"At least let me tell him."

"Tell him that you screwed up royally."

"Yes, I screwed up royally." Kaspar did not bother to look at him. Shut the ******** up, Emory...

The squirrel had deemed it necessary to come inside for the first time in ages, sensing somehow that Kaspar was suffering and required someone to gloat in his face.

"Agios, you have homework to do. Even though it's summer break, you still have to study for driving school. I am not going to put you through it a third time. Now you have a test on..." Morcanth watched his son as he let his sentence trail off.

"Tuesday..." The rabbit rolled his eyes. He was not looking forward to a weekend of studying the rules of the road. But he needed to pull up his grades, and apparently Kas couldn't help him now. Reluctantly, he pushed away from the counter-top and started to leave the kitchen. He was wearing a faint though somehow angry smirk, and why exactly was anyone's guess.

Morcanth watched him leave and glanced back at Emory. The squirrel shrugged, also smirking, and left the room. The tiger finally turned back to Kaspar, brow raised. "I don't think I've seen you behave like this... in years."

"I know." Kaspar looked down at his feet and closed his eyes, the perfect model of dejection.

"Well... get that phone call made before it gets too late. You wouldn't want to wake anyone." The orange tabby patted the angel's shoulder and reached up to kiss his cheek - he'd gotten so tall in the past few months!

"All right..."

Morcanth stopped in the doorway and leaned against it briefly. "Kaspar..."

The angel looked up. "Yes, Mom?"

"What you did was wrong... you know better than to talk like that." The tiger's voice was not reproachful though it could have been. "But I understand... and I'm glad you've found someone."

Kaspar smiled at Morcanth, who left shortly after. The thing was, he did not understand. He thought he had spoken out because of Anatu, somehow. But it was really because of Dante.

He was allowed one phone call, and for the first time in his memory, it felt like prison. The bars on all the doors and windows were already slamming shut.

Moments later he was closing the bedroom door behind him. He fished inside his pocket until he found a slip of paper then flipped open his phone. He entered a number... and put a star before Anatu's name so it would always be at the top of his list. Then he dialed and waited for it to connect. The sick feeling in his stomach tightened as the seconds passed interminably.

- - -

Chance was currently at a bar. It was some dark, quiet, obscure place and the only things he was certain of were that the glasses were clean and that nobody knew him here.

It was a good place to ponder the meaning of life and get drunk in the process.

"Yeah, I'll have another," he replied to the inquiring bartender. There were three empty glasses beside him but he did not really care.

Anatu was actually making a pie. He'd cleaned up dinner, had done the dishes and now he was making even more dishes for himself to clean up. Dante was sure and speedy to get up and go, but not until after he'd done his own dishes as Anatu had 'kindly asked' him too.

Tail flicking he was working on filling the pie now when his ears perked at the sound of the phone. Glancing at the clock curiously he headed over to answer, wondering who it'd be. Wiping his hands off he reached to pick up the phone when it was taken before he got it. Looking up he spotted...

"Hello?" The Pegasus glanced at the other with a small smirk.

The tiger frowned a bit but started to head back towards the kitchen, tail slightly poofed, finding that Karauagh was never worth the trouble.

-------

Dante's tail swished as he walked down the sidewalk... he'd just been walking not really wanting to go somewhere he'd been recently, so he'd decided to walk until he reached a place he'd never been in. Why the urge? He didnt know.

Quietly he glanced at the sign and the door before walking in, glanced around, before making his way to the bar, actually a bit fond of the dark and quite atmosphere. Taking a seat, he ordered a Tequila Sour.

Twice Kaspar tried Anatu's cellphone. They rang before going to voicemail so he could only assume that either his ringer was too quiet, or he was in another room. The angel tried the home phone and was disappointed (though not surprised) to hear an unfamiliar voice. "Hello, is Anatu there?"

- - -

Chance finished his fourth drink and held up his finger. One more.

The bartender came by with another as if it was just waiting for him on the counter. "Want the bottle?" he asked wryly.

