"It's nothing..." He said a bit distantly, his head seeming to be somewhere else. After a moment, he must of realized his behavior for he smiled and stood. "Well, shall we go? I think it's about time we caught up with the others." he smiled.

He still looked so sad...
Lorey stood wordlessly, nodded, and reached out for his hand. She wanted desperately to make him happy, but had little clue on how to do that. As far as she knew, she had nothing to offer. No money for dinners or gifts. Nothing.

Lorey let richard lead, since she had little idea where the others were.

----

"I always liked this place..."

Lisa sat herself down at a nice table where the light and fresh air could catch her. It was a good change from being inside most of the day, but what was even more of a change was having a debonair young man to take her places. It had to be a trick, she said to herself as her eyes glanced over the menu. It all had to be a trick.

"Okay, so... we've gotten off to a bad start." Lisa flapped down the menu upon the tabletop, making a little puff of air go sailing across to him. It moved the strands of hair about his face, something she tried not to notice.
Usually she wouldn't have been trying so hard to make things right between herself and a stranger, but regardless, she jutted out her hand in a determined fashion.
"My name's Lisa, I'm an ill-tempered orphan, and I'm pretty sure I'd understand if you never wanted to come back to buy flowers."

Aiden grinned at her adorably determined look and wrapped his hand around hers.
" It's very nice to meet you, Lisa. I'm Aiden, and I think I'll buy a bouquet next time." He smiled and gallantly pecked the back of her hand before releasing it and delving into the menu with gusto.

For the second time that day, he made her blush.
"Al...right then," she murmured as she retracted her hand. It tingled where he had kissed it. She never got that feeling from anything, and now all of a sudden Aiden had shown up...
"So," she said suddenly. "What do you like from here? I think I need a recommendation or something."

Aiden smiled and folded down the menu.
" Everything here is good, and what with the weather being late fall, some coffee and something warm to eat sounds nice." He tapped his finger a couple times on the menu.
" I'd say buy whatever you like the best or sounds the nicest. I'm good for it."

"Alright then..."
Lisa was certainly out of sorts, and for more than one reason. A woman named Lorey had started working at the shop lately, and she resented her. It was a strange resentment born of jealousy, because not only was Lorey pretty, but she was kind. They'd had some conversation about where they had come from, where she learned Lorey used to be a cleaning girl from the slums, and how after she had met the love of her life, everything got better.

Lisa didn't want to believe that love had saved Lorey. It had been luck, and nothing but.
Still, what was even worse than her luck and love was that her beauty and kindness was all genuine. The woman seemed blind to what she was, and just kept on living, enchanting customers with her kind eyes and quiet ways. She had strength, of course. The kind Lisa had: emotional, spiritual. They both got along in some way only because of their respect for one another, even if Lisa was much younger.

Still. How annoying, to be suddenly shoved in the near background because of what she thought she lacked embodied in a new employee.

"I think I'll just have a mocha cappucino with a cherry danish," she said, pulling herself away from her terrible mood. Of course Aiden had to sweep her away when she was out of sorts.

-------------------

Jessica Darling made her way into the crowded cafe, followed by a gaggle of airheaded followers, reaking of expensive perfumes and money.

Jes of course in the lead, dressed in a tight, shimmering mini skirt, and a rahter revealing top that seemed sizes too small in all the right places. She was busy gazing at her cellular device in a bored manner, smacking gum as she made her way to the front counter, a few ofthe girls dispersing eiher to wait for her or to prepare their own to go orders.

"Uh-...Excuse me?" She snapped after a few minutes of waiting, barely even looking up from her device. "I'm kinda in a hurry?" She gave a sharp glare upward, annoyed at the slow service, even though she saw for herself it was due to what seemed like an understaffedand busy work day for the cafe employees.

To say that Alex was appalled wouldn't be entirely true.

