"ok." John said simply to her. He smiled when he felt her head against his shoulder,"You like my shoulder?" he asked. John took a few more bites from the box and finished it off. He took a shot and made it into the trash can,"oooo two points. maybe I should join the basketball team too." he jested. John really wasn't the basketball type of person. Just the running.

Lilly grinned. “Well, It’s better than sleeping on a hard chair.” She patted his softly and looked up into his eyes. “I don’t think you should join the basketball team, You’re to short.” She giggled and put her finger to his nose, then took it back quickly. “I on the other had would make a great basketball player.” She was joking, she was even shorter than john, and would never be able to keep her focus in such an intense sport.

The nurse noticed that John really wasn't moving. "Are you staying too, John?" She asked. "If you are, I'll bring up a cot." Movable cots were kept at the hospital especially for parents to visit children. Some of the chairs also converted into "beds". One such chair was in Jake and Liam's room, but only one.
The nurse had also noticed John's comments about Lilly. Secretly, she agreed; Lilly did look thin. She had often seen this happen before with visitors of long-term patients, but she kept her thoughts to herself.
~~~Note: Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital I know has chairs that convert into "beds" for parents to stay the nights with their children. The cots, however, are just my imagination.~~~

{My bro was in the hospital for a while, I had to sleep on a 'chair/bed' And it was the worst 'bed' I have ever felt. I hate it with a passion}
Lilly nodded. "You should stay, I would really appreciate your company." She looked up at him with sad, wanting eyes. "Please?" Even in the dim light of the hospital room, it was clear that she had a reason she wanted him to stay. "I'll share the cot with you." She said trying to sound like she had not preplanned this. She hated the 'chair/bed' it was cold and hard and not a bed.

"ah... yeah. Sure. I guess I am staying." he said looking from Lilly and then to the Nurse,"oh yeah... Lilly. You're shorter than I am. I don't think they'd let you be anything but a guard on the team. Maybe a forward..." he said thinking and laughing a little to himself.

Lilly smiled brightly. "Yes!" She hugged his tightly, resting her head on his chest. "thank you so much!" She laughed and closed her eyes. Sleep sent another wave over her. She gave a content sigh and snuggled closer to him, before actually passing out against him. She had had a long day, and could not help herself.

"Maybe I should bring two cots?" Nurse Lauri asked. She was willing to bend the rules, but she was still an adult.

"No, one's fine, thank you." Lilly said, not wanting the nurse to have to do to much work that she did not have to. "We will be fine." She said and smiled at the woman. She had done so much for her all ready that she did not want to make more work.

"Are you sure?" the nurse asked, not wanting to give in to this one so easily. "Those converting chairs can be a major pain in the butt sometimes, and I know those cots aren't big enough for two."

“I’m sure, “ Lilly said, in a steady, sure voice. “It’s just fine. Really.” She stretched her arms and yawned. She did not want to arguer anymore, she only wanted to sleep. “Oh, And who do I talk to about taking Liam to the prom?” She asked the nurse a blush on her pale cheeks. “Or I do I just need to sneak him out?”

Nurse Lauri thought on that one. She wasn't sure if outings were allowed. "Hmmm...an outing? I'll have to check on that one. I don't see why not...I'll get back to you on that one, okay doll?" She left the room to get the cot.

Lilly nodded and as soon as the nurse was gone, she closed her eyes and lay against John. a sigh escaped her lips and before long she had fallen asleep. He was so soft, and warm. not to mention comforting. John was there for her when she needed him, why not trust him to watch over her in times like this?

Lauri came back with two cots and, without saying anything, set them both up. She had something else, though. She handed Lilly a bowl of soup and a spoon. "You need to eat, doll."

Lilly opened her eyes when something was pushed into her hands. She looked down to see soup. Lilly yawned and shook her head. "I just eat dinner, I'm fine. But thank you for your concern." She tried to hand the woman back the boul. She smiled trying to keep the mood light, not having the nurse angry at her for something she could not control.
