5: You reach a willow tree and you can barely see its eyes through the giant slew of willows. It shakes its head furiously, leaves rain down, and refuses you let you go any closer, batting you with its leaves. Ow!
Sw33t-Cha0s stared at this new challenge, walking this way or that to see if there was some way to get closer. Oh this tree was so adamant about not letting her near! "I promise not to harm you! Just want to chat!" She tried, attempting to get closer. But all she got was a barrage of leaves and twigs.
"You're a mean tree! So mean!" She didn't want to be friends with this one.

Ace waited a while, but it seemed everyone was too busy running about the Tulgey Woods to respond. How like the real world. Everyone's only out for themselves in a virtual one too.
The only thing to do was to keep trying. She sighed and approached the next one, more cautiously this time.
The second tree is a wide tree and doesn't look too happy to see you. It crosses its arms. "I don't think so, the last people who were here were terribly mean about it. Terribly, terribly mean and it just won't do anymore. If you come any closer I will have to resort to violence I mean it! Don't come any closer!"
If you move closer it hits you for -5 damage with its branches.
This one reacted differently, at least. It seemed to shrink away from her as she approached, and whined about other people being mean to it.
"Tree up!" Ace shrieked at it, waving her dagger at it as menacingly as she could. "And let me at your nose!"
The good part was that it didn't disappear this time. The bad part seemed to be the negative number that floated above her when after she ran at the tree and it responded by hitting her with its branches. It was only a piddly amount of damage, it seemed, but Ace wasn't in a hurry to try harassing it again any time soon.

She found herself once again facing the Other Mean Tree. Sw33t-Cha0s frowned (or pouted) at it. "You hit me! And I will find fire to burn you down. Just you wait." Oh yes. Yes yes! She would watch this tree burn to ash and then dance through the ashes!

Frustrated, Ace immediately moved on to the next tree.
3: You reach a tiny tree and it looks up at you and only has a row of smiling teeth. "Guess what I'm hiding!"
If you cater to it then it tells you "I'm hiding something in my mouth!" It sticks out its mouth and lo and behind it is a fragment! +1 Fragment.
If you don't guess the tree looks disappointed. "Oh, okay..." It does not give you a fragment.
"Guess what I'm hiding!" The tree greeted her with a toothy smile much displaced on a plant.
"Your mom?" Ace responded grumpily without thinking, her player starting to go through the help files on battling and healing.
To her surprise, the tree responded positively, its teeth jutting out and away from it to reveal something shiny: one of those fragments the tutorial had talked about. Closing the help files, she immediately darted forward to grab it, and ran away before the tree could change its mind and attack her.

He just needed to examine one more tree! JK was hoping for the sign tree again.
He seemed to be retracing his path, however, as he found himself running from a Willow once again.
At least he was done! With a ping, his level rose.

SugarPuss might not have exactly come across anyone else yet but she did find herself a signpost that gave her a quest as soon as she approached it. It seemed that the quest would require her to examine the trees around her in exchange for a reward. She supposed that she could roll with that since it seemed easy enough.
Deciding that she would start with one of the smaller trees, she blinked when it asked her to guess what it was hiding. "Hmm... I dunno. Maybe some... honey..?" She was pretty sure that she had it all wrong since she had absolutely no idea as to what it was trying to get at though she thought it was a reasonable guess all in all.
The little tree smiled even wider at her obliging its request with a guess then opened its mouth as it gave her its answer. Chuckling softly to herself, she tentatively peered into its mouth then reached into it to retrieve the shiny object that was the fragment.

There was only one tree left to inspect before her quest was complete, and Ace managed to wander a little bit further into the Woods. It wasn't that she had a negative experience so far, but it was definitely... random. She tried to remember what the first three trees had in common, but failed to come up with any common characteristics. Holding her breath, Ace approached the last tree she needed to inspect.
8: You reach a tree with stripes. Trees with stripes, how silly!
"I beg your pardon," says the tree with stripes, "but I am not silly at all. In here everything is possible and anything is impossible and therefore a tree with stripes is completely within everything and anything." Its stripes change colours. "Now, give me a good, good shake. I want to get some more colour out. Shake me really well, if you do I'll reward you."
If you shake the tree it laughs happily and then spits out a fragment. It bids you your merry way as you continue walking. +1 fragment.
As she approached it, she realized it had stripes -- did any of the other trees have stripes? Wait, did trees even have stripes? How silly.

Ace waited for the tree to continue. It didn't. She hoped this wasn't another game or riddle like the last one, which she was sure she had only solved because the game itself seeemed... Well, was it even fair to call a game about Wonderland glitchy, when there weren't supposed to be any rules? Perhaps the tree was right.
"Sorry," said Ace hesitantly.
The tree's stripes changed colors, which she hoped was a good sign. "Now give me a good shake," said the tree.
"Aye aye, captain tree," she responded, reaching forward to wrap her arms around its trunk and lean her weight into it to shake it vigorously. This really was preferable to sticking her arms up trees' noses -- perhaps she had learned something from this quest. Perhaps her heart had grown three sizes this day.
If it had, she was too distracted by her shiny reward of a fragment to notice.

