly chased after them. "Damn, with this kind of mess, gates are closed, we got little choice but to try and jump the walls...." Aron looked behind him for a moment and saw more soldiers piling up behind them. "OK, kid listen carefully, see that stairway near that gate? Were going to have to go up it so we can get onto the wall, from there we will probably have to jump, the landing will be painful and could probably kill us, but then those guys behind us probably will anyways so go with what gives better chance for survival! If you got any magic left, might be the good time to use it! Were quickly running out of space!"
Aron was right, given that Jade knew the gates were closed, going over the wall was their only option, unless Jade could use magic to blow through the door. Aron was out and his fire would have done it nicely but he used it saving Jade, troublesome yes, but then if he hadn't Alexis would have chewed him out and demanded that they go back and save him.

"Yeah, you did warn me but, I knew what I was getting into Aron, anyways, that meanie would have got me anyways because I helped Alexis." Jade knew that either way, he needed to stay involved now because if he didn't, things would be worse for him. Jade managed to stay with Aron, he was running, and even though it hurt, he just kept it up. He couldn't give up now. "Jump the walls? Well, I guess that could work, it's better to take the chance." He said with a weak laugh as the neared the stairway. "Yeah, I see it, and really, there is no way this isn't going to hurt. I have nothing that'll help with the landing, however, if we survive, I'll be sure to heal you first."
Jade could tell it wasn't going to be a pretty landing but, right now there was no other choice, they needed to be risky. They also needed to be lucky but, as long as they survived the wall jump, everything would be alright. "We'll just jump and hope for the best." He said with a slight smirk as this was probably one of the scariest things he had ever done. Though, he tried his best not to show such an emotion.
((Yeah, hopefully they survive. XP Should be amusing the next post.))

Aron nodded. "Smart kid, now then, lets go!" Aron broke away from Jade and began to take out guards who tried to stop him. He let Jade by as he quickly blocked one soldiers blade and sent him stumbling off the side of the wall into the city. Aron made it clear when he saw Gerard coming towards them from below. "s**t... Sorry bout this!" Aron turned, grabbed Jade and then ran to the side of the wall and jumped.
Just as Aron jumped, taking Jade with him Gerard sent forth his magical attack. A massive blade of wind streaked towards them both. As they fell Aron turned himself and took the majority of the hit as they both fell towards the ground. As for the guards who watched they didn't know what to think. When they finally made it outside to grab both dead bodies, they found nothing, not even a trail of blood...
Aron panted a little. He had pushed himself in making sure both he and Jade made it out alive. His clothing was taking on most of the blood that was leaving through the massive gash on his back and he fell to his knees and winced as he fell over. "Damned... kid.. if... I.. wasn't... in.. pain, I'd kill.. you!" Aron struggled to say as blood started to form around him where he lay. "Damn... caught my armor and sliced it clean..." Aron said with a weak cough. They had moved along the wall towards the south gate but Aron had run out of strength. They were close enough to the base they couldn't be seen from the ramparts above them, but it would not be long before they were found again.

Draqx had decided to take off his labcoat and effect through that and other measures such as a thin cap to hide his hai to make a change of appearances. This done he looked around listening, he could hear what sounded like fighting and pulled out of his backpack a few things, one he opened and looked at a clever little device and watched it for a moment to get his bearings on different "landmarks" but more properly be called "event locii".
There was several reasons that the technocracy prefeered to use technology rather then magic, but that did not mean that all from Demose exclusivly used technology, though tech had a large advantage that it was far more undetectable then magic was, that and Demose lived on trade, it was its life blood, without it they would not be thier own country, but likely just another backwater territory of another land. The scale of manufacture needed to sustain the trade levels meant that in many cases that magic could not be used on the scale needed, the subtle interference of the types of magic interacting with each other would limit production to very limited production, most of it having to be done by hand... also machines and tools did many jobs easyer and faster with more consistant results in a more intensified space. But that did not mean that all magic was thrown out the window... for certain applications, such as detecting other magic, magic still worked best... though that does not stop some of the best minds in the technocracy from working on it though.
Draqx closed the device he was using and put everything back into his pack and making sure it was secure calmly walked confidently towards one of the city gates, and knowing that if you act like you belong almost no one will question in thier minds if you actually belong or not, they will assume you are because you seem to be... perceptions were such interesting things, if they seemed to be fine, then likely they were... so Draqx nodded in greeting to some of the passing patrols as he approched the gates, they being to busy patrolling to pass pleasantries smiled weakly in response before ignoing Draqx and getting back to thier jobs, and allowing Draqx to get up to the gate and the checkpoint put there, where Draqx tried to strike up small talk and be pleasant to the gate gaurds.
'Greetings and salutations, I ...'
Draqx was rudely interupted by the gaurd facing him, the gaurd trying to look attentive and alert with all the patrols moving along, but up close one could see the slight slack jaw of the bored, the look of a student in an early morning class that the lecture has allready gone on for some hours and the teacher off on some inane tangent having nothing to do with the subject... the slightly glazed over eyes did not help ether... the gaurd assumed that Draqx could not have just waltzed up to the gates and past all the patrols if Draqx did not belong.
"Yeah yeah, you wanna go out but something happened in the city and blah balh blah, I know I know... your the fifth person this shift that has complained, I will tell you what I told them, no one is getting through unless they got the papers to prove it, I do not make the rules, I just enforce them see."
'Oh, right, one sec... now where did I put them, one moment...'
Draqx closed his mouth and seemed to think for a moment before patting down almost all of his pockets from a moment, the gaurds bored look returning as if the gaurd was ready to turn Draqx back, but then Draqx tried one of the pockets that he had not patted and then stopping and giving it another pat as if to make sure he reached in and presented a small waterproofed packet. The gaurd opned it and looked inside and made a great show of looking at the papers as a patrol passed, though the gaurds attention was more on the patrol the Draqx and so with a sigh the gaurd put the documents back into the packet and handed it back.
"It all seems to be in order near as I can tell, thank you for your stay in our city, hoped you enjoyed it, blah blah blah, and don't let the door hit you on the way out, now clear out."
Draqx nodded to the surly gaurd and walked as he put the packet away, as soon as the doors closed he walked to the sides and took out the device again, but nothing was showing and he gave it a few tapps to see if that would get it started, but to no avail, putting it away again Draqx muttered to himself.
'Now what, looks like they dropped off the M-dar, good for them to avoid detection, but now how am I going to find them now... its not as if I can just send up a flare and they will come running... there has got to be some way of signaling them though, just got to figure it out.' So Draqx just stood there intending to think for a few moments.