"Tsh. Whiskey next..." Chance smirked at him and the bartender laughed.

Karauagh smirked after Anatu and his tail swished watching the door as he answered, a bit obnoxiously so Anatu would hear, "Anatu who, love?"

That did it, Anatu turned a complete one-eighty and went straight to the phone hand out, "Give it." He had no frown merely sternness in his voice and eyes. It was like babysitting sometimes, really!

Still smirking he held the phone up since he was obviously taller than the tiger. "Only if you can reach it ~"

"Karaugh. Not amused." Anatu gave the other one of those looks that you really had no way to blow off...

The pegasus rolled his eyes and handed over the phone saying no more as he knew Anatu was serious and if he made the other mad... well... there probably wouldnt be any dinner for him for the next several days, let alone dessert. Tail flicking he turned away, starting for his room.

The tiger took the phone watching Karauagh leave before answering, "This is Anatu..."

-----------

Dante thanked the bartender for his drink as he received it, taking a sip. His ears perked and swiveled a bit at the sound of a voice that seemed familiar. Looking around he spotted...

Oh... wow.... His ears perked blinking... How many times would this make it that they'd ran into each other. "Chance?"

Kaspar had been about to reply when he heard an unmistakable but minor scuffle. Apparently Anatu had overheard the other answering the phone. Had he been waiting for a call...? That was just... silly... right?

He smiled when the tiger spoke. "Hello. It's Kaspar. I tried to reach you on your cell..." He did not even bother to ask about Karauagh.

- - -

Chance heard someone call his name. The only talking he wanted to do was telling the bartender what he wanted next. The whiskey sat next to his hand waiting for him to finish the other drink. The song, "I Drink Alone" came to mind and he smirked, poking the glass lightly. He didn't look up to see who had said his name, he just waved vaguely.

Anatu couldn't help the light purr that came when he heard Kaspar's name. As the other saying he'd tried his cell he immediately tried to find it on his person. "Oh ~ I must have left it in my room. Sorry about that ~ I was making a pie, and didn't want to get it dirty." He smiled.

Tail flicking he was curious as to why the angle was calling already. Maybe he'd rather just finish the planning tonight? Or maybe... He had to cancel? Oh no... His spirits dropped lightly, though he immediately picked them back up by just brushing it off...

----

Dante's tail swished behind him lightly as he quirked a brow at the vague wave... Shrugging it off for the time being he turned back to his own drink, quietly. Obviously the other wasn't in a mood for socializing... Maybe he should just leave him be?

Oh... that's right, don't they have a phone in the kitchen? Of course Anatu would be nearby... It was a little disappointing, but not nearly as disappointed as he was with himself and the predicament he had put himself into. But it was wonderful just hearing Anatu's voice. He sighed, which could have been interpreted as annoyance but could not be further from the truth. "That's all right. I'm just glad I got a hold of you. Um... so yes. About Saturday..."

Kaspar switched ears. "The thing is, I was wondering if we could push it back two weeks." He grimaced, and was almost certain the tiger could "hear" it too. He was actually very red in the face. "Actually... I won't even be able to come by the shop for the next two weeks. I'm... sorry..."

- - -

Chance heard nothing else from the other party. Perhaps they weren't drunk enough to push it, or perhaps he had been mistaken and it had only been someone speaking the word "chance." He chuckled to himself and finished his drink. It was so dark in here though that when he looked up from the glass he almost missed that unmistakable green fur. He did a double take. "Dante?" He watched the wolf in surprise; he was not ready to face this one person. He did not know what to say or how to say it...

Oh dear... here is came... The tiger flinched lightly as he waited for the other to cancel, though blinked, ears perking at just having to move the day. "Two weeks? Why two weeks?" He of course had a small idea of as to why, but was curious if Kas would explain himself.

His ears droop lightly at the thought of Kas not coming to the shop, as he enjoyed talking to the other when he had time.

