Faria looked over to the two males, recognizing the one from earlier and one from her childhood, Makani. She smiled and siddled over. She dipped her head to the younger of the males then gave Makani a tip of her head. "I hope I'm not interupting any important tutoring. I thought I'd just come over and make with the friendly. How are you both? It's certainly good to see you again, Makani." Faria ruffled her feathers slightly, pleased to see her old friend again.

"Faria!" Makani grinned, rather surprised to see the female. "And just when did you appear around here? I didn't know there were any females about with so much sense in their heads." And to tell the truth, he was relieved to see that she had survived. Many had not, and it was something he tried to avoid thinking about. "I was just introducing Kitrio here to our ways. Apparently the lad was raised outside the colony. And yes, Kitrio, I was getting to that bit." Cheerfully, and gesturing Faria to follow, he led them both towards another fire that he'd been settled at near the back of the large cave, where there was food and drink waiting.

"Well, they took me in just a little while ago, but I've been in the area for a few weeks. Living on my own and the like. Not my thing really. Too much hassle and too little comfort." Faria gave a bit of a chuckle. She looked to Kitrio and tipped her head back a little. "Wow, you were raised outside a colony. Let me tell you know things are definitely different but rarely uneventful. It make take some getting used to, but colony life isn't too bad." The black and green female smiled and followed along with Makani. "So how long have you be situated here?"

Kit was glad to see the food and fire and had mixed feelings about meeting Faria as she joined the conversation. On the one hand, he'd be too embarrassed to ask any more questions, but on the other hand he'd get a break from asking questions which just embarrassed him anyway. It would give him a chance to learn more through interaction and observation. He nodded to Faria, "So I've discovered..." he said. He wondered how the two knew each other if Faria wasn't of this colony, but watched silently not wishing to intrude on their reunion.

Giving up on trying to be comfortable in one place, the whitish harpy stood slowly not wishing to disturb anyone. With a small rumble of her stomach, Yakira was unfortunately reminded that she hadn't had anything to eat since just before sunrise.
Yakira's gaze first went to Kit, then to the black and green harpy who joined with them and was talking to the other male. Maybe just maybe she could approach...'What am I thinking?!' She turned and prepared to sit back down but her stomach lurched again causing a sick feeling to overwhelm her. But was it just for food that she was now walking towards them?
Hoping Kit would be the first to see her, she nodded her head and awkwardly waved her wing at the group. 'Don't chicken out now, Kira...'

More comfortable now that he was eating, Kit's eyes began to wander. He looked upon this group in a new light, he'd already learned it was an all-female scout group - aside from Makani, maybe e could ask later why he'd been with the group - because males were very rare. He wondered which among them ranked high, besides Koda. Would he even see some of these females again? Would he recognize them among so many with their somewhat subdued coloring? On that thought...
Kit noticed a familiar femme and cheerfully returned her wave. Bits of food had gotten in the feathers around his claws and some were dislodged into his lap by the motion but he didn't notice.

Yakira approached Kit with a smile before covering her face with her wing. The harpy had finally noticed the food pieces that were every where on Kit and was trying to hide some chuckles. "Kit..." She lowered her wing and looked at him, "I think you've lost some of your food." A humerous glint was in her gaze as she sat down beside of him.
"Is it okay if I sit here and talk to you?" She asked turning serious for the second, but then her expression turned sheepish, "And perhaps eat something as well?"

Kit looked down with a surprised expression on his face and began picking at the bits of food. "Oh, ah thanks." He looked back up to reply to Kira's question. "Sure, help yourself," he said before thinking. What if she's supposed to wait or something since she's not officially of the colony? After another moment's thought he figured if any of the females had a problem with it then that was too bad, it was what he wanted. And he could have what he wanted, right? He grinned while picking off more food, waiting for Kira to situate herself.

"Thank you." Yakira picked up a hare's hind leg and carefully picked the meat off of the bones. Careful to not make a mess, she swallowed the food before turning to face Kit. "Enjoying yourself?" She asked softly with a faint smile.
That reminded her...was Kit going to stay with the colony? She tried to ignore the thought and to not ask but it still nagged at her. 'Kit believes that I'm invited as well...but the truth is I've been told to leave. It's only due to his request that I'm even here...' Her face shadowed but she tried to wipe that off with a small smile. "It must be quite differant here from how you've lived."

