apparently, all that was going to happen from his spell was a few blades of grass sprouting and dieing...

damn it! now i have to move...

((For some reason it's not showing the rolls you made, but I'll go with it... c.c And I think Flicker needs an Athletics roll to work....))

Urzula stomps her foot into the ground and grinds the grass into shreds with the toe of her boot. The little elf was outside of the reach of the shadowsnakes, but that didn't mean that their effectiveness was lost. Urzula cycles the mana needed to keep them around and lets loose a terrifying war cry. With a lurch she lunges forward into an all out charge, with her axe high in the air, her massive body kicking up as much dust as several men. As she rushed forward, the two streams of shadow spring forward to continue their attempts to grapple the slippery opponent.

((The first two rolls will be the shadows, the final roll will be the axe since the shadows would reach out before Urzula would get there.))

((yeah, and one was a crit fail...i think i'll wait for Mercurius to post the results of the critical fail before i respond. as to the Flicker, it costs 1 mana, and doesn't need a roll, as far as i can tell...))

((Flicker does need a Will+Athletics feat to work, unfortunately. There are very few Stunts that don't require a roll of some sort - if they don't need a roll, it will say so in the Stunt's effect or description.

And a 1 isn't a critical failure - it just denotes a roll that cannot succeed, even with a dare roll...conversely, 20 can never fail. So you should never roll dare on a 1 and always roll dare on 20. The only way to critically fail is to attempt a dare roll on a feat that has failed and then fail the dare roll - that bumps you down from a normal failure to a critical failure. On the other side of the coin, a successful dare can bump you up from a failure to a success or from a normal success to a critical success.))

Terran watches as the shadow snakes tangle with each other in their eagerness to get to him, which causes Uzula to have to watch her footing more than where her axe is going....

well, that was lucky...now how am i going to get through her armor? buggery!

this isn't going to work... i CAN'T get through her armor...maybe i should forfeit...i could always run for it through the ground....lets save that for a last resort, shall we?

as he is thinking, Terran sidesteps to get a clear shot, and casts Airblade, causing a smallish distortion to zip at Urzula

Urzula's luck didn't seem to be helping her out much. The fact that she had failed to succeed with all of her attacks was a little annoying. With a grunt she cycles the mana again to keep it flowing into the shadows and then charges forward at Aidan ignoring the violent pocket of air formed by the elf. Both of the shadow tendrils once again reach out in an attempt to grapple frustrating geomancer.

((Once again, purposely not making a defense))

the ar distortion smashes into Urzula...

most of the force disapates into her armor, but she still gets a small cut on her neck (2 damage=12 + 3 -13).

may not be much, but it may distract her.

Terran thinks furiously, then decides to chance it again, builds his power moment, and uses Flicker

unfourtunately, he didn't notice a small stone, and trips on it at high speed, sending him skidding on his back for a couple of feet....

((The two tendrils should be able to then grapple (I'm not sure if there's any damage associated with that) and the ax's damage will be 2+10+6= 18-4=14))

The elf had tried to evade once again, but couldn't quite keep out of the way of the charging Bosek. After catching the little elf on the business end of the ax, Urzula smirked and grabbed him as the shadow tendrils faded away. "Slip out of this one," she said as she staked her ax into the ground and then raised his tinf frame into the air with both hands.

((What're the rules on a grapple?))

((In order to get someone in a grappling hold, you need to make an Agility+Unarmed attack to actually grab them. If they don't evade, then they are held and must make a number of successful Agility+Unarmed feats equal to your Strength score to escape. They may make a feat each round on their turn (and can take no other action that requires them to move). But, you're also unable to do anything to them since you're holding them...unless you just want to inflict crushing damage by squeezing the life out of him...in which case, you would deal just your Strength as damage each round on your turn.))

((Were you grabbing him with the Shadowsnake spell or with your own hands? If you get him with the Shadowsnakes, you're still fully mobile because those tendrils are holding him. I'm just a little confused as to what happened there.))

((The grapple started with the shadowsnakes, but then Urzula herself began to grapple to keep from losing the grapple when the shadowsnakes disappeared. So step 1, shadows grapple, urzula hits with axe. Step two, Urzula puts axe down, grabs the already grappled elf and lets go of the shadowsnakes))
