Controlling Change Spell August 23rd, 2009
Color of the day: Maroon Incense of the day: Daffodil
Changes in our lives can be unsettling, and we often wish we had more control over those situations. Here is a simple spell casting that helps do just that. Using a cotton swab dipped in lemon juice, write a brief description of the things that bother you the most on a piece of parchment paper. It could be that you are not seeing all the possibilities in the changes you fear. Now heat an iron and press it to the parchment. You will see the writing come clear. As you do this, say the following:
These are changes I can see, make their nature clear to me!
You will be able to find solutions to the problems caused by change once you see the whole picture.

Healing Breath Spell August 24th, 2009
Color of the day: Orange Incense of the day: Parsley
Walk outside today, or open a window, so you can be in a place where the air is clean and clear. Prepare your sacred space by burning frankincense or myrrh—or a combination of both. Light a white candle, and circle it with gems that correspond with the Sun’s glow. These include: amber, citrine, topaz, and pyrite. Face east and give thanks for the life-giving air. Concentrate on the miracle of breath. Imagine each time you inhale you are breathing in pure, golden, cleansing air, and when you exhale you are forcing impurities from your body. Draw in several deep breaths as you count to four, and fill your lungs to capacity. Hold the breath in for a four-count, and release it. Repeat and relax.

Magical Makeup 9-11-09 Color of the day: Rose Incense of the day: Cypress
The planet Mercury rules the sign Gemini, which is the sign the Moon is in all day. Mercury embodies magic, trade, study, and communication. The following simple spell, which can really be performed any day (gender notwithstanding), is for both communication and psychic sight. Hail Mercury! Get your favorite stick of eyeliner and lipstick (or purchase them if you’re not accustomed to wearing them). Place them on your altar, cast a circle, meditate, or do whatever you do to put yourself in a sacred frame of mind. Enchant the makeup with the elements: put salt on them for earth, wave them in incense for air, stick them quickly in flame for fire, and drop some water on them for water. Close your eyes and envision them surrounded in glowing yellow and white, the ideal colors to represent communication. Say: In this night and in this hour, this makeup now I do empower. This eyeliner I imbue with the power of sight, that I may see reality right. This lipstick I imbue with clear communication, that I may speak with truth and clarification. So mote it be.

Personal Power 9-12-09 Color of the day: Blue Incense of the day: Sandalwood
Call on the strength and energy of the Sun today to increase your own power and energy. If there’s a specific area you’d like to work on, visualize it. Perhaps you seek endurance for athletics or the energy to begin a new project. If you’re headed back to school, this is a good time to energize yourself for the stamina students need. Collect the following: a leaf and twig (any kind found lying on the ground will do), a stone that represents sunlight or energy (such as pyrite, citrine quartz, or amber), and any flower of your choice. Wrap these items in a small drawstring bag or tie them into a bundle of white, yellow, or gold fabric and ribbon. Place the amulet in a sunny area if possible. Recite the following: Leaf and twig, stone and flower, Increase my inner strength and power. Warm my body, soul, and mind, Help my spirit rise and shine.

Car Protection Charms
9-20-09 Color of the day: Yellow Incense of the day: Hyacinth
It is always a positive thing to add extra protection to our vehicles. These are some simple methods of creating protection charms for your car. Obtain a small silver pentacle. Cleanse it with a good smudging, and bless it to the protection of your car. With a fine black ribbon, bind it up close around the mounting post of your rearview mirror so that it’s not dangling in the way but is able to be charged daily by the light of Sun and Moon through the windshield. You may also charge a crystal for the specific purpose of protecting your car. Place the crystal in a secure location in the vehicle where it will not end up sliding all over the car. In the case of either charm, if your car has mechanical issues or a close call with an accident, take the charm out of the car, cleanse it, and recharge it to its original intent.

To Promote Happiness
9-21-09 Color of the day: Lavender Incense of the day: Hyssop
Use this spell to promote a sense of happiness. You’ll need: a quiet space outside, a soft cloth to sit on, a small bowl, and one tablespoon each of lavender and marjoram. As the Sun is setting, go outside with your cloth and find a comfortable sitting position. Next, place the bowl in front of you. Visualize yourself being happy and smiling. Smell the lavender and then place it in the bowl. Repeat this visualization with the marjoram. Combine the herbs together with your fingertips and say this incantation: Oh ancient ones, hear my words, hear my plea. I call upon your divine energy to bring about magic right, Grant me the blessing of happiness tonight. When you are ready, stand up and sprinkle the mixture clockwise around your blanket. Finally, take a few moments to meditate on your desire for more happiness.

