*Gasp* somone agrees with my idea on vampiric dragons?! xd .
One question I have about multi-headed dragons is...how did those heads get there?

You've seen siamese twins right? Sometimes there has been one body and two heads. The one on the left usually has control of the left arm and the other has control of the right (not in every case, because they're all different). There's no way I'd want to have to live like that, but I think the same thing goes for dragons and other creatures with more than one head.
However, if that was the case, a dragon with multiple heads would then have to have separate personalities because they'd all be different dragons in the same body.

Ah yes that would make sense, and as for the two heads growing in place of one, that wouldn't be possible unless( scientiffically speaking) dragons were able to asexually reproduce-this meaning reproduce without any fertilization of an egg- because the head would not regrow at all otherwise.

Wow! This thread has seen some action, huh?

At least I got my answer from Mel about the vampire dragon on facebook. I also stopped playing the darn thing by now. Maybe the only one who would enjoy it here would be Drizzt, he-he... mrgreen

BTW, in response to DA's question about dragons with more than one head, this is what I think:
I have no problem with dragons having more than one head. In fact, I think some dragons on Magic the gathering have more than one but I can't recall.

That's a picture of a drake I found on a google search.

Remember though, that bones - though they may be exceedingly tough, can be burned and turned into ash, or buried. I simply don't think they've been found because their skeletons have either been destroyed somehow or people haven't looked in the right places/not been able to excavate far enough.

Those are my thoughts anyway.

wow i love this!

The most well known depiction of a multi-headed dragon I'm familiar with is Tiamat / Takhisis from D&D / Dragonlance; she is an exception to standard rules of biology as she's a deity & it's a symbolic embodyment of her favoured 'children' - chromatic dragons.
Also there's at least one two-headed dragon in the Warhammer universe, but he's a chaos dragon - the product of mutation.

As regards a realistic explanation of how dragons might have existed, I have a book called "The Flight of Dragons" by Peter Dickinson, first published in 1979.
It gives a highly plausible explanation regarding how the dragon would be akin to a hydrogen filled zeppelin, using wings only for propulsion and manuvering. The book explores the full ecology of such a creature and how the author's theory fits with known dragon myths.
If you wikipedia the book's title you'll get a page describing a film based upon the theories presented in the book - not a documentary, but a story (indeed, one of my favourites from my childhood).
Here's a link to a good review/summary of the book:

I'd recommend tracking down a copy if you can...

You know, I remember Tiamat from a game but I cannot remember the game in which I saw it in. Maybe the name was in FFVII, I'm not sure though...

I doubt I'll be able to track down a copy of that book but thanks for letting us know about it! 3nodding