-----

Dante had just polished off his drink and had ordered something a bit harder to drink when he heard his name spoken. Ears swiveling he looked at Chance, giving a small finger wave to as he smirks lightly. "Hi Chance ~"

"Well... I..." Kas trailed off. If Anatu could see him now he might swear he had been dipped in beet juice. He cleared his throat. "I was grounded. I deserved it I suppose, I lost my temper... Anyway, I thought I should tell you. I'll miss you..." It was so painful to say all this. He had gotten used to seeing Anatu almost every day.

- - -

"Um... Hi." Chance sighed a little. Well wasn't he in good spirits. He downed the whiskey almost in one gulp. The resulting burn brought tears to his eyes and it felt good.

"Oh no ~" Anatu's ears went back as his idea had just been confirmed. Looking at the floor he sighed but looked back up at Kas saying he'd miss him. Looking back down he blushed a bit, not able to help the warm happy feeling that came over him at the thought. It was weird and mildly confusing that he was happy now...

Tail flicking he smiled lightly, "I...I'll miss you too. It's too bad you got grounded, but you know, my shop will always be where it is... and Ill be there when you can come back..."

------

The wolf watched Chance quietly, there was obviously something going on... Well, duh. He'd just gotten in a fight with Kaspar. He looked to his own drink taking a swig, not sure if he should actually come up with something else to say since it seemed Chance was sort of sorry shape. Tail swishing behind him he finished the drink and ordered another. Maybe he'd try... "Having family problems?" He said it quiet enough to where Chance could just blow it off, but loud enough making sure the other heard.

Kaspar found himself smiling despite himself at the other's response. Maybe it was because Anatu was taking it so well and welcoming him anyway, or maybe it was just hearing his voice that made him so happy after what had happened earlier. "I'm sorry about earlier..." How could he explain himself for acting so strangely?

- - -

The unicorn eyed the wolf a little wildly for a moment. Had he seen...? Running fingers through his hair he decided it didn't matter much. He finished the whiskey and gestured to the bartender for another. "Yeah. It's complicated."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 08, 2008 1:52 pm

Anatu switched the phone to the other ear, his tail flicking lightly at the apology. Giving a small purr he smiled lightly, "It's okay. It happens... ~"

-----

Dante's ears swiveled toward the other before he glanced. Looking at his own drink he finished yet another, ordering again. "I see." He wasnt one to immerse himself in family situations so he really wouldnt know. "Im... sorry to hear that."

"Well... it kind of ruined things. So, I'm sorry..." Suddenly he just felt awkward. It was difficult to apologize for something Anatu was in the dark about.

- - -

Chance smirked lightly, glancing down into his glass after it was passed to him. "Well, it's life. What're you going to do." After a moment he glanced up at Dante. "What brings you here? Do you come here often or something?"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 08, 2008 2:24 pm

"Oh, no, no. It's okay... We... we'll just have to postpone it a little. Just make sure to be nice ~ Maybe they'll let you out early for good behavior. " He keep the small smile on his face, not quite sure he was able to give a full one. "Oh, hey! Um... Do you you perhaps... like apple pie?"

-------

The wolf looked over at Chance at the inquiry, smirking a little at the fact about life. "Well... I just happened to pass it. I actually wanted to go somewhere new so I just walked... Figured Id run across a bar I'd never been too. Not like they're scarce or anything." He gave a small grin, "How about you?"

Kaspar smiled faintly. "I will. Maybe they will..." It was funny, he had been thinking the same thing. But it was likely they would let him off anyway; the point was he was being punished and that he would learn his lesson. He already felt terrible. There was little point in making him suffer for the full two weeks. Right?

"Well... I should probably go..." He didn't want to hang up, but he had no idea what to say. Just being on the line with Anatu... well, anyway.

"Pie?" Random question. "Er... well yes, I like apple pie." Anatu should know he liked things like that, though maybe not apple pie specifically. "Why do you ask?" Was he going to make Kaspar a pie for when he came back?

- - -

Was that so. "Heh... fancy that. Me too. It seemed sufficiently dark and quiet. So I took a seat and proceeded to buy the bartender out of half his stash." He smirked at the guy behind the bar as he passed.
