Flute's not such a big deal because I've been playing for about 7 years now, but I got braces over the summer, and had to quit picc for the summer so that my mouth could reajust. I'm also going to be going to college soon and will be playing flute, not picc, so I need some practice playing it in an ensemble.

dezidemon I bet it would be hard to play the pic for 3 hours straight. Hell playing the fluts that long can be hard at times. I did that yesterday (band rehersal) well, nearly. Wind Symphony played for three hours, Symphonic (which I'm in) only rehersed for two and a half.

Notquitesane dezidemon I bet it would be hard to play the pic for 3 hours straight. Hell playing the fluts that long can be hard at times. I did that yesterday (band rehersal) well, nearly. Wind Symphony played for three hours, Symphonic (which I'm in) only rehersed for two and a half. That really good male flautist I forget his name, but I heard he warms up for 3 hours with nothing but scales. I'm going to try and play the Flute for three hours straight tomorrow and then Saturday I'll play the Piccolo for three straight.

I'm warning you. THat's painful if you're not used to it. Especially if you play lots of high notes.

Hey yall! I play the flute and piccolo in my band at McKenzie High. I am a freshman and I have been playing the flute for half of last year and this year and I just started the piccolo this year at Christmas. It's awesome! I should be section leader (because I really am the best at the flute, not the one we have now...a sophomore, but oh well...). Got any tips for playing? Send me a message! Later! Bye. Love ya!

Hey, everybody. I'm was a first-chair flute at Giano Intermediate School and am currently retired (sad, huh?) but my flute playing hasn't diminished. As I understand it, had I continued playing I would have been first in my Freshman highschool flute section. But, either way.....
FLUTES RULE!!!!!!

I live in Ohio =D omg i live right by Dayton!!! I'm in Toledo xDD

And I was just pretty much in denial and kept saying to myself it was in Mr. Fig's room, and it was. xDD It's so boring when you just have to sit there in band, I mean there's absolutely nothing to do. Cept' listen to the band. And god did we sound awesome. x___x

I used to play the flute in symphonic band and the piccolo in marching. i graduated and boy do I miss it.

It really sucks just having to sit there and listen... which is why it's good to play two instruments. XD That way, this year, when it was in the shop, I could play my sax so I didn't feel completely useless.

Thursday was a very special day. All of the spring sports had games, and, incidentallly, most of the band is in sports, so we had a total of 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 3 clarinets, 2 alto saxes, 2 tenor saxes, 2 percussionists, 2 french horns, 1 trombone, and a tuba. We also had a sub 'cause May was judging bands in Seattle. I gotta be 2nd chair for a day! Seems that 1st is always nice to the person next to her. It was somewhat creepy, but fun!
In a few minutes I'm off to a variety show to help the band go to Disneyland. We're playing Aladdin (a very cheesy version I might add). It's going to be a miracle if we sound good.
