as close as I can get to is the fact that all of my friends in my "band group" and I have nicknames for guys we like/kind of like/don't care but don't want them to know we're talking about them and they are really funny. We have Fairy for my section leader and Twinkle Toes for 2nd chair in my section (you would have to see a pic of him to understand that one) and a few others.

lime green and black, I can't choose one...wait! Electric Blue!!!
13. Are you involved in anything outside of band with your instrument?
not really, I'm doing Solo Ensomble this year, but that is through band...

a couple, I put the reed in my mouth, take the neck and put it on the body, put the neck strap around my neck, put the mouth peice on the neck, but the neck strap on the sax and walk around the band room like that for a little while since I need to set up for band class!

not really, I think I'm good, and I practice once in a while to get parts down, but other than that...

Color Guard has no chairs but I was Section Leader! GO ME!

A little crazy but in a good way.

Well, my senior year there were 8 of us

.....I can't remember where we got out flags from, I know some where old flags given to us from Michigan State University.
7. Hardest song ever played?
hmm, the hardest routine I ever did.... I think maybe Children of Sanchez. We had a lot of hard moves in that song.
8.Middle or high school?
I played the cello from 4th grade to 10th if that counts for something! I did color guard all through high school and now I miss it! sad
9. Band geek family?
Yes, my brother played the tuba and my sister played the flute. We went with the band to New York, Disney World and London.
10.Band love?
Not me personally but a lot of the girls on color guard liked the boys on drum line.... many jokes were made!!!!

hahahaha, the color guard had too many inside jokes!!!!!!! "FLAG! FLAG!" ....uh, don't you mean car?

Hmmm, we had many colorful flags. We had some sweet purple flame flags and some bright orange ones. I wished we had, had some green flags.
P.S. I would of loved a purple cello! How Bad @$$ would that of been?

I'd gave the underclassmen lessons on the flag but I did take lessons when I played the cello.

I didn't hate... there was just some girl drama that I had to deal with, no big deal.

Can I be both! I'm such a geek and I really liked color guard.

For a half time show? All depended, are the right flags on the right poles? How many flags are in the half time show? Do you need flags on both sides of the fields? Do you use pre-game flags in the half time show? Do any of the flag tips need to be replaced? That and how fast can you run? This all determined how long it took us to set up our flags!

I practiced a lot to get the hang of it. After you get all the basic moves down it's just learning the more complex stuff and memorizing all the routines/charts.

All except for the loner part. I had friends that were in band and band friends.

No, but I did help TP the girls cabins at band camp and we put water balloons all over the football field one time!

HAHAHAHA! waaaaay tooo many times. I did it myself one time after I set up some flags on the other end of the football field I had to run back to where the band was and I slipped. I fell in front of everyone! I was very embarrassed but it was funny.

on my bells you can take the keys all the way off. so while we were practcing our second show song (where i play with one piccolo) someone swithched the top 2 keys. and it sounded horrible. all sharpy with flats and what not. no one confessed, but i have a good idea who it was.

i love our mb uniform, it looks like the ultimate michael jackson out fit, but it's all good. its red with these shoulder thingies, and white boarder stuff around the edges. then theres the big sparkley sash thing and black pants. we have blck mowhawk plumes on shiney silver helmets.

My tenor doesn't have a name... My alto's name if Freddy! (which is where I got my username)
3.What chair?
Technically I'm second, but to two of us tenor players are pretty much equally good so we don't pay attention to chair numbers very much.
4. What classification does your BD rank under?
The funny, still-a-teen-inside, stict when provoked kinda guy.
5.How many in your section?
Well, there are 2 tenors, but 5 saxophones in all. We consider all of the saxophones as the same section.
6. What brand Instrument?
Tenor- B&S!! I love it to death!
Alto- Jupiter
7. Hardest song ever played?
uhhh... 'Groovin Hard' in jazz band.
8.Middle or high school?
Freshman in high school!
9. Band geek family?
I'm the geekiest, but my brother's in concert band in the middle school. I go to most/all band functions because I'm really close with some of the people in my band and we do pretty much everything together.

Sadly not.

hmmm... we have so many! The first one that comes to mind though is when we were taking a test on one of the historical time periods and the bari sax player didn't know one of the answers, so he put carrier pigeons. Ever since, whenever our BD mentions anything about a test, the bari player always says, "and I'm guessing none of the answers will be carrier pigeons?"

My tenor is black and I love it that color. I'd want my alto to be... green!

No one the actual instruments, but I have a whole bunch of stickers on my alto case. I haven't put anything on my tenor case.

I actually don't have any dents on either of them! I have a bus load of scratches on my alto though! My tenor has a few scratches, but I try my best to keep it out of harms way. The black gloss is chipping off of the bottom because someone hit it with a stand last year in after school band!

I don't know actually. I don't think I look bad but I don't look great either.
17. Best compliment for your playing?
When we were playing the song 'Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis' our BD was getting frustrated because the time signature changed almost every measure (from 4/4 to 3/4 to 6/8 ) and no one was getting the transition right. Well, he heard me playing and had everyone stop so I could play it for them so they could hear what it was supposed to sound like!
18. Weirdest instrument you've ever seen?
hmmm... that depends... do I have to have seen it in person, cause I don't think they make them anymore...

