artistic - so she has an artistic ability. That sounds really nice - especially if she is small boned and so won't necessarily excel at sports against the larger boned competitors. I was always getting stitches and casts - I tried to fit in with my older brothers friends instead of my older sister's friends. It wasn't my parents fault, though. I had piano lessons, horses, LOTS of books, a farm and cattle ranch to keep busy in.... oh, well. I had a lot of fun once it quit hurting! 4laugh

Pretty -
My daughters both got to be in a old-fashioned bridal show last weekend - My youngest wore a flower girl dress from 1940, and the older one's dress was from the 70's. I spent an hour curling and fixing their hair! It went very nicely, so it was worth the effort.

handsome - I thought all my children handsome/pretty and sweet most of the time and enjoyed programs where they got to show off. My two youngest, being boys, did not really get into some of the performances as much as the girls seemed too, but I guess I was still one of "those moms!" who just liked my children getting experiences that at least I thought would be good for them. 4laugh

Mirror -
That made me think of "pretty is as pretty does", which I'm telling my youngest often as she's obssessed with her own image in the mirror!

reflection - who better to give her a good reflection of herself, inside and outside, than a parent who loves her?

We're off to the lake for July 4th. Grilled food, swimming, and fireworks! Hope everyone else had a great weekend!

LAME - Since my husband has to go to work early tomorrow (like, 3AM kind of early), he went to bed before dinner, leaving just me and the kids - and their bedtime is long before fireworks, so I put them to bed. So I'm listening to other people setting off fireworks that I can't see, and it's raining. Lamest 4th ever. We're usually at the beach...

disappointing - I am sorry to hear that you did not have a good holiday! My father's birthday is/was July 4th and it has never been quite the same since he passed away. When I was little (he was a deputy sheriff/sheriff for 33 years) the sheriff used to have him start the town parade and I always thought we had the parade and celebrations because it was my dad's birthday! It was a real letdown when I found out that wasn't right!

Sharing
Some don't need to be taught! My youngest shares everything, immediately and for the most part unreservedly. Her sister who benefits from this generosity is another story though - if her little sister touches something of hers she'll throw a fit! Same parents, being taught the same values - what can you do?
(By the way the older is VERY good in many other ways - just has a real problem sharing with her sister)

caring I think that caring about others feelings (including animals since they have found a correlation between abuse of animals and abuse of people) is sometimes hard to draw a line between what a child should and should not try to fix/help/take blame for - especially if you have a relative who gives great guilt trips free of charge! rofl

revenge - have you ever wanted some form of revenge when another child is totally uncaring towards yours? or worse - really just plain mean?

dangerous - I try not to even think about that kind of thing, since half the time it turns out the parents are just as bad if not worse. But I have been known to enact a little discipline on behalf of absent parents (no, it is *not* okay to throw your dog at the fence!)...and if I know the parents are decent people, I get a secret thrill out of telling them what Junior thought he could get away with while they weren't around.

teenagers - I especially love it when the parents response is always "oh! No! Not my child - they would never...." And by the time they get to be teenagers I think the parents are finally getting that, yes, junior did.....

Worry - My only child is four months, I'm scared to know what it will be like to have a teenager! Especially because I'm not that much more than a teenager myself (I'm 21), and I know how teenagers are these days.
