Kai smiled. At least this guy Shtona was being nice. "Alright, let's go then." He motioned for the group to follow him out the city. Walking past a vendor, he paid for some health potions quickly and put them in his bag. They arrived on the plains as Kai scanned the area. "You guys pick one." He drew out his two shortswords, awaiting the amazing adrenaline rush of a fight.

Nettle shrugged at the guy, then pointed a finger in a random direction. "How about there?" she said cheerfully, getting ready to fight. She was disappointed though that no one else had introduced themselves, but it was their own problem if they got annoyed if she called them 'you'.
(I'm sorry i haven't been posting much but I was recovering from a major headache I got yesterday. I could barely move...Still sorry!)

Cobalt followed them in the shadows and occasionaly used a spell he bought off a mage called chameleon to get through places with little or no cover. When they stopped he jumped into a nearby bush and waited.

Gregory shot up in bed, wincing as the afternoon sunlight hit him in the eyes. Logging into real life was decidedly more problematic than one would readily assume. That aside, he shuffled, nearly catatonic, into his kitchen. The dingy but surprisingly cleanly surfaces offered up no food but coffee, and the boy decided that was good enough. Hearing movement in another part of the house he winced and scuttled back to his room, the large, steaming mug clasped closely to his scrawny chest. Downing the hot beverage, he logged into Ryoku and swiftly remembered why he'd logged off at all.
Voices floated over the sparse trees lining the path the group walked on. One was talking very quickly, and one was more of grunting than anything. As the voices drew nearer, their conversation became audible.
"No, no, no, my dear friend, my very smelly cohort, you have me all wrong! Vive la revolution! All that--that terribly good tosh!" One said, the tone quite panicky.
"Is not wrong, wee pale monkey. You bow to the Dark Empress! You are found out. You vill be sent back to the darklands." The other voice was decidedly deeper and sounded as if a Russian accent and a Scottish accent had had a b*****d lovechild.
Suddenly, just a little ahead of the group, a tall figure draped in kimono-esque robes fell, none-too-elegantly, right on his a**. He proceeded to curl his rather effeminate mouth, as if to bear his teeth, as he scooted backwards on the ground.
"Look, how do you even exist? How did your brain learn the simplistic function of speech? I'm honestly curious. My allegiance is to the Lost Queen, you filthy cretin! I mean, My Gods! Is it so terrible to pick up soap once and a while? I can smell you from here!" The elf's voice held equal parts anger and hysteria. A large, green-ish being stepped out of the tree line and continued to lumber towards Thalian; it had large tusks at the front of it's jaw, an overhanging brow, and wore several skins (not to mention various axes about it's person). It was a beast of the game, but the beast of choice for the Nihilus government's dirty work. Which, in recent days, was increasing steadily.
"Is darklands for you, pale monkey." The beast said decidedly. Thalian opened his mouth to protest, but his words died in his throat as an axe sunk sharply into the ground right by his hand with a solid 'thunk!'. He didn't want to go back to the darklands. It was a wretched place; horribly unclean, and it often smelled of sulfur. The beast (which was decidedly too powerful for him alone) would surely either send him back or kill him and eliminate his gold stash.

Shtona had been following the others silently, watching as they decided which way to go. He wasn't much of a decision maker unless he was fighting. An ally long ago had once told him he had a knack for battle. He'd never really believed it until recently when a large pack of demons attacked him while he slept. Although alone they were an easy enemy, in groups as large as that one had been, they were quite dangerous. Even with the surprise attack though, he'd ended up on top, slaying every beast but one. That one had run away after he'd injured it. That had been only a few nights ago...
He walked behind them, thinking back on that night. Remembering the scratches and cuts they'd given him and how they'd already healed by the next day. Odd how that worked...
He was pulled out of his thoughts by a commotion up ahead. A large green beast was bearing down on a scrawny looking man, so skinny you'd think he'd break in two like a stick. Almost without thinking he pushed passed his party and drew his sword, running full-speed down the path toward the monster. Ten feet...five feet...three feet...lunge! Only one step away from the brute he hurled himself at him, hitting him hard with his armored shoulder. Caught off-gaurd and off-balance, the savage stumbled to the side, dropping the axe he'd been holding.

