*surfaces briefly from the books she's submerged in* 4laugh Meriko Jen: Perhaps you can start by adding little bits as you recolor and mix-and-match. ^^ Like...add a ribbon or a longer sleeve. Eventually you could practice your way up to editing whole pieces/outfits if you find that you like it.
I have edits that I've attempted and the tops don't look too bad, but I can't get the skirts to look... like anything. And I've found that shoes are a LOT of trouble!
Though I think I do well enough with the frankensteining. I can fill in the little bits.

*proudly shows off her trophy* it's just a bronze, but i'm proud of it all the same ^^. especially since these trophies are the reason i got wrongly banned. and i waited 11 months for them.

Jen: Ah, yeah...I've found that if I can't draw it, I can't pixel it either. My brain isn't wired to speak pixel directly. I have to translate from pencil first.

Those eyes were made one pixel at a time, anti-aliased by hand because I didn't think the paintbrush tool did a good enough job. I studied eyes that Charcoal Feathers made (she's my favorite eye artist on like this entire site, probably) and tried to make them the way she does.
