My fave song I've played would have to be "Concerto Grosso" by Elliot Bel Borgo (I'm in orchestra).

Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song by Samuel R. Hazo. all time favorite. it's not that hard to play but it's so pretty and the French Horn part is AMAZING. I play French Horn. whee haha. i LOVE it.
a close second would be Abram's Pursuit. the French Horns get the little fast bird-like rips and it's fun to play. and plus i just love listening to it. biggrin

it's a stalemate between the Light Eternal (james swearingen) and Into the Raging River. both have amazing flute solos, and sound awesome. played Raging River when i was freshman. still love it. playing the Light eternal this year as a junior. love it almost more. if you feel so inclined, please look them, because they are the most amazing songs i've ever played in high school band. not exagerrating.

Von Grrhart's 613th Regimental March Wood County Celebration Country Wildflowers
All three had awesome Clarinet solos. I LOVED them! All three seemed fairly easy for me to do so I got ahead more with them.

Vesuvius. Frank Ticheli. Favorite piece I have ever played in my entire life. I think after that it might be Holst's first suite in Eb, but only the second movement. Everything else is really at a level of "second-favorite."
