Terrie tapped a finger on her lips thoughtfully. "Things I'd want for the house... Shelves." She said the first thing that popped into her mind other than walls and ceiling. "Big, wide, sturdy ones." She nodded to herself, then carefully opened the book so as not to lose any of the loose papers. "How many houses are in here?" She asked as she flipped through, seeing houses of seemingly all shapes and sizes.

Nodding at Terrie, Emris replied with a, "See?" Peering over Terrie's shoulder the foxtaur watched as she flipped through the pages. "Umm....not too many..." He started with a faint embarrassment, "I lost count when I took it and started drawing some of them myself. My parents loved planning houses...and sometimes I used to do the same. Since I...used to imagine..." He trailed off and blinked sheepishly, "Anyways, I have no idea really of how many."

Terrie paused on one page, looking closely at it. The house on this particular page was cozy looking, and a little larger than the word "cozy" would normally indicate. It had two stories, the second being half the size of the first. She assumed that meant the bedrooms on top and all the main rooms below. She saw a note scribbled off to the side about a small cellar for storage. She smiled lightly and looked at Emris. "This one." She said simply, holding up the page is resided on. But of course, her curiosity got into her. "What did you imagine?" She asked, her smile growing slightly with humor. What would a child Emris have imagined? "Trying to think of your dream home? Something fit for a king."

Looking closely at the sketch, Emris nodded. "Okay, that one looks possible." He asked hoping she would leave the what he had imagined as a younger foxtaur alone. Too bad he was always unlucky in such things. "Umm...what did I imagine?" Averting his sheepish gaze from Terrie, Emris hurried his next words. "I used to think of my own future how I'd love my own grand house ....with my special someone there with me....when I found her that is." Coughing into his hand, he took a quick peek to Terrie and grinned sheepishly. "Xennek used to say...that I used to be a bit of a hopeless romantic. I wonder if I still am?"
Taking a couple of more steps he approached the closed door that they had passed earlier. "Anyways...back to house plans?" Before Terrie could comment, Emris spoke quickly. "It's going to get colder soon and I thought that if you haven't gotten a place to sleep yet....while your house was being built if you wouldn't mind staying here? I mean I have an empty room after all...besides that one Xennek uses." Crossing his arms he stood there with nervousness as he waited.

Terrie smiled at the house on the paper again, then started frowning. She turned to Emris with searching eyes. "Is... is that wrong? Wanting a home and special someone?" She hoped not... but if it wasn't, why would he seem so ashamed of it? She continued watching him as he went to one of the closed doors and she blushed, rubbing the paper bashfully between her fingers. Why should his offer make her feel so... fuzzy? "That's very kind of you. I really don't have anywhere else..." She relaxed the tight grip she had on the book and nodded. "Will Xennek be here too over the winter?"

"No...it's not wrong. I think it's great..." Whispered Emris softly before focusing back on the question about Xennek. "Xennek?" He shook his head, "He shouldn't be here much in the winter, except for maybe a couple of times. Unless he gets Yuna really mad or gets stuck near this area during a snow storm. And sometimes Yuna will be the one to come here just to visit or to get some time to herself." He chuckled softly, "But it's usually just me living here in the winter. Usually..."
Averting his gaze from Terrie, Emris looked at the door. "So...I guess I should show you the room now." He chuckled, "After all you might want to see where you'll be sleeping. And I don't mind you staying here, Terrie....think of this room yours as long as you need it." With that he pushed the door open and motioned for Terrie to go first into the small but cozy room with a small limestone fireplace, a place to sleep with pillows and colorful wool blankets, and some pieces of furniture including a shelf to keep things in. He kept quiet and silently hoped that this was okay with Terrie.

Terrie sighed in relief. If he had thought his dreams really had been silly... she would have been devestated about her own. She walked forward and directly into the room, smiling at everything. She went along the walls, touching what she could, admiring and storing ideas for later. She quickly made it around the room and back to the door and Emris. "Thank you. It'll be great." After a few seconds of awkward hesitation on her part, she reached out and grabbed Emris into a clinging hug. Of all the taurs she could have met and become friends with, to give her trust to, she was happy it had been Emris.

"You're welcome." Whispered Emris before carefully moving his arms around Terrie. For a second he had been shocked, but the foxtaur allowed her to hug him and he even held her back in a hug. Without really thinking about it he tightened the hug and nuzzled her soft hair.

Terrie had been planning on releasing him from the hug quickly, but she didn't seem to want to let go. Her arms tightened in responce to Emris' similar action. She tucked her chin against his shoulder and closed her eyes, enjoying the feel and scent of him being so close. "Do hugs happen often around you?" She asked, the suprise of her own clinginess poking at her mind, his nuzzle sending a crawly yet pleasant feeling up her spine that made her tail sway slowly.

Freezing at Terrie's question, Emris stood still as he held onto her. "Not...really no." He murmured into her hair, "But I'm absolutely fine with this hug..." His voice was soft as he reluctantly pulled back but still had his arms around Terrie. "But....it can't last forever can it?" He asked with a quiet laugh.
Moving quickly the foxtaur squeezed Terrie one more time before finally letting her go. "I guess..." Trailing off in a shy manner he headed to the door. "Want to explore the grounds some now since it's too late to start any thoughts of building? And we already have an idea of what you want...so that's out of the way now too."

"I guess it can't." She said softly, smiling up at him. Then the moment had passed. A warm blush krept up her face when Emris headed for the door, a girlish shyness at her own bold action making her look down and start twirling her hair with a finger. She turned quickly to follow him. "Yeah, we can do that." She scooped up the picture she had dropped sometime during the hug. "Is there something special you're looking for out there?" She asked as she admired the picture again, her face thankfully cooling back down.

Running his hand through his hair, Emris finally looked back to Terrie and shook his head. "Nothing really that special." He started with a small grin. "But I know I'll get in trouble with someone if I don't get outside soon." With that he entered the kitchen and gathered the cloth and a small chunk of bread. "Let's go." Handing Terrie the chunk of bread, Emris opened the side door and stepped out into the fading sunlight.

Tucking the book safely under one arm, Terrie held the bread and picture in one hand, leaving the other free. Outside, she gave her hair a shake at the chilling breeze. "We don't have very long, do we?" She said, refering to building the house and winter's arrival. How could they finish it in time?

"I guess we don't." Emris replied slowly. Secretly though he wouldn't mind if Terrie had to stay all winter. Avoiding distraction, Emris walked straight towards the pond. "Hey!" He whistled and a rustling was heard from the bush and beaks emerged. Before he was trampled by the various ducks and the other few birds that came flying over, Emris tossed the bread crumbs out to the group.
A single duck however with her shiny blue eyes that contrasted deeply with her snow white feathers came straight to the foxtaur. "Oh, boy." Laughed Emris as he lowered down and handed the last crumb to her. His eyes sparkling the foxtaur looked back to Terrie to see how she would be after the birds realized that she had the rest of their bread.

Terrie nodded her head, wondering if she would mind the house not getting finished until next spring... But then Emris whistled and her thoughts were scattered by the sudden appearance of birds! She started laughing. "So this is what you meant before!" She watched Emris feed one particularly pretty duck by hand, and looked down at the handfull she had. Would they come to her as well? Tucking the picture back into the book, she broke off a small bit of the bread. "Will they come to me too?" She asked quietly, leaning down slightly to look at the white duck.
