ABORTION SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!!Abortion is illegal and there is no way that it is not murder! Abortion is killing an tiney human being for your own stupid reasons! Do you even know what they do to it?! They suck the baby out into a sort of vacume witch cruches the baby to death!

Please do your research before you explode on a thread. Thanks. smile

If you have an unplanned baby it could ruin your life, so you should kill it so it doesn't kill you. xD Or, just use a damn condom...O.o;

I think abortion should be legal so its open to those who want it, and its not like its manditory(sp) so if you don't think its right, steer clear of the abortion clinic.

Do your research; I did mine. (In fact, I'm doing an article on abortion for the school newspaper.)

I am againt abortion. I am against it not only because of what it does for the baby, but also for the damage it causes for the woman.
As for the unborn child, it is not merely "a bunch of tissue."
When a child is eight to nine weeks old, their eyelids have already been growing and their hair has appeared. By the time the child is 12 weeks old, all of its arteries have grown as well as the coronary vessels of the heart (this means that the blood is already circulating; its heartbeat ranges anywhere from 110 to 160 beats per minute). But that’s not all: the baby already has its vocal chords and sometimes cries quietly. This is during the first 3 months of pregnancy! After just 14 weeks, the baby’s muscles are fully organized, so it is able to move around and kick some. After 15 weeks it has adult taste buds and after 16 weeks its eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair have grown and it is able to grasp with its hands. By 18 weeks, the child blinks, grabs, and moves its mouth. Finally, after 20 weeks (which is equivalent to five months) the child can hear and recognize its mother’s voice. By now it is growing very quickly and could possibly survive if born at this stage. Its fingernails and fingerprints are visible, as well as its sex organs.

And now, something for the selfish to consider:
There are many after effects for the woman who gets an abortion. Here are SOME of them:
. Suction abortions are supposed to crush the skull and brain of the child and suck the rest of its body out. However, since the brain is so small and the body so frail, often times its fluids are left behind along with other body parts. This can cause a life-threatening infection in the mother’s womb. Having trouble believing it? The head of a major pro-abortion organization admitted that “In 1972 there were one million illegal abortions and about five thousand to ten thousand women died from them.” This happened in illegal abortions, but it happens in any abortion despite the fact that there are new antibiotics, better surgery, etc. The point is that women still die from abortion. Yes, the death rates have lowered due to new medical technology, but hundreds – if not thousands – of women die each year from getting an abortion. . Bladder and/or bowel injury can occur if the uterus is perforated during the abortion. Women who get abortions have higher rates of getting breast cancer later in life: breast cancer has risen by 50 percent in America since abortion became legal in 1973. After an abortion, a woman is eight to twenty times more likely to have an ectopic pregnancy, which is any pregnancy that occurs outside of the uterus and, if not discovered soon enough, causes a woman to bleed to death. (Statistics show that there is a 30 percent increased risk of ectopic pregnancy after one abortion which rises to 160 percent after two or more abortions. Also, in 1970 this happened in about five out of 1,000 pregnancies and in 1980 it raised to 15 out of 1,000 pregnancies.) If a woman gets an abortion it also affects the chances of getting a normal pregnancy ever again. This is because it causes the woman to be more likely to bleed the first three months of future pregnancies. It can also make her less likely to have a normal delivery. The next baby is twice as likely to die after the first few months of life, it will have a low birth weight, and it is more likely to be born prematurely. One to fourteen percent of women require a blood transfusion due to bleeding from an abortion. The blood transfusion can cause hepatitis. If an infection occurs within the woman as a result of abortion, she gains a mild fever which sometimes leads to death. Finally (although there are many other complications), every single woman who gets an abortion suffers from post-abortion syndrome. Post-abortion syndrome causes a range of mental and psychological problems that include frequent dreams of the experience, avoidance of emotional attachment, relationship problems, sleep disturbances, suicidal thoughts, hostile actions, and mostly guilt. These problems occur anywhere from days to years later, and they most likely occur because the woman ends up regretting killing what could have been her child.