Most of the time. Unless the time signature is really weird cause then I pay more attention to tapping my foot on the beat than what I'm supposed to be playing!

I don't have one! I love them all!

Absolutely none! I love them all! They're like my second family, along with several other people from the band.

Not a really long time, a couple minutes maybe. It is a saxophone after all! And the saxophone section is always the last to put their instruments together because we talk to much...

I practice occasionally, like when we get new music that I had trouble sight reading in class.

well im the only bassoon in my class, i hate the other mallets with a passion (cuz they suck), and im envius that the 1st bass is first right now

for the bassoon it takes me about 5 or 6 seconds, the vibes about 1 second to uncover it, and the bass drum about 1-2 minutes cuz i gotta get it off the shelf and then put the harness on.

none...no dents, scratches are unavoidable with the belt with my bass.

some important guy at the blues festival said my bass playing was right on. <3 I felt so proud of myself. and mr. reynolds said my piccolo solo was perfect and I had improved greatly ^_^

eh...I practice when I need to, but most of the music is too easy to need to practice and by the time we actually preform, I have everything memorized.

uhh.. my crappy flute has like... 50 dents/scratches. and my new one has a few scratches but not that bad.

Too many to say for sure, but i'm assuming about (counting in marching spots in the air) 30 at least.

Absolutely! I play the flute and i did a little bit (a months worth) of guitar, little brother plays the sax (started with alto, switched to tenor, wants to do bari next year), both play piano, mom used to play the guitar, dad messes aroudn with the piano a lot.

Silver. Same as it is right now. Only, I'd like for it to be ALL SOLID SILVER, instead of only the head joint and the rest being silver plated.

No. No I haven't. Thought about it, almost did once, but decided against it.

Too many scratches and dents to recall all of them. But a couple of the dents (out of the 3 tiny, can barely see them, dents that there are) are from when my flute toppled over from their resting position against my legs (it was standing upright) onto the pavement during marching practice while I was trying to get my hair tied up. That's happened on 5 separate occassions, but only 2 dents (thank god!). The huge can't-miss-them-even-if-you're-blind scratches on the crown are from when I dropped my head joint onto the pavement (also on the co-op parking lot known as the practice field). So sad crying .
16.Do you look good while you play your instrument?
I actually look pretty good playing my instrument. I have one of the best postures in my section (and damn proud of it!)! Plus, our marching uniforms (new. first time we wore them was last year during the 4 play-off games we managed to get into somehow) make us look good! They're actually form-fitting!

My band director used me as an example to the rest of the section. That made my day.

Of course! I can't help it! I do it even when there's no need to.

I don't really think there's a "least liked section" in our band. But if there was, it's almost definately be color guard (is that even a section?).

Nope. I dont' give any lessons. I give advice and help with tuning issues sometimes, but no lessons.

I don't HATE it persay, it's more like...I find a lot of them annoying. The sophomores are kinda annoying, the freshmen aren't very smart, and some of the seniors (thankfully some of them quit and some moved to color guard) are just plain stupid people who have nothing better to do with their time than to stick their noses in other peoples' business and gossip about it. -sigh- Oh well. That's pretty much every flute section for ya I guess. Full of gossips, with the occassional "sane" person.

I'd say I'm both. I'm a geek in my own special way. And I also just plain love band! We're all one big family! I mean, during marchign season for example, we spend more time with the band than in any other course or any friends who aren't in band than any other time. And when it's not marching season, we still spend more tiem together than with any of our other friends because we also see each other around school. Same with our families. Face it, we wouldn't be spending so much time in band if we weren't band geeks (how else would we survive all the craziness! rofl ).

Not long. It's not very hard to set up a flute.

I have talent, but i hate practicing. My BDs have always told me that I have talent for the flute, but the fact that i don't like to practice is holding me back. I know it's true, because I've noticed that whenever I actually DO something that could be considered practice, I get improve exponencially! So I can advance really easily, but still. I CAN'T HELP THE FACT THAT I'M LAZY!

Most of my friends are in band. In fact, I dont' think i have any numbers in my phone from my friends who aren't! Well, with the exception of 2, but they're my best friends, and one of them used to be in band because I talked her into it, but now she's in ROTC; and the other I've known her since I was like 6 years old.

lol not so much dents as scratches. Most are from bumping it against the chair to get the spit out and others are from it falling on the floor and stuff.

(that reminds me) How many dents are in your instrument?Stories behind them?Get out your instrument and count them for us!! our timpani mallets are falling apart. whenever u hit it 3 times, it falls off(the fuzzy stuff) we need to use a big clip to hold it together. 16.Do you look good while you play your instrument? um, i look a lot tougher and stuff, cuz theres only 3+1(me)=4 girls in band, so in comparison i look tough due to being around the boys all the time. 17. Best compliment for your playing? um since i practice everyday during school, im the best in the percussion, but i dont get a lot of compliments except when i played bass drum and kept the most perfect & steady beat. he said i pred up when he told me about a millisecond when he needed it. i do better 3x when im actually performing. 18.
