I am not exactly sure just how my mother will react to lolita..she is kind of an even mix of both sarcaism and comments. She'll say she dosn't like somthing like my choice of cosplay outfits (such as faye valentine last year she kept saying over and over again "this girl is probably a slut" but she still helped me make the outfit. I guess I will find out at anime centeral this year I am going to try and do a light lolita outfit to some of the lolita events around the con...and since my mother is comming with me to the con..well sort of she is just kind of staying with me..not really attending like me. She'll get to see first hand my Cosplay outfits and lolita outfits and other such things.
Also I have been thinking of showing her the movie Kamiaze Girls for a while now and seeing what she thinks of it and the style of cloths momoko wears..I persoanaly adore that film now.
All and all my mother is pretty flexable with me just cuz I am 22 now..she knows its point less to argue with me and I am an adult I will do what I want to do..wither she likes it or not..but even if its not somthing she aproves of to vastly highly she still attempts to support me in the majority of things I do and give helpful guideince to projects in my life.

My mom said she'd help me make this dress:

Since, you know, it'd be hella expensive to order from BTSSB.

That sounds like a very fun project. I like thte trimming on it. heart Good luck with it! Are you going to use a pattern, or create it all on your own?

My mom WANTS me to dress lolita like! She wishes all girls did because its very feminine and beautiful! I describe lolita fashion as "sweet and lady like".

I think my mom thinks it's an interesting style. Something different than the uber miniskirts, tighttight shirt type of fashions we have in America right now.

Has anyone ever noticed when people knot the back of their shirt, to make it tighter? I never get that! gonk The shirt is already tight enough! Any tighter and their boobs are going to rip a hole.

Haha, I've admitted to doing that, but only on exceedingly large t-shits, and I have no boobs anyway.

My mom likes lolita. <3

I never took note of that before, but it's so true. o.o But that's already gone out of style here-abouts...

I introduced gothic lolita through cosplay, which worked pretty well. I made a dress that I wore at a convention a year ago, before I decided my dream is to be loli on a daily basis. <3 My mom seems okay with some of the loli cloths I've started wearing, but not really. She always tells me, "It's cute..." or "You're the one wearing it, what I think doesn't matter." [She secretly wants me to do all my shopping at American Eagle.]

Now I've got to work up the courage to show her my bodice. >>;

I've always wanted to go to a convention, but never knew where or how. xd
I've mentioned to a few friends we should have Halloween in May. I would love to do it, if i could get enough people to do it, but I doubt they will. :/ I'll try though!

I haven't quite told my mom about Lolita yet since I only got interested a short few weeks ago. She knows that I like Victorian-ish clothing or ones with frill and lace which is kinda like Lolita. She's only ever seen thumbnails of some jackets by Angelic Pretty[Or was it BTSSB?] while I was browsing the site. She seemed to like them though she got turned off when she found out that they were a couple hundred dollars if converted into Canadian dollars. I do plan on introducing it to her through some drawings I'll show her sometime. I have no idea how she's going to react.

Yeah, same here.

My dad knows more about it than my mom does though. I've shown him (and my brother has too) quite a few times pictures of Mana in different EGL to prove that guys can make pretty girls. And he's the one I usually ask to buy me a new dress online whenever I have the money to pay him back. And he's seen me wear my lolita dresses more than my mother, and often says I look good. So he's pretty supportive of my interest in it. ^^

My mom reacted pretty well to lolita. I mean, I'd always been a tomboy and refused plain out to wear dresses and my older sister was into the reading about the past and got my mom into it. So I showed my mommy a few pictures and tried to explain it. She's helping me sew a dress that I like now! ^^ ((my older sister keeps going on about how it "just has to be a perverse style" to me though...))

x.x I.. feel sorry for you guys. My mom isn't like that with me.. She knows I've liked the whole gothic/victorian aspect of EGL since forever, and she even looks through my books, commenting on some of the outfits. *Shrug* I guess you should just try to explain to your mom/s that 1. It has nothing to do with lolita fetishes 2. Show them some Malice Mizer stuff and let them see it's not all skanky and porn-tastic(Just.. don't show them the Illuminati video..) 3. And I guess you could even invite them to help look for things just so they could see it on you and that it actually looks nice, or finally, 4. If they say you're not wearing enough clothes, go take them to Hollister or AE or A&F and then show them what not enough clothes really are.
One question? CAN YOU ADOPT ME!? My mother isn't very understandbly because of the book and the movie "Lolita".

My mom finally got comfortable with it after I eased her into the idea for about the past year or so...we're looking into getting me a few outfits, probably just skirts and t-shirts with loli graphic design.

And really, a year or two isn't too bad to wait.

I actually took my dad to a Gothic & Lolita fashion panel at the con we went to together. He took a TON of pictures and didn't seem bothered at all by it. I actually think he kinda liked it. He was a little taken aback when a girl got up and she was dressed in Kodona...she looked really amazing, but I think my dad thought she was a boy...X3. He also got annoyed by this guy who sat infront of us. He was crossdressing...but that's not what bothered him. He was bothered by the fact that the guy was really arrogent and stuff...so I guess my dad is a lil' cooler than I thought ^.^

That's lucky. I was watching a video on the internet, and my dad came up behind me, and he said, 'That girl looks like you!' (pointing to a lolita), and then the words, 'Gothic Lolita' came up on screen. He said, 'You're Gothic Lolita! I'm not sure I like the sound of that!'. So he accidentally found out -_-;
