[Malen...always stubborn to the end.]

Good old dad... She thought smirking as she watched them, her body now illuminated by her fire avatar's light, I can't produce fire, but with his training I sure can manipulate it.

"I'm not even going to waste bullets you guys. I'll let Ciran deal with you." she laughed before a wave of dizzyness flashed through her face. The phoenix gave forth a large battlecry as it closed it wings, opening them to set free feathers of fire that hurtled towards them. Malen fell to the ground, her body finally taking its toll.

Ciran saw this and continued to protect his master.

Skating along, Othello finally caught up with Quinn just outside the cave. He stood a few yards away, waiting for any something to clue him in as to what exactly was going on.

Remus threw himself away from the attack. "Othello! Water or ice powers would be good now!" Remus looked past the flames of the phoenix at Malen's prone form and for an instant, he was looking at the body of his sister Alice in the wreckage of his home.

A magical shield surrounded Quinn, his staff sitting at the peak. The staff redirect all of the Phoenix fire around him, and safely away. He could honestly say that it got warm, but he didn't get burned.

"This seems to be a battle of magic." Quinn called out, "Malen, what do you say to a Mage's Dual?"

"Gotcha! I'm coming Remus." Othello quickly skated into the cave and created an ice bird, shielding Remus from the attack. He chilled the air around them a bit, for a little extra protection.

When he finally got to the room, Magnolia's mother had closed the opening new but now clean opening in her husband's neck and was cradling Magnolia's head in her lap, "What did you do my child? What have you done?"

Her father was the first to notice Dorien and he stiffened. He'd felt the patriarch's presence but had not seen him. Now he nodded his head in respect, I apologize that I was not able to welcome you to my home properly, my Lord. His mind voice was a strong booming articulation, even though he hadn't spoken outloud in years, his mind voice was as strong as ever.

"Quinn it's a construct! She's out cold! We need to finish off the bird and get her out of here!" Remus was crouched behind Othello's bird, growling at the phoenix.

The ice bird quickly started darting this way and that, which would hopefully distract who or whatever was attacking them long enough for Quinn to get through. Quinn, I'll back you up. Othello said hastily, seeing as how his bird seemed to be shrinking a bit. He added a bit more of his magic into it to keep it going.

If Malen was conscious she would have been all for it, but seeing as that was not the case, her avatar was the only thing to answer. Its black eyes zeroed in on Quinn as a booming voice echoed around them only to be amplified by the cave walls, "My Master thought you wanted to hurt her, but I can tell you don't want to. Seeing that you are an honorable being I'll oblige you in my Master's place. But be warned, she wants you dead. All of you dead. These were her last wishes. If I win, be prepared to become ashes."

--

Dorien was slight surprised, but pleased as he listened to the voice. So this was the voice of her father You have been injured in battle my friend. There is no need for you to apologize. he answered as he walked into the room. His icelike eyes, losing their cold glare for only a moment at the sight.

Remus stood up cautiously and backed away. "Othello, this is Quinn's fight now." He looked at Quinn. "I still need a best man so don't screw up."

Maybe so, but it's been damned infuriating loosing my strength like this...I'll have to start training right away. His lip curled upwards a bit, I....didn't know my daughter could heal such a wound, it is such a rare ability for our kind. It is an honor to have you in my house and an honor that you have taken interest in Magnolia.

"How sad. I haven't had a Mage's Dual in years." Quinn commented, pulling his staff toward him. As he did, he chanted several more words in the Runic Language that he did before. At the same time, he traced several lines in the air.

"Minek...Dietrai...Kilonek...Ashkai!" Several lines of Golden Thread shot out of Quinn's hands, chasing after the Phoenix. Their goal was to tie it down long enough for Othello to extinguish the flames.

He knew that the Phoenix would be all for eliminating him. He was the mage, the spell user, and a construct's worst nightmare.

The birds disappeared, but not before leaving a bit of light dust over Quinn. It was more for good luck than anything else, and Othello hoped it would give Quinn a bit of encouragement. He stepped back a bit, and let his friend do what he needed to.

He could honestly say that he liked this man. He was a warrior, and an honorable one at that. He wasn't surrpsied in the least that the king of this place would be such a person, The honor is mine that she ha sstayed with me for this long. As for your training, I would be honored to help a fellow warrior return to his full strength.

--

Ciran roared another battlecry as the threads circled him, his wings glowing once again. Surprisingly he let the threads captre him, his loose feathers floating the air to create three smaller, yet powerful phoenixes.

"Part of me is surprised. Part of me is not." Quinn spoke loud enough for the construct to hear, "What is your name, Construct? You all have one, and I did not hear your before."

Quinn slowly began to back away from the main construct, allowing himself to keep his eyes on all three of the new birds. They were weaker yes, but there were three of them now. It would be much harder to fight now. So, as was customary, in the back of his mind he readied his Haste spell. It was an infinitely useful spell at times, multiplying his speed by an intense number.