What was she looking for again? < TREE! > Ah yes, good! Fondly the redhead sent waves of gratitude towards the hovering spirit of her friendly spirit guardian and looked about. "This place is all trees!" So it apparently didn't matter which tree she 'examined'? This seemed awfully suspicious and, all things considered, Nines wasn't entirely sure she wanted to do it.
Yet there her feet were, moving along again as if she had no choice in the matter, making everything quite easy.

The first tree that Nines walked up to was short indeed, shorter even than she was. That was pretty remarkable since the curly-haired Rabbit player was pretty sure she was closer to the ground than usual. What was worse was the damned little thing was smiling at her. "Why do I want to guess what you're hiding?" She frowned. It didn't do anything but ask its question again, causing the girl to shrug.
"Do you have a cookie in there?" Something in Kidana vibrated at the very idea that her charge would not only take something from this strange little tree, but that it might be half-eaten food. "Don't worry, Ki. I wouldn't. I'm just...curious." Golden eyes went wide at the tongue suddenly appearing before her, a fragment of something on it. "Oh...thank you?" Somewhat disappointed she took the item gingerly and tucked it in her pocket.

Finding her way to the next tree, still not quite sure what to expect, but hoping this tree was a little less odd than the first, Nines was pleased. Signs were plastered showing directions to fascinating places such as 'Everywhere' and 'Nowhere'. "I wonder how to get to Nowhere...do you think the waypost will let me know when I get there?" Keeping that note in her mind she wandered on again.

Nope, nope, nope. Nines didn't even care what that tree had said after it mentioned picking its nose. She all but ran away from it because boogers are the most disgusting thing you can possibly get from someone else. Maybe more than some kind of vomitous flu though, really, that was also pretty gross.

4: You reach a broken tree and it is sobbing. "I'm so very sad", says the broken tree. "So, so very sad indeed. I left my glasses around here and now I can't find them. Can you help me out?"
If you don't help it out it gives you nothing and continues to sob.
If you help it out, search around the tree for glasses! Roll 1d4. If you roll a 4 you succeed in finding its glasses. It is super excited as you hand it back. "Thank you, oh my goodness, thank you indeed. Here, have this." It gives you a fragment and insists on giving you a hug, but the hug is very prickly and not very nice at all. +1 Fragment.
'Shake agreed to help find the tree's glasses. As she searched the floor near the tree, she fell, tumbling down a hill. As she toppled down, and plopped on the ground, she discovered a huge pair of square glasses. "I think I found them!" She shouted, as she trudged back up the hill. The glasses, which were too big to put in her pocket, were incredibly heavy. When 'Shake got to the top, she was out of breath.
"Here you are!" She wheezed.
It is super excited as you hand it back. "Thank you, oh my goodness, thank you indeed. Here, have this."

She had been walking a long time and was starting to tire abit so she looks for a place to rest after a bit she see's a tall tree that looked like it would be good to lean agenst at least so she heads for it
Just as she was about to touch it she hears a tired voice from above "Oh please don't touch me" the voice says Pumcat instantly retracts her hand just incase it was like the last tree she hears the creaking of wood and quickly looks up to see the tall tree leaning over to look at her it said her hands were disgusting and that it too was disgusting and it needed to clean up so she should come back later puzzled she looks at her hands which aside from some dirt wasn't that bad then she looks at the tree aside from some moss it seemed just as clean as every other tree she looks up at the still puzzled by what it said but nods to it "Ok" she says if the tree felt it was dirty and wanted to clean up there was no harm in letting it "I'll be back later!" she says cheerfully as she turns and waves to the tree before heading off down the path
After walking in what she swares was circles she came back to the spot where the tree had been she stops eyes wide and mouth open "W-what?" she says in surprise and confusion as she looks at the spot where the tree SHOULD have been but wasn't the tree was just gone! "Whoa... The Trees here can walk?" she says in awe as she moves over to the empty spot yup the tree was really gone "Wow..." she says after staring at the empty place for several seconds then looks around thinking maybe the tree was just hiding
Finally she couldn't find it so she shrugs and continues on down the path

Hey, least he'd done something! He could have just left her to the mercy of the tree. Partridge might have snickered a bit at that one. He didn't feel any real shame to that. But she didn't seem all that upset that he was laughing. His opinion of her improved heavily with that fact. One less thing to be nagged about. He straightened as she righted herself, hands on his hips while she took a moment and he'd bantered with the crazy tree.
< Sirens_Envy: No prob~ just try not to get too close to the trees, I guess?? Wow they really do hate you. > To her second comment, he just shrugged.