If a woman is pregnant as a result of rape, I DO NOT believe she should put her body through MORE damage. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
Adoption is always a choice if she doesn't want the child, and if she really cares about the child's feelings over adoption, then she should care enough to raise it as her own. (Oh, and over-populating is a common myth; do a little more research on SCIENTIFIC websites, ie. those with ".edu" rather than ".com")

Eye-opening stuff, to be sure, but I'm not entirely convinced that those statistics are justified. For example, just because there's a correlation between breast cancer and abortion doesn't mean one of them causes the other.

In any case, I'm currently under the position of "pro-choice". I'm all for providing whatever information is out there, but I still think the final decision should be up to the woman herself, not the governent.

Eh, yeah I know, I don't even see how abortion has anything to do with breast cancer. But what really disturbs me is ectopic pregnancies.... if a woman got an abortion from an ectopic pregnancies, then that would higher the risk even more of getting yet another ectopic pregnancy by 160 percent and if she didn't get an abortion she would bleed to death...

Oh, the thing about the heart pumping blood, that's because the heart is just there. It's not doing anything special for the baby, it's just there.
And also, even though all of those things are developed, that means kinda nothing. Can the fetus do anything with them? Can it run, and play ball? Can it take pretty pictures? I apply the philosophy, 'I think, therefore I am'
It can't think. Thus, it's not really a person.

If it can't think, can you explain why it tries to push the needle away?
Or why it cries silently?

I feel that abortion should only be legal in certain cercumstances.

1. If the mother's life is in danger
2. If the baby will die no matter what precautions are taken
3. If the baby will be born with some kind of terrible disease (like the one where they are missing the protiens that hole the skin to the bones)
4. Rape

The doctor's don't know if the baby will be born with a protein deficiency or not. They can't test for that.

Well, as for number 1, that contradicts itself because abortion IS dangerous for the woman, and it puts her at risk for an ectopic pregnancy, which is also dangerous. neutral

Haha, I remember my 10-page debate that I typed on abortion when it only had to be a page-and-a-half, and it could've even been handwritten. But anyway, to my view:

I definitely think that abortion should be legal. Thinking to the basics of it, anyone who is even considering abortion is obviously aware of the fact that they wouldn't be able to raise the child well financially, emotionally, or mentally. Not only this, but there are instances where people get raped and become pregnant, and times when condoms bust on women who are very cautious about having a child, and they shouldn't be forced to put another person on this planet if they didn't have the initiative to do so.

Not only this, but overpopulation. And especially that of people who are in poverty or who are just moronic and aren't going to survive in this world. It's not like every woman who ever gets pregnant says "Should I get rid of this baby or not," and so, that is why I think people should take into consideration the mentality of the woman and the life she could bring the child.

When I did my paper several years ago, I was actually against it. I don't remember if I was put on the group for it or if I decided to be against it myself, but I didn't have much of a say for it before. Well, I remember writing about how it was basically "murder" and backing it up, saying that a lot of those children could become workers, doctors, teachers, athletes, etc. But honestly, when a fetus (or not even an embryo) is being produced, the person who ultimately has the decision of whether or not to give the child life is the mother herself. Even if abortion becomes illegal in most states (which I highly doubt), women will find a way to get rid of the baby if they will not be able to raise it well. They would use coat hangers, falling down the steps, getting punched in the stomach, whatever method.

I do believe, though, that abortion should only be done within an early stage of a woman's pregnancy. No longer than 2 months of her pregnancy, or even one in some cases, shall she be accepted abortion. Women can't just change their minds like that, they have to act quickly, even though it's hard.

But I remember something Wanda Sykes said in one of her ranting sessions. "No one is pro-abortion." There is really only pro-choice, because who wants to deny life? People just go with what they think is right, and whatever the most logical way out.

But for some women, having a child could kill them, while an abortion wouldn't harm them..

Sorry but you're wrong about the heart not doing anything for the baby. The heart is circulating the blood in the unborn babies body just like yours is. It is deliviering oxygen and nutrients from the mothers blood to it's own body just like yours does.
I am totally against abortion, a baby is living thing from the time of conception, it is living growing, forming and multiplying cells from the time the egg and sperm come together and the child is conceived. I agree all of you who don't believe that abortion is a big deal should do your home work.
