Kitty gasped then ran off to the living room of the mansion, she was quite fast for she played soccer for about 9-10 years. She got there and fumbled with the remote, she turned the tv on and pressed the number for the channel and she heard the sound of a anchor women. Her hands were shaking with fright. i hope L knows what he's doing with this broad cast

L walked into a car and drove away from the orphanage, with Watari driving him away.
The broadcast came on.
((okay, I don't remember what he exactly said, so please just play along))
Even though the screen was not working for the TV, a voice that suspiciously sounded like L's said, "I am L." From there the voice went on saying how Kira was bad, and that he should turn himself in to the police, but after two minutes of the speech "L" said, "I am righteous." Then, voice suddenly stopped by a loud coughing. Those were the last words of him... The person had died of a heart attack.

((ok)) Kitty was sitting on the edge of her seat, ansiously listening to the TV, when she heard a loud coughing and someone yelling that the person had died she gasped and tears welded up in her eyes. "L! why!? you take everything so seriously...why did you send this broadcast?" she said then started crying.

Thorn had quickly followed kitty into the living room after when she had tuned in her radio, the frequency had crossed with the TV and she heard someone talking and calling himself L. When she saw kitty start crying she couldn't believe it. The person on the broadcast didn't even sound like the detective!
"Kitty! Calm down and think for a second! Knowing L, he wouldn't go on the air straight away without first testing kira's power by placing a decoy! This guy is obviously not L!"

After a moment's pause, a scratchy voice was heard on the broadcast:
"Well, well, well... This was an interesting experiment, Kira... you can actually kill people without direct contact. I couldn't believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Listen to me, Kira. The man you saw on your TV, Lind L. Tailor, was a condemned criminal scheduled to die today at this hour. His arrest and conviction were kept secret from the media and went unreported even on the internet.
"Even you had no way of knowing about him, it seems... But I, L, do in fact exist. So come on!" He was yelling now. "Kill me if you can! What are you waiting for? Come on, do it! Why don't you try to kill me? What's wrong, can't do it?"
There was a long, awaited pause as the entire Kanto region held their breath. "So there are people you can't kill. I have also collected an interesting amount of information... Although it was being announced that this was being televised globally...it was only broadcasted in the Kanto region around Tokyo." The voice went on to say a few other things before the broadcast ended.
L walked through the door and appeared behind Kitty, watching the TV and having orphans connected to him like magnets. "Interesting broadcast, if I must say so myself," he commented. "Perhaps some theatrics were needed?"

When Kitty heard the scratchy voice she looked at the blank TV screen and blinked a few times. "L's not dead?" she whispered to herself then smiled and wiped her eyes. She listened to the rest of the broadcast and grinned. "wwoooo go L!" she couldn't help but cheer, he had taken a huge step in the Kira case. When L appeared behind her Kitty got out of her seat and couldn't help but join the orphans who'd heard the broadcast and hug him. "you scared a lot of people" Then she stopped hugging him and gave him a small kick in the shin, nothing to hurt but enough so he could tell she was annoyed. "don't do something like that, i thought you had died."

L turned to Thorn. "I'm right here," he said, wondering what she meant. "However, I did use a voice distorter for the broadcast."
The kick did not seem to affect him. "Really? So I should not have done all of this in order for one little girl to know I was safe?" He paused. "You were...crying?"

"no you shouldn't have" Kitty said not seriously. Then she blushed at him noticing her crying. "maybe" she looked around like she wasn't.

Thorn smiled. "Though kitty's not much of a little girl is she?"
Before L could reply she gave a little giggle. The precious moments of time when she actually had fun. They were so important to her that the thoughts about Remu seemed to fade away. Though it couldn't last forever.
"Kitty was just talking to me when you were away before." Her expression changed to something between anger and happiness. "At least SHE believes me!"

L reached out and brushed away one of her tears. He did not understand, either, about emotions. He had felt anger, as well as frustration, but besides that he did not know sadness, love, or any of the other emotions felt by others. So what did it mean when on blushed...?
He ignored Thorn's comment and walked away.
"Not really, no. And I, as well, am glad to be alive. Cookies?" he asked hopefully, heading for the kitchen. A wonderful scent of sugary delights wafted through the orphanage. One of the orphans cooked him some sweets in celebration for him not being, well, dead.

Thorn knew that when the detective had walked away she had no chance of being on his good side for at least the rest of the week. She was sad. Frustrated. Confused. And above all, scared. Could she honestly keep her sanity while at the same time keeping herself from slipping up in her work or losing the only friends she ever had?
She slowly walked back towards her room and passed the kitchen along the way. She saw L standing with her back to her and she sighed.
"L... I'm sorry..." She said quietly as she sadly kept on walking.

A firm hand gripped her arm and practically dragged her inside. "I forgive you," L said between mouthfulls of sweets. Orphans were crowding the kitchen now - either crying in each other's arms about the scare they got from his faked death, helping put the food on plates, or eating something themselves. Guaranteed that the strawberry cake was untouched.
"As I always say, while the past is behind you, and the future is ahead, enjoy the sweetness of the present." He hungrily dove for the strawberry cake. "Now come over and eat some of the cookies! They're delicious!" He lightly kissed the orphan-cooker on the forehead, thinking nothing of it as she blushed and he stuffed himself with cake.
"Must be all of that sugar," one orphan said to another, laughing.

Thorn smiled briefly. But the pain inside was growing. She moved quietly to her room before L could finish his cake. Once inside she locked the door and lay on her bed staring at the ceiling.
"L... I know what you say has good meaning to it. I just don't want you to think I'm insane. You always stick to the facts..." She sat up and looked out the window as it started raining sending wammy students running inside. "Which is why, though you're a child inside... your imagination will never grow to consider the imbossibilities..."
"You should've been a poet kid."
Thorn's attention was suddenly brought to the fact that Remu was standing at the foot of her bed.
"You! How come you keep showing up like this?! What do you want from me?!"
"It's complicated... but one thing for sure is that you don't need to be afraid Ha-"
"STOP CALLING ME THAT! MY NAME IS THORN!" She couldn't help but yell at the 'shinigami' as a mixture of feelings from depression to rage boiled up inside her.
"Calm down! Jesus girl you really hate me don't you?"
Thorn stopped. Was that true? Well yeah she didn't exactly call Remu her best friend considering the circumstances, but did she really hate her? Thorn had only just met the strange creature of a girl and she had yet to find out why Remu was with her in the first place. Was this hatred of the person standing right infront of her, or was this just fear and confusion of what might come later?