( Wow, don't everyone post at once... :/ )
Thalian was briefly frozen with surprise, sitting there in the dirt, upon discovering someone was coming to his rescue. Surprise was quickly replaced with the nagging feeling that he probably resembled a damsel in distress more than a little, but if fluttering his eyelashes and screaming kept him alive... Well.
He scrambled to his feet, thin hands clenching into sharp fists. It began, as it always did, with something undefinable bubbling up from what he imagined to be the centre of his being. It frothed and raged outward in invisible waves, something circling his spindly fists that wasn't light but more so a derangement of the reality of the air. Splaying long fingers before him, he forced the twisting something into a pillar with a frown of concentration, and it hit the already unbalanced beast in the chest. As it fell onto it's back, Thalian scurried quickly to it's monstrous head and hovered his hands over it's overhanging brow.
Thalian's face contorted briefly as blood began to trickle from the creature's eyes, ears, nose, mouth. It twitched, once, and then stilled. The elf backed away, a disgusted expression fixated on his countenance as he stared at black-blue blood that stained the hem of his robes. Deciding it was really just too far gone to even attempt a cleaning spell of some form, he turned his grey gaze to his savior.
"I hope you don't expect payment of any form." He informed the rough looking man while attempting to brush off dirt from his clothing. "Because you won't get it."

((Yeah, tell me about it...))
Shtona looked the elf over. He could tell he was tall even though he was bent over brushing off his robes. He had never liked looking up to others, or people looking down to him, so he placed his hand on his sword, (as he so often did) to warn the elf. "I'm not a mercenary as the beast you just disposed of is. My 'services' are free..." he said, turning to the skin-clad corpse.
"Why was he trying to capture you?" he asked, kicking the axe by the beasts hand away just in case.

( krahken: I'm going to pretend your reply makes some form of grammatical sense, mostly for the sake of my sanity, and just say "Alrighty, then". He's your character. )
Thalian straightened, his gaze flitting all around him before finally settling waveringly, once more, on the man before him. He winced, eyes trained, briefly, on the sword and the slightly threatening hand atop it. How welcoming and warm. Though, for the life of him he could not understand what it was that looked even remotely threatening about him at that point in time; he was thin, dirty, a little cranky and mostly effeminate. The elf offered a twitchy, nervous smile in an attempt to dispel his supposedly threatening disposition; perhaps he should have started by thanking the man.
"My apologies, then! And my thanks." Thalian replied, looking what he hoped to be gravely gratuitous. He resolutely stomped down on the urge to make ill-conceived jokes about what 'services' the man often rendered; be nice to the man with the alarming weaponry and calm demeanor. "As for his reasons, who knows? These things aren't known for their eloquent and erudite nature." He nudged the beast's arm, watching it loll lifelessly against his slippered foot with an expression of only mild disdain.
"And even if they were, their very speech is a maze of grunts and sounds. Not that the man on the street is so much better these days, what with general literacy amongst the populace on an alarming and steady decline. Whatever is to happen to society? Not that it matters." Thalian looked up from what appeared to be a brief reverie, glancing at the group of people not too far away. He gestured towards them. "Are you with them?" Gray eyes fixated, strangely and suddenly calm, on Shtona's own gaze.

(I'm so sorry I haven't been posting, but I had a bunch of appointments I couldn't cancel and then my dog got sick and...yeah...)
Nettle had stayed behind the group as Shtona rushed to the elf's rescue. It wasn't her business what happened, not yet. And anyway, the guy seemed like he could take on the thing alone. She was startled when the elf gestured over to the group, but took that as a cue to go over and introduce herself.
"Are you alright?," she asked the fighter as the two males stared at each other.
(I hope I got the details right....)

Shtona just smiled and lifted his hand from his sword to brush back his hair, a habit he hadn't been able to break from the real world. A small film of sweat had accumulated on his brow, which was odd for such a cool day. It had only been a short sprint, the elf had done the rest with his magic. Of course! The magic. I was standing close-by when the elf killed the ogre, i might've been effected by some left over magic in the air. He stood looking at his hand for a second, pondering on the possibilities, then looked up and nodded to answer the questions directed at him. "Yes, i'm traveling with this group temporarily. And yes, i'm fine. Thankyou Nettle."

Nettle grinned at him, then looked around at the group, placing her hands on her hips. "So...what do we do now? Anyone have any bright ideas?"
There area was more or less silent, the beasts probably scared away by the large group. Frowning she turned away from the gathered masses, scanning the trees for any slight indication of life. She couldn't see anyone else other than the more obvious people, but it didn't hurt to be careful.

Cobalt slowly knocked an arrow and aimed at the space next to nettles head. He released the string sending an arrow flying through the air past nettle's head. "Disappear, disappear disappear." he mumbled to himself jumping out of the bush, activating his chameleon spell then climbed into the tree to watch all the confusion.
(remember the chameleon spell makes me invisible so you can't see me but if i do make a noise you'll get a general idea where i am.)
