Autumns joy

PostPosted: Fri Jan 16, 2009 8:36 pm

The sends brushed cross the Wolfriders mind but it didn't stop her leaving. On her way out the first send to reach her was DewPaws. The worry mixed with the light hearted demand for food was little comfort to Autumns mind. Then came Dancers send. The Wavedancers would not be greeted by her this day no matter how curious she was about them. As she lepta down from the tree she noticed a black dot in the sky. Ah the near High One on his lofty perch in the clouds. Looking down on all of them from his place on high. He was Chief and it best he do the greeting and so her mind reached to his. *My Chief, the Wavedancers are about to arrive in the cave. Dancer is weak and asked for a greeter. Maybe it best to be you?* The send was flat, without feeling and walled off from the slightest thought in her mind. He might notice the great care she took in letting nothing slip into the send that she didn't want there.

The odd tone, did pull Savith's eyes from the glittering water below. How fortunate that the wavedancers were looking for him. He was, after all, hoping to find them. **I shall attend them,** he replies, mind gently curt and proper. He tucked himself up in the air, then dove, reveling in the wind rushing passed his ears while he could. But soon enough the cave drew close and he slowed himself to slip in, brushing the roof of the cave to avoid bonking anyone on the head.

Peyote smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes enough to brush away the anger as Creek touched her shoulder. The lack of the expression in her eyes was evident in that she didn't quite get her face turned all the way over to him. "No, it's okay," she chimed, her voice remaining bright despite that undercurrent. "I've got it. Just tidying up. Why? Do you need something," she asked turning fully to face Creek Runner.

It had been slow going, even if it seemed longer due to the lack of real sight. But guided by the Wavedancer used to the darker depths the trio made better time then not. The first head was Fathom (light blue tinted with white) who moved to let the other two that followed past. Next was the blinking face of Crosscurrent (blue tinted blonde), who hoisted himself up out of the water. A pause before the black hair styled unusually arrived to signal Tidalwave's presence.

By then Crosscurrent was looking around with an assessing green gaze not at odds with his small smile. Body tensed as he sensed the Glider moving about although he refrained from more then a wary glance upwards. Looking for Dancer while part of his attention kept an ear to his tribemates and a side-awareness of the Glider.

----

ooc: this seemed the order of their arrival. I tried not to god-play your Fathom or Tidalwave. Feel free to add in.

Dew smiled as Savith came flying in. She was still amazed at that ability, even though she liked her feet on solid earth or wood. She wanted to get up to go meet the wavedancers. Mainly Fathom. Dew didn't like Dacner's fishy much, because he didn't much like her. But she was fine with that. And she wasn't aware there was a third wavedaner to greet. But, despite her desire to see them, she wasn't sure she could manage her way down the slick tunnel, even with the aid of Auutmn's stairs and railing. Still, the determined cub stood up, with the help of the wall, popping the last of the meat she had grabbed into her mouth. She found she wasn't as dizzy now as she was before, and if she took it slow she could make it to the tunnel and the pool just fine.

((Dew got bored after a total of five minutes))

Creek Runner

PostPosted: Sat Jan 17, 2009 9:25 am

Creek didn't remove his hand from Peyote's shoulder as she turned around. He merely adjusted it and gave her a half-smile. "You aren't okay. And you need a break." He made a point to emphasize the word "you" each time. He may not have been much for socializing, but Creek could read elves like Wolfriders read wolves and animals read the weather. He knew when something was wrong, and pey hadn't done a very good job at hiding it. "Pretending to be okay isn't good." he said, his voice taking on a concerned tone. He met her gaze with grey eyes, focusing only on her that the other sends escaped him.

Storm clouds and desert sand, eyes meet eyes. Peyote's lips form a little 'O' of surprise. The others in the cave are forgotten as an odd little word forms at the forefront of her mind and thoughts, but for the life of her, she hasn't a clue why she should want to call this elf, an oasis in the desert, by that strange little sound, or what it means. Wonder plays on her features as the physical grime and fatigue seem to melt away in Creek Runner's vision. To his eyes, only the truth of her remains: that while her body is dirty and tired, and her mind and heart struggling to suppress the loss of her people and way of life, her soul is true and strong. She knows that her family and friends aren't really gone. Their souls have simply rejoined the Palace of the High Ones, and when her last breath is drawn and expelled, she will join them. That they are happy, with the souls of the High Ones and all the other elves that came before, helps her keep her sorrows in check. Besides, she was born of Recognition, and so she has a purpose. Not that she knows what that really is, so for now, making sure everyone is well fed and well watered will be her mission.

