As a matter of personal interest....I built a barracks at my new village for fun.

...do I have to upgrade all the troop types AGAIN!? evil

If -any- of my dudes come back alive, I consider it a victory. smile
Sometimes, you don't even need that. I'm prone to send some huge pile of men as the first wave, then let someone with more expensive troops (poop) follow it up. I'll thin the ranks (though often, I break them wide open) and he can slaughter the few survivors. Sometimes, I don't get a single man back, but I still win in the end. wink

Sadly, yes, you do have to upgrade again. sweatdrop

I just got my first alliance-directed message! Not Balcerzak! I feel so special. 3nodding

Quote:
Oh great Acolyte of the vast and mighty Holy Modist Empire, I wish with all my heart to serve thee and the holy One. I have been unjustly banished from my prior Alliance - they failed to see my potential and only sought to rid themselves of my modest village.

I now seek protection from the enemies of my neighbors; they ravage the surrounding villages, pillaging and succesfully stunting their growth. My dream is to build, not a village, but a haven from the horrors of Travia. This, I cannot do without your excellency's help.

Thus, I reveal to you my crisis, and seek not blind generosity but an open mind. If by your saving grace my village does succeed, I shall not forget your belevolence and that of the One we serve.

I wish to know and understand more of the holy One, and this I cannot do without your help. I am humbly offering my faith to the Holy Modist Empire.

Parallel in Faith and Cause,
b1indsamurai

I am curious as to why
a) This is directed to me (though it thrills me no end; I feel so important).
b) What major alliance he pissed off to get booted from his old guild. xd

I guess I am going to reply and tell him I forwarded his request to our alliance leader. Anything else I should add?
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 12:12 am

Only thing I would ask is why he got booted. It's of importance to us, as to whether or not they had good reason, we don't want to go through the same trouble.

Other than that, it's a well-formulated message. No harm in trying, so long as we know what happened before.

Fairly often my Macemen wind up in Gaul traps.
Sadly, the owners of said traps seldom think ahead to build more troops/traps when I bring back a hundred or two men to free the 20-30 they trapped... talk2hand
If he brings 200 I'm f*cked. I just don't have the resources to build more then I already do. But my guess is that he sent all he had since he does not have a incredible big city. So he have to rebuild his troops, in the mean time I'm going to better my phalanxes and build more traps and more men. That he will try to free his men is for certain. sweatdrop *worriesworriesworries*

Yeah, which is a bit of a pain, but easily managed.
For each of the secondary villages, just pick one or two troops and ignore all the rest.
For example, i'm currently using Mace/Spear/Axe for Winterfell, but as soon as I can afford the Academy and Stable upgrades, it'll wind up being Paladins, Knights, and Catas.

Don't worry Sandra.
Unless they're a Teuton, and think the way Teri and I do when it comes to this game, you're fairly well set. Most people will leave Gauls alone, due to the high defenses and the traps.
It's just when you've got a few hundred troops, you can afford to be a bit reckless and throw them at a Gaul.

And now I have to ponder on my build plans, as someone settled fairly close to the 9cropper I was eyeing and Teri expressed interest in...By Wednesday I could be ready to settle a new village, with the only problem being that it'd be about 3 and a half hours for the merchants from the main city to get there...
Oi, Baly/anyone with a 9cropper, how intensive are they? As trying to support a 15 wheater is definitely stunting my growth.

That's probably what I'll end up doing, Evil. I was thinking the same idea anyway.

I think I'll be joining you over here http://s1.travian.us/karte.php?d=444231&c=42 for my next village Balc.

I don't like 4356 or variations there of, so :/ and it's got an amazing selection of oasis, wood/wheat clay/wheat iron/wheat and wheat/wheat. My next post will include my current village status.

At the moment my troops are busy razing a few wheat fields of the dope who tried to take one of my oasis.

It could be fun. 3nodding Or a complete massacre due to the fact that you are incredibly strong and he just lost all of his guys to my traps. xd I don't know if there is much fun in that.
He doesn't seem to be the smartest cookie. ninja He gets kicked out of alliances a lot. I don't know if just plain ignoring him works. sweatdrop *tries to come up with diplomatic ways of dealing with this guy*

Some extra defenses would be good in the mean time until my own defenses have grown Alexi. How long may I keep them then? heart
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 4:26 pm

And yet again, someone tries to attack my secondary village after it raided them.

Will people never learn that unless they're bigger than me, my primary can and will smack them back down? talk2hand

This is an IGM conversation I just had, and thought I should share:

Quote:
I will talk to the other people in my alliance when they come on in the morning, and see if we can't boost the defenders. I don't know how much they can help, most of them concentrate on attack troops, but I am sure they can contribute a few more.
Try to stay alive until then.

But I am sending what defenders I can in a bit, I am just pumping out another hundred phalanx to help. They won't stop that by themselves, but if enough people send men, hopefully it will.

Who's attacking you, and what numbers/units do they usually send? I can have some defenders on the way, but they will take a long time to get there, so it would help to know what sort of force your attackers can mass.
And there are fairly large members in your alliance: can they help too? The more the merrier smile

If nothing else, my hero will gain some experience, and the potential loss of a few men will definately build ties so that their alliance will actively reciprocate if one of our members need help. I haven't sent mine off yet, but when I do, anyone want to add a few troops timed to get there the same time as mine do so they have a slim chance of taking a bite out of the attack troops?
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:48 pm

My troops (100 phalanx and 40 druidriders) will be there in 28 hours 21 minutes. I have the other members of their alliance/anyone else sending units requested to get there at the same time, so if anyone can throw a few men in, this would be likely the best time. NA has a massive list of co-alliances, so hopefully some of them are contributing units as well.