Balance
9-22-09 Color of the day: Scarlet Incense of the day: Basil
Today is the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere (Spring Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere), a time when day and night are equal in length. Today, focus on finding balance in your life in whatever areas you need it. Decorate your altar or other area, such as a mantle or shelf, with seasonal decorations and as you do so, concentrate on balancing the items equally on each side. Both sides don’t have to be identical, but they should feel balanced. Perform the following ritual: cut an apple in half across the middle as evenly as possible. Take a bite from each half and put one on each side of the altar with your decorations. Recite the following chant: Balance in the Earth and me Balance to keep harmony. Equal measure, day and night Balance of the dark and light. Take a few more bites from each apple half if you desire (equally), then put them outside for wildlife to enjoy.

Wisdom and Prosperity 10-1-09 Color of the day: Green Incense of the day: Nutmeg
Prosperity is more than monetary wealth—it also means to thrive and blossom, to flourish and to be in a state of growth and expansion. Success can be measured in many ways. In what ways are you prosperous? In what ways would you like to be? Focus on those qualities and visualize them as you light one green candle and one purple candle. Remember that wisdom should be developed in sync with prosperity, for it takes wisdom to recognize true prosperity and to keep it. As the candles burn, meditate on the following: Grant me wisdom, help me know, As I learn, the more I grow. Let life’s lessons grant to me, Wisdom and prosperity.

Mental Clarity Spell10-2-09 Color of the day: Pink Incense of the day: Mint
Sometimes in the midst of a situation, our emotions take over and we cannot make good decisions. To rediscover your mental clarity, gather together cinnamon incense for good luck, clarity, and communication; a bowl of water; a white candle; and a small black candle. Light the cinnamon incense and breathe in its spicy smell. Hold the bowl of water and pour all of your emotions into it. Let your feelings flow. Light the black candle so the light is reflected into the bowl and say, “Banish the bad, the ugly, and the distracting,” three times. Then light the white candle on the opposite side of the bowl and say, “In this light all good remain,” three times. Breathe deeply until all the negativity flows into the black candle. Let it burn completely away. Pour the water out into Mother Earth and bury the remains of the black candle there. Keep the white candle and burn it when you need clear thinking. When the white candle is nearly gone, transfer the good feelings into another candle.

Meditrinalia 10-3-09 Color of the day: Brown Incense of the day: Sage
Meditrina was a Roman goddess of healing. Libations in her name were made by drinking both old and new wines and stating that one was healed. The actual date of her festival, Meditrinalia, hinged on the harvest; it could occur anywhere from early to mid-October. Some scholars believe it was celebrated for the duration of that time, and that the goddess was created after the reason for the libation. A modern twist on this festival is to see how to mix and match the old and new in your life. What needs harvesting? What needs healing? What can be joined together, and what needs to be separated out? What needs to move in a new direction? Pour a libation of your favorite beverage in honor of Meditrina, celebrate your accomplishments, and declare yourself healed.

Silent Sophia 10-5-09 Color of the day: Gray Incense of the day: Clary sage
In Greek tradition, this is the Day of the Holy Spirit. Sophia is the spirit of female wisdom, a hidden aspect of the Goddess. She often disguises herself as a white dove. The Gnostics call her Hagia Sophia, the Great Mother, and they say she was born from silence. The four steps to mastering magic are: to know, to will, to dare, and to keep silent. Sophia rules over the last step. She is the patron goddess of understanding when to keep your mouth shut, and she reminds us that wisdom is best achieved with “ears open, lips closed.” As much as possible, spend this day in silence. Listen instead of speaking. Because Sophia is a hidden goddess, consider placing a shawl or veil over your head while you meditate. At the end of the day, especially, think back over what you have learned.

Broom Magic10-7-09 Color of the day: Brown Incense of the day: Lilac
One way to clear your house of negative influences and “bad luck” is with some good old-fashioned broom magic. Obtain a good corn or straw broom. Give the broom a smudging to clear it of any previous influences. Once it is ready, prepare yourself for a good sweeping session. Start at the front of your house and work toward the back, ritually sweeping all the rooms. Carpet can be difficult, but sweep over it anyway. As you are sweeping, focus on negativity, bad vibes, and unwanted energies being swept away right along with the dust bunnies. Sweep all the debris, physical and ethereal, toward the back door. When it is all collected there, sweep it out the door and into a dust pan, which is then emptied into the trash can to be carried away from your home for good.