She had inhaled to reply, but now found herself breathlessly held by eyes so strangely familiar. To her, they were the color the edge of a desert sky takes just before the rains come and turn the hot, dry famine into a flood of flower and feast.

Dancer lay on the floor still cursing in her head over her bodies unwillingness to do as she wished. All she could do was wait. Deep blues focused on the entrance to the pool. The cave could fall around her ears and her eyes would not leave the opening. Her mind holding back from beckoning him to come faster.

(As Crosscurrent comes up into the cave he shifted to this part of the thread and so I placed his last post.)

"More firelight opened the world to Crosscurrent's sight as he keep going up the stairs. It wasn't long before they reached the top and he could see his friend blinking in some sleepiness by the fire.

He was quick to abandon the Glider to crouch near Dancer, although he didn't touch her right away.

"I hear you've been reckless with your new magic, Dancer. But it is good to see you only in need for more sleep." "

Seeing him come through the doorway made her smile warmly. She gasped softly with some hidden relief to know all was well for him. "Oh Crosscurrent, I couldn't sleep now if I tried." Her voice soft and gentle as fingers moved slightly in his direction.

Crosscurrent

A chiding shake of the head even as Crosscurrent's smile grew. He maintained his distance easily.

"You stretch yourself too far already for one day. You. Need. To. Sleep." But he knew the stubborn look in her eyes well. He had once had the same gaze as a youngling. It softened his own, although not his resolve.

*/I'll Send to you as you dream/* he bartered in lock-Sending.

Dancer pouted a bit but the smile would not be chased away for long even as her eyes slid shut against her will. Her mind sending to him alone, *I don't want to sleep. I want to hold you. I was so lost these last few days without you. So much has happened and I kept calling to you but couldn't reach you. Now I can reach you and I don't even get to touch you.* The send was a mix of sadness, disappointment and yes she was still joyful he was right there. Then softly came a request of him, *Just don't leave me. Not just yet.*

*/ I would give you gills if it were my gift/* he admitted with a soft smile. Firesmoke making his eyes water a little.

"Sleep. Rest," Crosscurrent murmurred with a content tone. Patiently waiting as her eyes closed again. Staying, but standing up, to face the Glider again with an less-then-pleased expression.

"You told Tidalwave that you needed food." An open-ended statement that demanded more. Shielding the cat-rider casually. His voice low and even to help lull her further since she wasn't reading his body's language.

Savith had arrived from the stairway with Crosscurrent, but as the red-fin 'dancer left his side, the glider's step slowed to barely a crawl. He grimaced once, on his still healing ankle, but made no other complaint. He watched the silent interchange between the two until Crosscurrent stood and faced him.

A short nod was given as Savith replied aloud, "Until the larger land-game returns, we will. The schools of fish I have spotted have been a arm's breath too deep for me to snatch up as of yet. The storm did little to improve our situation. Survival in this harsher landscape will be easier the more of us band together."

Llune
Crew

PostPosted: Sun Jan 18, 2009 10:27 am

Until this time, Llune had been snoozing or sleeping peacefully, blissfully oblivious to the comings and goings of her tribesmates as she dreamed of strangely flavored dishes.

And then she sits straight up in her bedclothes, still partly asleep, and says, "Whazzzit? Hrmmmph." before yawning widely and stretching her arms above her head.

And then she looks around. And there are new elves in the place. And the rain is stopped. And Llune is stretching and yawning like a barbarian or an animal, for shame!

She drops her arms and snaps her mouth shut mid-yawn. "Oh, oh, dreadfully sorry, how rude of me!" she scrambles to say, smoothing down her hair and extracting herself from her blankets, "Welcome welcome welcome," she finishes, straightening out her tattered dress, "to our little home!" Llune smiles brightly to the others, utterly oblivious to anything that's happened before this point, or if she's interrupting any conversations with her abrupt waking.
