Jester landed near Twilla, and proceeded to watch the Mus put up his fight. He really didn't want to leave Twilla, but Jester REALLY wished to speak to Twilla with out the prying Mus ears just yet. He did like Auze, and valued his friendship but this was something that Jester needed to just have Twilla's ears hear.
Nervous but more excited, Jester waited patiently till Auze was fluffed and carefully placed on the willow's branch. Looking to Twilla, "We wont go far, just up the willow a bit." Jester tried to sooth both the Mus and Twilla. He wouldn't separate the two for to long or to far.
Leaping up to a higher branch, he looked back to Twilla. "This way!" he tried to hid the nervousness in his voice.

"Hear that? We'll be right up here... Sit tight and no eaves dropping." She warned quietly to the mus, who seemed to have settled due to her preening.
Once she was content with leaving her trusted little helper, she turned to face Jester and grinned. He was already heading up and she followed him quickly, until they were a decent distance from the slightly annoyed mus.
Auze, in a huff, moved to the trunk of the tree and slipped into the large opening that served as the nest.

Jester paused on a branch that he felt was far enough away that the Mus wouldn't hear him. Turning back to Twilla, he blushed a bit and became even more nervous. Shifting from one foot to the other, till finally he made himself sit still somehow.
He wasn't sure what to say, or even how to say it. Jester just looked the dark Sentinel up and down for a moment. "Twilla...I..." Jester swallowed audibly, he could hear his heart hammering in his chest. He knew the best way to ask this was to just ask it.
"Twilla, I'd like to court you. Would that be alright?" Jester blurted it out and inhaled a breath to hold till he heard her speak again.

Yes...
The simple response danced on her beak. If she had lips she would be chewing them. However, she did not have lips. Instead, she swayed from paw to paw. It was a simple word, but it's simplicity was misleading.
"Jester...I..." She searched his posture for a response. She wanted him to court her, but their futures would not be easy.
"It will be difficult... If we have chicks... You know?"

Jester barely heard her over the sound of his franticly beating heart. And with her response his heart nearly fell to his feet. He knew of the trouble of Abberants, nor did he wish that upon any other Sentinel in all of Noctua. But he didn't want to give up on Twilla, she was special.
"I...I know, but..." Jester shifted slightly, not knowing how to take her response. On one hand she hadn't said no, but the point she was making was a very pertinent one. He decided to leave it to her choice, he knew he could be strong with her. And silently he hoped it was returned.
"I'll do whatever it takes Twilla. Whatever it takes." Jester spoke in earnest. "I'll let you choose, as my mind and heart have already made their choice." Never had he spoke so eloquently then just then.

Her icy blue eyes searched him for a moment longer. She saw truthfulness in his green orbs and deep in her heart she knew she had already made her decision.
It would be difficult, but they would give it their all/ Still, a nagging worry tore at the back of her mind. He would be faithful and true, she was sure of that. Their future chicks were what she worried about. They would care for them and love them, but she worried about how the sentinel society as a whole would react.
Already, there was a growing number of aberrants. Their size was too large to ignore. The future was theirs, as well, but it would not come easily.
Without a word, she expressed her sentiments towards the wildtype bard. Ever so slowly and carefully, she leaned near him and preened an eartuft.
The action seemed foreign to her, but right at the same time. Since leaving the care of the minders, she had been more isolated. She still dropped by to deliver food to those nest ridden, to sit on their eggs, but otherwise she had little contact. She stayed at the willow with her Auze.

Jester was ready to hold his breath again when Twilla looked deep into his green eyes with her piercing blue ones. They held worry, he knew she worried for future chicks, and how the society would treat them. He held that worry as well but he knew, some how it would all work out. It had to, he would make it work if it took everything he had.
As Twilla made her sentiments clear by delicately preening his ear tuft he couldn't help but puff just a bit. As she leaned to him, he expressed his feelings by gently preening her close chest feathers.
He was slightly embarrassed but he was so full of happiness he thought he might burst, but thankfully not into song.
"Twilla." He didn't need her attention, he just enjoyed the feel of her name rolling off his beak.

"Hnn?" She inquired softly as she moved to his second eartuft.
She, too, was happy. Happier than she could remember, actually. The only thing that seemed to measure was the day she became a gatherer. Even that felt as if it paled in comparison, but only for a moment. She hoped ever so dearly that Jester would keep the hatchlings warm, so she could continue to feed the hungry mouths of others and her own.

Jester beamed and let Twilla continue her preening. "Um..how do we tell Auze?" Jester chuckled a bit, as he nuzzled Twilla's shoulders with his beak.
He wanted to sing out to all of the forest about how he felt and how wonderful Twilla made him feel. But he kept himself composed.

"Just do, I suppose. He will have to get over it at some point or another... As much as I value his companionship, he is a mus, after all." She replied, once she pulled her beak away from the top of his head.

"Sort of like I just did?" Jester mused over what had just happened. Nudging Twilla with his tail feathers coyly. Then moving down to the lower branch, heading back towards where they had left the mus.
Looking up at Twilla, Jester sighed with delight. He could almost feel the hearts gushing out of his being. He was very content.

She gave him a wry wink and followed close behind. "Yeah, like you did. He is bound to behave a bit sordid for a bit... But he will come to. He must realize he won't be the only male in my life forever." She chuckled and made her way into th nest that she had built for herself.
As she predicted, the grey mus was curled up and scowling.

Jester had a smile on his face that spread from ear tuft to ear tuft, yet he worried this would make the mus even more spiteful. He tried to hide it but just couldn't. Landing on the branch near the entrance to Twilla's nest, he waited.
"See I brought her back safe and sound Auze." Jester tried to lighten the mood of the mus, or at least he hoped.

"Yea..." The mus grumbled.
Twilla did not seem bothered byt his, though. She knew her mus would come around sooner or later.

Jester glances between Twilla, and Auze, not sure if he should tell the mus or wait for Twilla to. He'd much prefer Twilla say something, as it wasn't his companion.
Moving slightly closer to Twilla so that he just touches her with his body. Nodding his head towards the mus, while looking at Twilla. Trying silently to ask her to tell him.
Jester was very nervous as to what Auze would think of this new...thing. He wasn't even sure what to call it himself.
