does anyone here appart from me hate the essential elements books?
i hated it! i used it last year in sixth grade for most of the first semester, our conductor wanted to be through with it as quick as possible and start on real music--i did too.
and about the B note, maybe you can look for it's alternate fingering? or use the albert fingering (i think thats the name) or ohler (i think thats the other fingering name) fingering...i've never looked at those two fingeirngs because i'm use to the boehm system of fingering ^^ they use those fingerings in germany mostly o_o but besides that try it and see what happens! (i just read about those two fingerings yesterday night)
yay someone agrees i'm happy!
mrgreen the only songs i like was lachuchuracha and carnival of venice. now we just play songs like Funky Town and The Baby Elephant Walk *relieved*
lol I was too impatient with the book to like any of the songs
biggrin now as a seventh grader we're playing a bit of high school music and a bit of level two and some level 1.5 music here and there :3. In my symphonic band we're currently playing abracadabra! and Canticum...and i think this other song :3 i'm hoping soon that we can play fate of the gods >o< that song rocks!!!! I'm pretty much happy with what my band is doing now
smile by the way, i have a problem here....
okay, the second and first clarinetist aren't playing what is written, they play one octave higher (i can't tune in at all! I might as well be flat for all i care any not notice), as section leader of my section it's only natural to tell them to play as written, but last time i told them to stop doing something that they weren't supposed to be doing, they wouldn't listen. I was surprised how immature a first chair and second chair clarinetist could be!
crying (I'm third chair...I DESERVE FIRST!!
gonk ) my conductor says he'll do a sectional so he can listen to just us and see if they are playing an octave higher--but i doubt that they'd dare play one octave higher if its just us clarinetist. To add to that, they are very immature sometimes, do you think they deserve to be in first chair and second chair? I don't. (they also lack musicality, they never do dynamics or anything!)
genetic mistake- THATS HORRIBLE
crying no more band...i'd turn insane! Join a non-school group then!
biggrin
