began Keldan.
Siber flinched as a fireball arced past him.

Siber withdrew the silver shark's tooth necklace from its hiding place under his shirt.

Pages appeared in Siber's mind's eye.
Incantatis Infernum?>

Six of the music charts vanished, leaving a very simple one.
The two of them hemmed, hawed, and hummed until they found the correct base pitch and then, very quietly, brought forth into their plane a mid-sized dog with blood red eyes. It stood, obediently awaiting commands. Microcanus infernum.>

Takeshi glanced over and saw the demon. Calmly, he pulled his USP out, removed the magazine, slid a different one in, chambered a round, and turned off the safety.

"Lose control of it and I'm popping silver bullets in it. Legion's instructions," Takeshi warned. He blasted his practice target again, passing over Legion's focusing motions and achieving a full-sized blast simply by thrusting his hand out.

Haru snapped. He was, admittedly, a little jealous that Takeshi had achieved it so soon. It had taken him hours to realize he could do evocation without the focusing movements, and a whole day of practice to achieve it once.

Takeshi breathed deeply, ducked into a combat stance, hands up, and went into a one-two jab/reverse punch combo, followed by a flying knee. A small detonation came from his knuckles and kneecap with each strike. Haru would've been agape if he had a body.

Haru demanded. It made no sense. He felt Takeshi's knuckles and knee, and knew for a fact that Takeshi was entirely uninjured; his clothing hadn't even been harmed.

Takeshi answered.

Haru commented calmly.

Takeshi sighed.

Siber rounded on Takeshi, deciding it would be best to be furious in a glacial manner for this person. "You pop a cap in this sucker without cause, and I'll have eight of 'em on your a** before the shell hits the ground."
warned Keldan as Takeshi performed a series of physio-thaumatic techniques.
he conceded. The hell hound was still waiting for instructions.

said Siber, grinning boyishly.
The thing, incredibly, responded positively by wagging its tail, getting a running start, and performing a backflip. It landed and faced Siber, its tongue lolling out in a wide grin.
started Keldan. He had to try again.
Siber again interrupted, this time by projecting an image of a firestorm maelstrom contained in a semisphere around the dog. He was still grinning.
The dog crouched down and growled with strain, still wagging its tail, and a very small inferno slowly built around it. Siber realized during all this that it was straining is own mental faculties to keep the dog on his plane of existence, so once the flare had lasted a second or two, he crouched down, called the dog over and pet it, then dismissed it.

Keldan gathered himself after his shock.

Joe grinned. Everyone was moving along amazingly; Siber was playing with his demon like a faithful puppy, and Takeshi was using evocation and combat together. He held up his right hand, fingers splayed. A tiny fireball popped up at the tip of each finger. He flicked his hand at his own target, grinning happily as it was engulfed in flame.
Oooh, that was cool...how'd the fire get so big?

I'll say. Let's do some more.

((Hey Venom, what happened to Taylor?))
PostPosted: Fri Sep 07, 2007 2:20 pm

((I have no idea. I PMed her days ago and it hasn't been viewed yet. I'm considering just having her killed off since she's paralyzed the Hunter base for the time being. Would everyone be okay with this?

((My character hasn't met hers yet, so I'm cool with it. I just hope the sides don't get unbalanced.))

((whatever makes the story progress uninhibited.))

((Ahh, well.))

The glass of the hotel exploded with a deafening roar. Taylor's head dissolved in a cloud of gore.

"Sniper!" Alan yelled, thrusting a hand at the window. Darkness covered it.

"Who the hell was that?" Josh screamed, throwing a translucent shield up behind Alan's concealment.

"You know who it was," Alan said. "The Shadowmen. They must have only recently found us, and thought that the ones who weren't captured were with us, and thought she was the only warlock."

"Who the hell are the Shadowmen?" Linda asked, trying not to stare at the body.

"Rival hunters," Josh answered. "They have a zero-tolerance policy. And a lot of gun experts. They actually operate mostly without magic."

(( whee ooohh, well played!))

Joe continued to train with the fireballs, lighting things on fire at his leisure.
Roland, I'm getting bored...

Fine...but I'm getting impatient.
He hurled a large fireball at another training dummy, then pummeled it with a firestorm of pebble-sized fireballs.

Legion returned to the training room. He seemed somewhat distracted.

"Well. Now that you are all capable of a basic level of skill, the elementalists are going to learn to create a simple but effective shield. I warn you, though, bullets are very difficult to deflect."

He showed them a method and taught them the working of the defense: forcing the air into forceful radial currents, blowing things in front of them around by a cone of wind.

"Practice it. I'll be right back."

((That was decisive.))

A sapphire griffin had proven that.

entire
time.>
Siber tried for ten straight minutes. Finally, after another ten minutes of voice and concentration coaching, and Siber feeling as though his head would explode from the effort, a tiny, midnight blue squirrel with arget eyes appeared on his shoulder. A cruciform silver streak dominated its back.

"Joe! Would you mind too terribly much lobbing a brick at my face?"
He hoped that if Joe for any reason didn't want to, Takeshi would take the suggestion to heart on his own and try.

"I'll get it," Takeshi called with a smile. He pulled a knife from his pocket and flung it at Siber's shoulder.

Haru reproached.

Siber saw movement from Takeshi out of the corner of his eye and tightened his grip on the cross, focusing all of his energy on not dying from what was definitely not a brick.
The squirrel proceeded to break all laws of physics, partly due to Siber's anger at Takeshi for flinging something at him that could actually kill him, instead of just hurt. It sprung from Siber's shoulders when the knife was a foot from his face, latched on, steadied its path, and reversed its direction. Siber managed to dismiss the ired rodent before the knife impacted its target, but the blade was still flying, if not to the young adult's face, at least towards his thigh.