He had been used to being bossed around by customers all through the four years he had worked at the cafe. He had gotten used to how they all believed their schedules to be more important than his, and Alex had grown quite used to how he couldn't ever make everyone happy.
But with this new girl, something was ruffled again just like his first week on the job.

For one, she was rich, and the rich girls were all cookie-cutter-cutouts of each other. Spoiled to the point where their lives were far more glamorous than anyone else's, he knew she thought of him as something akin to her slave.
Second came her top. Lovely though her breasts were, he thought they should be kept inside her clothing instead of so... out there.
Still, he could consider the view to be his tip.

Alex walked over to the showy young woman and, without smile or any notion that he would accommodate her self-righteous attitude, he asked one simple question.
"What would you like today?"

Jes sighed rather loudly, finally putting her phone away as she looked up at the menus above. "I'll have a single shot soy latte, extra hot, no foam-....aaand...." She furrowed her brow and bit her lip, taking a few moments to figure out what else despite the growing line of impatient customers behind her. "Ah I was going to get a danish but I dont need the carbs so....Yea thats it. And I need the latte to go." She added, raising her eyebrow for emphasis as she glanced down at her nails.

Yes, for the love of God, please go.

Alex wordlessly went to make her soy latte. As he mixed and heated and prepared, he could only think of every snarky comment to shock her with.
Don't need the carbs? he wanted to ask in an astonished voice. Why I'd have to agree. Any more skin under that shirt and it'll pop clean off. Soy latte? Afraid the milk will upset your delicate little digestive system? Bloating wouldn't help you much either, smart move...

Though as he popped the travel top on the cup, he had to take back all those inner statements. The sugar could maybe make her sweet in some way, but again he switched to his bitter insults. No, no amount of sugar could change those girls.

"Here you are. That'll be two point five credits." He walked over to the register and awaited her payment, stealing one short glance at her exposed skin. Yes, the biggest tip he had gotten all day.

She sighed again and began digging through her over sized flashy bag, pulling out her wallet. Though just as she slid her card out, it slipped from her fingers and onto the floor. She mumbled indignantly, hating how clumsy she was at times, ecspecially in a hurry, though didn't realize what a lovely show she was giving this young man, as well as anyone behind her.

The entertainment all thanks to gravity and most likely her parents money for certain surgery.
Her bending over also revealed partially what looked like a tattoo, peaking out from the back of her neck. Though everyone's view seemed transfixed on her lower regions or chest, so it may have gone unnoticed...

"Ah here you are-" She fixed her hair as she handed him the retrieved card, though realized suddenly what she had just done with slight harassment though wouldn't let him know that. "And I'd appreciate it...if you kept your eyes up here..." She pointed to her deep blue eyes which were sharp and angry, yet held a strange flash of vulnerability and embarrassment behind them.

His purple eyes met hers, though where hers held that hint of embarrassment, his held annoyance.
"And I'd appreciate if you--" he began, but immediately catching himself before anything heinous could be said, Alex smiled.
He handed her some napkins and a protective ring of cardboard to place around her hot drink.
""...had a nice day."

There. Catastrophe avoided, and h could keep his job for another day. Not that it was really worth keeping, as he was rarely given raises or room to adjust his hours, but he did need the money desperately.

Jes looked him up and down, suddenly the anger taking full force again. She snatched the holder away and turned on her heel, clicking out of the cafe in her extremely high and expensive looking high heels.

Really though, she thought to herself, what is with the food industry now days? No respect for the customer at all...

((I'm really busy studying for a test right now >.< ))

Alex watched her saunter off. There was customer satisfaction, and then there was his, and it was practically bubbling as she walked away.
The rest of the day would go off without a hitch or another soy latte.

Closing time came sooner than he thought, and as he mopped the floors, he was thankful for it. Every now and then his blue ponytail would fall over his shoulder as he bent over with the mop. The cafe was quiet, with only a few customers reading silently outside on the patio.
Veratia could be peaceful, he thought. Times like these reminded him of it.
