Daniel's features drooped, "Well..." He hadn't really thought about it, and wasn't aware that it was a problem until she said it like that. And now he wasn't sure what to say. "I mean... I hadn't really... I don't know..."

Umicho lowers her head, not sure what to say now. She hadn't meant to upset him. She just wanted...she wished now she had never mentioned it.

While Daniel had picked up much from his father, his ability to read other lions was not one skill he had acquired. He usually didn't mind, enjoying the mystery involved when interacting with others, but this was once when he wished he had been able to tell from the very beginning, and not have to see her this way. And his previous response had put him in a terrible position, leaving him nothing to say that wouldn't make him sound completely useless.
He sat down with a heavy sigh, and his head sank down into his haunches, giving him a strange slumped look with his wings pulled tightly against his back. The silence stretched between them, and he was feeling more and more pressured to break it, but he didn't know how, until...
He sighed again, though this time it sounded a bit whimsical, as opposed to heavy and heavy-hearted, "You know..." He drawled out... What had he been planning to say again? He'd completely forgotten, and now his two words just hung in air, making the previous silence seem as natural and pleasant and a gentle breeze over a field of flowers in comparison to the icy silence of expectation that followed his words.

She waits for him to continue, but when he doesn't after a while, she sighs sadly. "I..i'm sorry...I did not mean to upset you...I just..." She turns and faces him, having a hard time looking him in the eye when he had his head so low. "I just...will you...leave and..." She swallows hard fighting back nerves and a sudden tightness in her throat. "I..don't.....I don't want to have to say good bye to you Daniel..."

Daniel looked up from under his brows at her words, "Well," he said, straightening just a bit as he did. He agreed completely with her - he had no desire to say good bye. "You could come with me... And then we could figure out what to do from there." He let his wings fall back from his body slightly, just so the muscles were a bit relaxed... "I mean, I can't just not rejoin my father without telling him where I've gone, you know? He won't care, but at least he won't be a bit confused as to what's happened to me." He sighed inwardly. This was no expression of feelings like she deserved, but that wasn't something he was very good at... He desperately hoped she didn't think that he didn't want her to come, and that he was offering to be nice. If she did, he didn't know what he'd do!

Her ears perk up for a moment as she listens to him. Does he maybe..."Are you saying...I could come with you?" She looks at him, a smile starting to spread across her mawl. "If..if I could...I'd love to..."

Daniel smiled, "If I didn't mean it, I wouldn't have said it!" he said, his smile spreading into a goofy grin.

Without thinking much she runs over to him, tackling him, and licks his cheek. "Thank you Daniel!" She looks at him, her eyes bright with excitment. When she realises she tackled him she gets up blushing. "Sorry..."

Daniel rolled up to his feet, then tackled her, "But I'm not!" he said, licking her cheek and then sticking his tongue at her, keeping her pinned to the ground.

Umicho yelps when the big lion tackles her, blushing when he licks her cheek and holds her down. She looks up at him speechless, though not exactly complaining. For a moment she just lays there, then she licks his cheek and smiles.

Daniel stepped off of her, yawning widely. All the exercise from before had sapped all his energy, and now her was starting to feel it.

Umicho sits up and stretches, starting to feel rather tired as well. She looks around. "Want to find a good place to sleep? I'm feeling rather tired now..."

Daniel nodded, flexing his wings a bit, "They're still not quite dry..." he muttered absently, then focused on Umicho again, "But yes, I'd like to... All that running made me tired."

Umicho smiles, watching Daniel. She kept getting a warm feeling in her chest around him. A warm comfort or something. "I saw a cave over there. Let's go." She stands and leads the way, smiling brightly to herself. Her gait showing how happy she felt.

((Hm... Umicho still needs to grow up, but that can't really happen overnight? How do you wanna work that in with their little storyline?))
Daniel followed after, a grin plastered to his face. As hard as he tried, he couldn't peel it off... But he didn't mind if it stuck around.