Things seemed to happen really quick one after the other as they both made it out alive. Thanks to Aron Jade really didn't have any injuries to speak of. He was saddened that Aron ended up getting injured quite badly. As soon as they were out of the way he spoke. "I'm sorry, Aron, if it wasn't for me none of this would have happened. Just stay still and I'll try my best to heal this wound for you."
Making his way beside Aron he quickly got onto his knees so he could get better access to his injury. Jade carefully placed both his hands nearby the wound which was quite bloody. "You've lost a lot of blood, though, knowing you, you'll be just fine in the end." His hand slowly started to glow white and he used his light energy to slowly start to heal his wound. Hopefully he could heal Aron enough that they would be able to escape. Jade wasn't holding back on his spell, he wanted to make up for him being the cause of the injury.
"I... I was just looking around for anybody who could explain why the gates were closed. I had overheard that they were searching for Alexis, so I tried my best to get back in time but, unfortunately I ran into him. Sure wasn't my lucky day, I can't let him capture any of us. Not now... so, you have to get better. You just have to." His breathing was already getting a little hard as he was starting to feel worn out from using so much energy.

Renee sat under the canopy of a rather large tree, a lone tree that stood outside the gates of Dea. She glanced down at Alexis, her head in Renee's lap, she smiled as she was able to help the girl out, but her mind drifted to Aron and Jade, she looked out at Dea and frowned, it had been awhile, she knew because her butt was asleep. She ran her hands through her hair and grabbed her ears and gave them a gentle tug and then tousled her hair back over them. No one ever suspected her of being a halfling, unless they really knew her, was she ashamed, no. She felt it would be easier to do her job if no one knew, if they ever did find out, well, so be it.
She took a deep breath in and let it out slowly and looked back down at Alexis again, what had she gotten herself into. She frowned at the thought, she wouldn't be seeing her father anytime soon. Renee bit her lower lip at the thought, she would need to get a message to him somehow telling him that she got the job done, but there were other things she would need to take care of before she came home. He'd understand. Reaching down she lightly brushed a strand of hair away from her face. Renee couldn't imagine the hardships this girl must go through daily, to be rejected from all that know you and even the ones that don't. A daily struggle, Renee sighed. Again she looked out to the distance and wondered where Aron and Jade were, she was beginning to worry, but couldn't go anywhere, she didn't want to draw attention to herself. Thankful for the location she would be able to spot anyone who came their way.

"Ya, ya... shut up.... already... anoying... brat" Aron grumbled as he struggled to keep himself from passing out due to his wounds and the loss of blood. His vision was already getting blurred however Jade's healing was helping keep him awake. "If, I didn't think Alexis... would... be upset if... I didn't.. help... I would... left ya!" Same old Aron, grumpy yet it was obvious that he would have done it Alexis or not, it was the right thing to do. "Don't... kill... self.... I... fine!" The wound had already started to close up, he'd have one hell of a scar, but he was out of danger for now. "Get, south gate!" Aron said as he forced himself up and stumbled forward a little. "Come on, don't... stay here... to.. dangerous." Aron was in pain, serious pain, but he couldn't show his weakness, not to anyone. Foolish yes, but that was the typical pride of a man like him, never wanting to show his own faults or weaknesses to anyone.
((Keep up the good work draqx, and everyone ^_^ ))

Jade sighed slightly as he stopped his healing spell as Aron forced himself back up to his feet. "Alright then but, if you collapse again I'm not going to let you get back up. I'll force my healing on you whether you like it or not. Thanks for saving me though, even if it was because of Alexis." He said with a weak smile as he got up and continued to follow after Aron.
"Just let me know if you need anymore healing, I don't think Alexis would like it if you bled to death." Things were sure a lot different this time in Dea. The first time he visited, it wasn't quite as difficult. Finally he found people to travel with and it proved to be a challange. For now though, things had settled down and hopefully Alexis was alright. This wasn't what Jade originally thought would happen but, now that things were fine and he thought about it, this was the right choice to make.

Aron nodded and spat some blood onto the grass and looked away. "What ever..." He started forward and had a rather firm posture but it was clear he was still struggling to keep diginified. "We got to get to the southern gate." While Aron stubbornly advanced he mumbled a little under his breath. "Thanks kid..." Was one of several things he mumbled as he walked. "We came out... the... western gate... if I didn't lose my direction, so we shouldn't be that far off the mark, try to keep a steady pace..." Aron was feeling better thanks to the healing of Jade but he felt the weakness that was under the surface, he wasn't going to be fighting any time soon, he needed more intense healing then what Jade could offer, and a lot of rest.
"Come on, get moving!" Aron said as he waved his hand for Jade to follow him. "Wonder what happened to that guy in the white clothes, what a fool, white is troublesome.... gets stained easily." At this point Aron was trying to destract himself from the pain, the less he focused on the the better off he would be. "Alexis, you better be safe, or I'll kill that b***h!" Aron grumbled.
