Haze will probably end up just like Resistance: Fall of Man: over-hyped PS3 savior/Halo killer, but will fail to deliver anything special. unless if the game gets some gameplay elements that are actually unique (like Crysis), then its just going to be another addition to the already over-loaded list of generic FPS's.

Halo being the Top of said list.

And Resistance added something, weapons that were cool.

And 40 player matches.
Halo isn't exactly something special...

Technically it's dumbed down compared to PC shooters to be more mainstream. Resistance is more like a PC shooter.

Besides nailing someone through a wall with the Auger is priceless. "Where the ********" boom!

It's a child of the Unreal/Quake shooters. Besides, Resistance actually had a decent story.
Crazy Hale and his shananigans.

....And the one joke in the entire game that they took out in the end.

Resistence was a blatant rip-off of Quake and Call of Duty. it had the atmostphere of CoD, and the weapon set/enemy design/gameplay of Quake. the Chimera looked like rejected ideas for the Strogg. and some weapons like the Auger made me think "nailgun" or "lacerator".

This still doesn't make Halo any more original.

Don't think nail guns can shoot threw walls and get stronger with each solid object they pass threw, or project shields that you can shoot threw.

Halo to me seemed like Perfect Dark. >.< Only thing is that Perfect Dark had a good story. Unlike the Halo series. Good story then random alien enters and made it suck.

Two things that don't matter much in determining superiority of games.

You didn't save the world. Just England. That was after everyone went in with you even fighting the angel Chimera.

Halo? Another space marine saving the universe from imminent destruction thanks to a super weapon and a bunch of religious fanatic aliens.

Really? A fun and well-balanced weapon set combined with excellent multiplayer support doesn't have any bearing on the superiority of a shooter?

Wak, sometimes I wonder if you're actually just two different people that log into Gaia with the same account: a reasonable, mature gamer and a deluded, self-righteous noob.

If the number of players and the weapon choices are the main things that make one shooter superior from another then I really am lost. Unless it's just me who value other things in a game.

n00b? I think not. stare

We just have a different value system for games. Not all people share the same values for judging games. The things you think make a game good may not be what I think make a game good and vice-versa. Don't make either of us n00bs.

Wak's right. we all have different senses of tastes in our gaming. I love shooters. Arvis is a sucker for RPGs. and Daxel's mixed. we all have different opinions and favorites. I thought Resistance was a blatant rip-off of Quake and Halo has a great, original storyline. you guys obviously think differently.

Actually, I think the storyline is the best thing about Halo. Has anyone here read any of the Halo novels? The first and third are out and out brilliant.

Also, I just assumed that everyone thought that shooters were all about weapons and multiplayer. Outside of that, there is level design, AI, and story, and (while they're important) they don't seem quite as essential as good weapons and multiplayer support.

Also, I admit I get somewhat irked when people make broad sweeping statements like "that's not important" but then don't qualify those statements with any sort of explanation. I know that Wak is far far from being a noob.
