"I still don't trust him," She said again, and edge to her voice. "And I Really don't like his family. Don't like them, don't trust them. And I wish mom was here..." Her mother was Angel of Music, the oldest of their herd, the one they looked to as leader, but she had left with Music of the night. The leaders of two of the largest herds had left, they said they needed a vacation. In her mother's absence, Seraphina felt it was her duty to watch over the herd. She may not have been the eldest child, or even the eldest daughter, but she cared about her family and she needed to make sure nothing happened to them. Dimitri, she realized. He is part of my family. Of course he was. And even if she didn't know, couldn't understand, what it was he wanted with her, she knew she had to take care of him as well. That was her responsibility.
"Nothing," Alex said slyly trotting past her. "So what are we going to do now that we're free from the creepy cave?'

Takako shrugged. "I dunno...but things are creepy in the cave." She whispered, shuddering as she recalled the thing that crawled over her foot.
Dimitri caught the thought but didn't reply to it. He looked to her. "Your aunt isn't all that thrilled about them either. If I've ever seen her despise anyone it's them and them alone. So you aren't alone in not liking them or trusting them. But then Music grew up with Raven..." He shrugged. He wasn't even sure what to say about her wishing her mother was here. that was out of his power...

"But you don't have to worry about them anymore," Alex reminded her. "You out of there now, remember?"
"So did Mom," Seraphina said shaking her head. "Yet for some reason she was willing to 'forgive and forget,' very unusual for my mother. Then again, I guess she didn't have much choice when Sirena showed up pregnant...You know what I hate?" she continued without waiting for an answer. "I really hate how the whole pregnancy thing works around here..."

"I'm not the one still cringing at creepy crawlies," Alex pointed out.
"Yeah, haven't you noticed?" she said tilting her head. "This has been a subject of great interest to me. You see first the parents spend a lot of time together, they're happy, they're having fun and so on. That's alright. Then suddenly the female tends to notice something is...a little off. And she realizes - she's pregnant. So then she sits there and stresses "How do I tell what's-his-face" and eventually musters the courage to do that. But it's not over yet, then she has to tell her parents, and his parents and both of them are scared to death to tell her father...." Seraphina rolled her eyes in disgust. "I hate it all so much. It's like these babies they Keep bringing in aren't really wanted. I mean, if you're going to have a baby, you should at least be happy about it! Be excited! Not "How do I tell so-and-so" worrying about it. It just drives me crazy..."

Takako frowned at him. "Apparently you haven't had creepy crawlies crawl over you."
Dimitri grinned. "Not that I can blame them. Some parents do freak out upon finding out, whether they are married or not. But not all of them are like that. Some do delight in being with child and except the baby."

"You could have just fried the little bugger," Alex suggested smirking.
"It's not the whole parents thing either," Seraphina shook her head. "It's how the parents to be act. I mean, they should be happy, over joyed...not sitting there sniveling." She glanced back over at him, "Sorry, bet that was a bit more than you wanted to hear on that topic."

Takako wrinkled her nose. "I could have...but that's killing the little bugger." She knew she was being silly...but having two conflicting talents didn't help either.
Dimitri shook his head. "Rather nice knowing a more positive outlook on pregnancy...Just curious really...would you want children?"

"That would be the general idea," Alex chuckled.
Seraphina though on that for a few moments, "If I ever do, I would want to be happy, elated, about it. Not another mother who fears telling her parents, I want to want to tell them..."

Takako sighed. "It's not easy having two talents you know. But maybe we should get back home so I can rest my leg?" She offered.
Dimitri nodded. "And would you want whoever you chose to be happy about it too?"

"Yeah come on," Alex said moving to walk beside. "You can lean on me, you know, if you need to."
Seraphina blinked. "Well, of course," she said slowly. "I would want their happiness to match my own..." She shifted nervously. "Alex and Takako are already gone, we should probably go too."

Dimitri nodded. "Of course..." He shifted his weight and started to walk slowly.

Learning to Fly
Seraphina gazed silently into the still waters, staring intently at her reflection. She almost didn't recognize herself. Her eyes, yes they were still the same, but everything else...when did she start looking so old? She stretched her wings, savoring the feeling of the breeze on her feathers, wondering briefly what this meant for her flying abilities.
One way to find out! she thought excitedly leaping into the air, all thoughts and concerns about her aging appearance forgotten, lost to the winds.

Dimitri couldn't stay his straying thoughts as he watched her from the shadows as she flew. He didn't want to interrupt her so he didn't do or say anything, simply watched. She had grown into adulthood and Dimitri felt the burden of his soul, his instincts to take her but he pushed them back. She still wasn't ready and he feared she may never be ready.....
