“I think that Esha is the single most beautiful mare I’ve ever seen,” says the pale Soquili, his eyes shifting slightly to make sure said mare is not anywhere near him. “She’s the color of the pink that the sun splashes across the sky during summer sunsets, and her eyes look like the stars on a clear, winter night. Her voice is like the wind in the trees, teasing my senses like a flickering nymph, calling me after her time and time again. She’s as graceful as a fairy, and as beautiful as a goddess. The moon envies her beauty and the sun gives it spotlight,” he says, slowly growing quieter and slightly unnerved at the end. He coughs, shifting his hooves and giving a slightly nervous glance over his shoulder. “Esha is beauty. I guess I’m not too bad myself, but I am nothing compare to h-“

“Khilan, what are you doing?”

“Oh, Jeez!” he stutters, trampling backwards immediately with a look of complete mortification and his eyes wild, “what if she heard that?”

He was a gem. Not a Soquili, a gem; she'd decided that a few days ago when she'd first spotted him grazing in a pasture of wild flowers. For once in her life, Cassia hadn't run up immediately to the other horse, filled with strange bubbling questions. Instead, she'd watched him for a few days, always on the edge of the forest.. because he reminded her of a seashell she'd once found on the beach.

Finally she'd decided to approach him, after she'd decided what to do with this "gem" she'd found. Trotting across the field towards the male who'd never before noticed her presence, she dawned a gleaming smile when he startled at the sound of her hooves. Lowering her muzzle to nose against his, still stuck in a patch of clover by his hooves, Cassia giggled. "You're mine now."

"What? Why?" the male asked, confusion seeping from his features at this strange mare that'd just claimed him. All in all, he was beautiful but not the fastest creature in the realm of thought.

"Because we're pretty," She replied merrily, "And pretty things belong together.. like the flowers that all grow in the fields."

"I see..." He still looked confused, but Cassandra didn't care. Instead, she bit off a mouthful of clover, and lapsed into a contented silence. After a few moments, Milano joined her; her reasoning seemed logical enough.