He shrugged a bit, "Better than being stuck outside," he said, which was true, he just couldn't really say whether or not he'd call this a "good" day. He was glad to have contact with his species for the first time in his life, but the strange culture would take getting used to. At the moment however, he felt very relaxed - a setting of equal gender ratios with no talk off eggs!
"Hm, yes. Quite." He got a bit thoughtful before saying anything further. Would he stay? He'd still want to see Azure, but which would be "home" and which would he just visit? "Did you grow up in a colony?"

A direct hit to the heart, but Yakira shook her head, "No I didn't grow up in a colony." A tight smile, "My brother did...but that colony didn't want to have anything to do with me. Too many females already there... So I left and lived on my own, secluded from everything."
I never did get to know what having a family was like...even a colony as it was and is. But at least this time I had a chance, but it was blown by my temper curse that feather brained Ir... Yakira shook her head and tried to avoid those thoughts.

[Celeste Verselles] "Whether you're ready or not Koda, this is your duty." Her own voice was hushed. There was no need to let this conversation carry. "When your mother makes a mistake, she simply corrects it and moves on. If that's not possible, she does what she can. Worrying about things you can't change only wastes time and energy. Just tell your mother the truth." The brightly colored female shrugged lightly. "She has no reason to be angry at you. In fact, I believe that in light of these events, she would have done the same thing. Of course, if you don't feel comfortable abandoning the expedition, I could take a message back to her, and I could take Kitrio and the new female back on our own while you stay here with the girls. And Makani might be useful in helping Kit feel more comfortable among us, which would be one less stress for you to deal with."

"No we'll all go back. This expedition carries no urgency and can be done just as easily at a later time. I think I'd like to speak with mom face to face," Koda nodded her thanks, and headed solemnly toward the sheltered back of the cave. If she made a mistake there was still time to fix it. She resolved to take in as much as she could of all three of the new comers before morning came. There would be time to make a final judgement when the new sun rose.
Looking around she spotted all three harpies grouped up around Makani. Rolling her eyes a bit she mumbled, "How convenient," and settled down with the larger group by the fire. The colony girls would treat her normally, but strangers would become tense if she tried too hard to join their circle. Besides, even if he was a pain Makani knew what was best for the colony. She trusted him to make a favourable impression.

"Curious that they kicked you out," Iris interjected, moving to sit across from Kitrio and his new-found companions. "After all, if you were born of the same clutch as a male, then you would have been regarded as a blessed child. And even if you weren't, having hatched a male should have given your mother enough status to keep you about. What did you do to warrant such a lack of support?" Settling in next to the fire, she smiled serenely at Kit and Faria. "Makani helping the two of you get adjusted?"
"Something like that," came the reply from the colorful male, who's mood was vastly improved by the presence of Faria. "You have to convince Koda to let this one in." He gestured to the green and black harpy at his side. "She's an old friend of mine." And anyone that could make good friends with him was truly talented. "She's been hanging about for a few months. Wanted in, but didn't have the sense to make herself known as I did." Of course, stray males were usually more welcomed than extra females, but he was of the opinion that Faria would be an asset to the colony.

Wow, a brother. And just as Kit was trying to figure out if there was some strange reason for kicking out the sisters of male harpies - maybe because they couldn't produce eggs with their brothers (ew!) - Iris showed up with the answer to that question. Ouch. Noticing Makani's comment, Kit almost wished he could say the same of Kira, just to cut her a break. She didn't really seem all bad, but with this new information he had to wonder if she had indeed dome something terrible in her past. Still... one's past shouldn't always dictate one's future.
"Makani's been very helpful," Kit said to Iris, deciding to listen for now and make decisions later.

Yakira felt every fiber of her being darken at just hearing Iris speak. “It would be nice if those who like to listen in on another’s conversations would at least announce their arrival first.” She murmured before gazing back to Kit. “And not everyone acts the same towards the ' blesseds‘. no matter what others believe.” Her voice was low as if talking to herself and she knew that Iris would not hear that comment.
Silently thinking, a twisted feeling filled her gut, ‘Status, eh? How could a dead mother use her status?’ Her wings tensed, but she slowly relaxed and held back any other comment towards Iris, that was on the tip of her tongue.
