Iwona stretched her head forward and looked at the distant water. "I see it!" she exclaimed, cheering lightly. She picked up her pace some so that they would be able to swim a while before bed.

Isaac hurried to keep up with Iwona's pace, glad that the pond was in view. After a couple of minutes they had finally arrived, "We're here," replied Isaac, out of habit, smiling a bit.

Iwona nodded as she looked out at the water. "Yep! We're here!" she cheerfully agreed as she sat down and stared at it. She waited for a moment to see if he would go into the water before growing bored and shootign into it to swim.

Isaac jumped into the water soon after Iwona did, noting that the water had begun to grow cooler. Pretty soon they wouldn't be able to swim like this. He paddled around the surface, looking down to see the wildlife below.

Iwona smiled as she popped out from under the water. "It feels good, doesn't it?" she asked as she swam closer to Isaac. When he went under, she copied and looked at the fish below them eagerly.

Isaac nodded, "Yeah, it feels really nice." Luckily he was paying attention, otherwise Iwona coming up all of a sudden would have scared the living daylights out of him. He frowned as he looked at the fish. "I wonder if fish are warm-blooded or cold-blooded."

Iwona shrugged before staring at them some more, and then diving under towards them. They scattered and she went swimming below, trying to catch one. Her paw just glazed off of the scales before she felt a sickening feeling and had to swim up for air. "Cold-blooded," she huffed out.

"Cold-blooded? Neat," he replied. Pondering a bit he asked, "I wonder how they survive the cold winter temperatures. They hibernate, right?" He couldn't imagine fish living in a pond being able to migrate like those in a river or even a lake.

Iwonna shrugged. " I dunno... Maybe they get out and flop on the ground until they get to the river?" she suggested.

Isaac was greeted with a mental image of a line of dead fish leading from the pond to the river from Iwona's statement. He frowned at it, and wondered what to say. At last, he came up with something, "If they do then they must be pretty good at it, otherwise we'd be seeing a whole lot of dead fish."

She pouted before saying, "Why would teh fish be dead? They could just flop until they got to the river and then they'd get in the river."

"What if they suffacated before they got to the river?" Isaac asked. He wasn't sure how long fish could hold their breath. He noted that she looked cute when she pouted, but pushed it out of his mind before it could really register.

"They wouldn't suffacate before they got there! Fish can hold their breath for really long time! How else could they swim under water so long?" Iwona remarked back, her cheeks puffing out slightly.

Isaac remarked, "Fish can breath under water. They don't hold their breath. Yet the kind of lungs they have, gills, doesn't allow them to get oxygen from the atmosphere like we do. They need to swim through water to get oxygen. Some animals can hold their breath for a long time though, like turtles." He wondered how long the air-breathing animals of the sea could hold thier breath. Probably for hours.

Iwona's head lightly moved up and down as she listened, it appearign as though she was taking everything in. "So... They don't hold their breath?"
