Indeed, I love French more than Japanese.
But I love any and all languages -- I'm rather obsessed, you see...

I'm about to the point where I'm going to start working on a new language with my Japanese studies...
I'm thinking that Russian sounds good.

other useful ways to learn a language:

-read comics in that language ninja it's fun, and you can pick up new vocabulary without serious studying or reading thick novels

-play word games in that language 3nodding yahoo has word games, you can check out the yahoo for the country of the language you're learning and see what they have razz I use www.yahoo.fr

oh, and also:

-read newspapers in the langauge you're learning. if you can't get your hands on any, look for online sites in that language that post news 3nodding it's good practice, and you get to learn more about what's going on in the country of the langauge you're learning while picking up new expressions and words 3nodding

Those all sound like really good ideas, and I've tried a couple of them with German, and now Italian (Haven't done the book thing yet with Italian, but I've started a "tradition" with myself in which I will collect the harry potter series in the desired language.). The one thing I've noticed is that if I don't use the words I may have picked up while reading/listening to music (does anyone know where I can get Italian/German movies?) is that if I don't use the words, I'll forget them.

I also have one other problem that I think is keeping me from becoming fluent in either. I'm shy/embarassed about using them, and I think it subconsciously discourages my brain from thinking in/about said languages....

....FYI.
